20th Anniversary 1984 Mustang GT350 Convertible,

Limited Edition, 48,048 miles, 5.0, 5 speed, absolutely beautiful condition and absolutely no rust. Excellent paint, interior, top, wheels & glass. Super clean undercarriage, sub frame connectors, strut tower and sway bars, flow masters, chromed Pony wheels. A/C, power windows, locks, deck lid, cruise, everything works – no excuses!  THIS 5.0 LITER, 5 SPEED IS ONE OF 587 20th ANNIVERSARY CONVERTIBLES BUILT WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION, A 5.0 LITER V/8 AND A 4 BARREL CARBURETOR.

Ownership history (as I understood it) provided to me by the car's second owner:

The first owner worked at an insurance agency and drove the car to work (though not in the winter).  Her name is scripted on the limited edition name plate badge.  The second owner was familiar with the car and when it came up for sale he purchased it around 1991, with approximately 31,000 miles.  He is an avid Mustang collector and when he saw my listing he was kind enough to provided this information, as well as the Buyer comment posted below.  He is in the body shop business and after he bought the car, he stripped and painted it with PPG single stage paint to remove minor imperfections (as stated in his comment below).  He also put a new convertible top with a glass window on the car as well as a number of modifications, including the sub frame connectors, strut towers and the turbo hood.  Additional modification (I believe the second owner also performed) include original (not aftermarket) chomed Pony wheels, Walker cat-back exhaust, headers, Mac H-pipe, double hung transmission cross plug, new ford Motorsport 8.8 with 373 rear end.  The work by the second owner was completed over a period of about 2 years, though he held on to the car until approximately 1999 when he sold the car to a Bridgewater, MA fireman in his mid 50's with about 37,000 miles on the car at that time.  In 2005 the fireman sold it to the 4th owner, who is from Wisconsin and is the chief pilot for Oshkosh Truck. He kept the car stored in his gargaged and covered with a custom fit dust cover.  My neighbor, who is the 4th owners best friend, let me know about the car when his friend decided to sell it in 2011.  I purchased the car with 43,000 miles on it and to the best of my knowledge it has never seen a winter or been stored outside. The car is incredibly clean.  I have kept the car in my heated hangar and driven it about 5000 miles over the last couple of summers. It is now for sale because I am relocating from Michigan to Idaho and won't have the proper storage space for the car in Idaho and perfer not to pay the moving costs.

"Dear mawoods5999,Hello, I was the second owner of this car. I disassembled and painted this car for myself just to remove minor paint imperfections and align the body panels better than the factory did. This is avery nice car ! - 66mustangk"

Weekly Recap: An '80s encore in the auto world

Sat, Jul 11 2015

The '80s returned in a big way this week, as National Lampoon's, Ghostbusters, Miami Vice, and even Tetris were back in the news. While there were far more serious topics (see below), nostalgia mingled with modern marketing to put these Reagan-era favorites back in the spotlight. The '80s were alternately cold and corny at times, but their cultural touchstones can still generate big money. That's why Infiniti recreated an iconic scene from National Lampoon's Vacation (1983) for an advertisement that hawks the QX60 crossover. Actor Ethan Embry, who played Rusty Griswold in a later Lampoon's movie, pilots the Infiniti – which is serving as a modern Family Truckster – for a trip to Walley World. A blonde pulls alongside in a red Lamborghini. They flirt, and she drives on. Christie Brinkley, who played the original girl in the red sports car (she drove a Ferrari in the '83 flick), is riding shotgun and chides Embry with: "A blonde. In a convertible. Seriously?" Okay, it's hardly on the level of "here's looking at you," or even "you can't handle the truth," but it should resonate with '80s babies, many of whom are now having children of their own and moving into three-row SUVs like the QX60. Naturally, Hollywood is going back to the well, too, with a Vacation remake that premiers July 29. Meanwhile, Ghostbusters is returning next year, and director Paul Feig offered a peak at the new Eco-1 in this tweet. In the 1984 classic, the team drove a modified 1959 Cadillac. Now, it will drive a late '80s Cadillac. As expected, the announcement generated support and controversy from movie and car enthusiasts. His tweet had generated several thousand retweets and favorites in the days following the news. Though the '80s Caddy looks, uh, less elegant in comparison to the now-iconic fins and curves of the original Ecto-1, it's about the same time lapse into the past as the '59 Caddy was to viewers in 1984. Speaking of 1984, Miami Vice, which debuted that year on NBC, is seeing one of its hero cars hit the auction block, Mecum Auctions announced this week. The 1986 Ferrari used on the show will be offered for sale Aug. 15 during Monterey classic car week. The white supercar runs a 390-hp flat 12-cylinder engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission and was in storage after the show ended in 1989 until earlier this year. It has 16,124 miles on the odometer and is authenticated by Ferrari North America and Classiche.

