1916 Brass Era Model T Ford Touring No Reserve on 2040-cars
Augusta, Georgia, United States

Up for bids is my
1916 Model T Ford Touring. If you have been looking for a Brass Era Model T,
here it is! As you know, 1916 was The Last of The Brass. I am a little confused
why the kerosene cowl lamps have brass bezels. Could it be a 1915? I don’t know!
After 20 years of
restoring Model A’s, I got interested in learning more about the Model T Ford.
In the last six months I have purchased three T’s, learned how to drive them
and lots about the
mechanics, etc. The first two I purchased I had no problem getting them running
and driving. Unfortunately, I have not had the same luck with this 1916 Touring
So far I have
replaced all four coils with rebuilt wooden cased originals which work
excellent. I have tested the new plugs for spark and all four have a strong
spark in the correct timing order, 1,2,4,3. The commentator has been removed
and cleaned.
I installed a Ford
The head was
removed and the tops of all pistons cleaned and seven of the eight valves
replaced with new valves. Although this T has been stored for several years the
engine turns freely. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get the engine to
run! I guess it’s just due to my inexperience with Model T’s. Those who are
have told me the timing is somehow off and possibly 180 degrees out. Hopefully
someone with more experience can get this nice Brass T up and going.
I do believe the
transmission is in good condition. While attempting to start the engine we
towed it around a large lot and both low and high gears turned the engine over
with no problem the brake band worked so good it caused the rear wheels to
skid!!
Although the body
needs restoration work, all three doors close and latch. It appears some items
have been added somewhere in the past. I don’t believe a 16 had a dash and I’m
not sure about the electric lights and generator. I did not notice any leaks in
the cooling system. I do have a very nice brass radiator for this era Model T
available separately but not included in this auction. If interested, I will
send pictures.
I have posted the
maximum pictures allowed by ebay but will be happy to send more upon request.
So, here’s a
chance for someone to own one of the rare Brass Era T’s. I have started the
bidding at the amount I have invested. Not trying to make a big profit here, I
just think it should go to someone who has more experience and desire to take
it to the next level. I need to make more room to finish several Model A
projects, so this Model T needs a new home!
I have not had the
car titled so it will be sold with a “Bill of Sale” only . You are welcome to come to “as is” wilt no
warranty! For your convenience, once paid in full I can store it for a short
period of time, however it will be outside under tarps.
Buyer will be
responsible for pickup or delivery.
A $500.00 deposit
via PayPal must be posted within 48 hours of auction close and the balance via
cashier’s check within seven day.
I will be happy to
answer any questions to the best of my ability and send any other pictures
requested.
NO RESERVE!
Serious bidders
only PLEASE!
Thanks for

Chevy says not to look at the 2019 Silverado's fuel economy rating
Tue, Nov 20 2018The 2019 Chevy Silverado is hitting dealerships soon, and one of the most notable changes for the new full-size pickup is the addition of a 2.7-liter turbocharged inline-four. The engine replaces the naturally-aspirated 4.3-liter V6 in volume consumer models like the Silverado LT and promises more power, less weight and — most importantly — better fuel economy. The thing is, the gains in efficiency haven't been as dramatic as some might have hoped, especially when stacked up against competitors from Ford and Ram. As Automotive News reports, GM's response is a little murky. First, let's talk numbers. We're pulling all figures from FuelEconomy.gov, the official U.S. government source for fuel ratings. Fuel economy numbers on trucks vary greatly based on a number of factors. Bed and cab configuration play a part, but so does a four-wheel-drive system. You also have to factor in tires, transmissions, rear-axle gearing, hybrid systems and cylinder deactivation. Things like that can make the difference between best- and worst-in-class. The EPA's website doesn't give enough information a lot of the time, so there's really no easy way to compare apples-to-apples. First, take a look at the ratings for the 2019 Silverado. A 2.7-liter model with two-wheel drive is rated 20 city, 23 highway and 21 combined. That's both better and worse than a two-wheel drive 2018 Silverado with the 4.3-liter V6 (18 city, 24 highway and 20 combined). The updated 2019 Silverado with a 4.3-liter V6 has yet to be rated. With less weight and a smaller engine, many hoped Chevy would make bigger gains. It's unusual to see any decrease in a fuel economy metric these days. GM says that it's not done tuning the new 2.7-liter engine, so fuel economy could theoretically increase. Expanding further, a V8-powered 2019 Silverado (17 city, 24 highway and 19 combined) actually gets better highway fuel economy than a turbocharged four-cylinder powered truck in certain configurations, even if the latter has a better overall average. But that's only with two-wheel drive, the 8-speed transmission and cylinder deactivation. A Silverado with the 5.3-liter V8 and a 6-speed automatic is rated at 15 city, 22 highway and 17 combined. The biggest issue with the Silverado 2.7-liter doesn't come from within GM itself but from Ford and Ram. GM cites the Ford F-150 with the 3.3-liter V6 and the Ram 1500 with the 3.6-liter V6 as the closest competitors to its new 2.7-liter inline-four.
Ford earnings take a dive on investment, slowing sales; workers get $6,900 in profit sharing
Thu, Jan 29 2015Ford Motor Company's pre-tax profits for 2014 took a beating, falling to