Which of these high-powered pickup classics would you choose?

Fri, Apr 17 2020

High-performance pickups would appear to be having a moment on the auction site Bring a Trailer, with two tempting examples up for auction right now: a 1971 Ford Ranchero GT and a 1991 GMC Syclone. These trucks are a generation apart, but they each represent the peak muscle truck of their time. The Ranchero, of course, was Ford's car-based pickup, and Ford took advantage of its Torino roots by offering the same ultra-high-performance 429 Cobra Jet V8 in the Ranchero as it did in the Torino-branded coupes and convertibles. The 429 V8 in this truck is said to be numbers-matching, and it looks the business topped with an air scoop poking through the hood. It's paired with a three-speed automatic and a limited slip differential, reportedly one of only 82 1971-model Rancheros with this powertrain combo. As a Ranchero GT, this example sports hidden headlights, and the dual sport mirrors and vinyl top further establish its kinship with its passenger-car siblings. A set of factory Magnum 500 wheels and a respray in the original red add to the muscle-truck vibe. Two decades later, car-based pickups were dead, so when GMC decided to revive the muscle-truck genre it did so with the mid-size Sonoma. The resulting Syclone put a more modern spin on the fast-pickup idea (and on the spelling of "cyclone"). This hi-po hauler uses a 4.3-liter V6 topped with a Mitsubishi turbocharger that helped it make 280 horsepower. It's mated to a floor-shifted four-speed automatic and a Borg-Warner all-wheel-drive system with a 35/65 torque split. The Syclone was a one-year-only model, of which just under 3,000 were built. All were black with matching cloth seats with red accents. The only other '71 Ranchero to appear on BaT was a non-original GT with a 351ci V8 that was a no-sale at $7,900. This Ranchero is already nearly double that figure. Of the four previously Syclones that have crossed BaT's virtual auction block, two have sold, for $36,000 and $50,000, but both had lower miles than this truck. At this writing, these two trucks are neck-and-neck, both in the mid teens with both auctions set to end April 23. Which powerhouse pickup makes you want to put your money down? Watch a Ford Bronco casually jump a McLaren 720S

Sun, Sep 8 2019

Michael Cox can't stop jumping his classic Ford Bronco. He's jumped it on the beach. He's jumped it in the desert. He's jumped it at racetracks. Now he's jumped it in Hoonigan's backyard playground. Upping the ante on this one, he completed the jump while a modded McLaren 720S drifted underneath.  For those who don't know Michael Cox, he's a builder, racer, mad man extraordinaire who's worked with BMW and Porsche and specializes in off-road racing. Possibly more famous than the man is the vehicle he's known for driving, a custom-built Bronco that sports a cat-themed desert camo wrap.  Technically, this is not the first time Cox has visited Hoonigan and jumped his Bronco. But last time, the Bronco soared over nothing but tire crumbs and those tiny pebbles that get stuck in tread. This time, the stakes grew significantly, as a custom 720S drifted under the Bronco while it was in the air.  After a few donuts, Cox first tries a jump over a flatbed trailer. Once he easily clears that obstacle, Hoonigan brings the McLaren into the picture. Watch the video above to see a few crazy men show total disregard for the cost of a supercar.  This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences.
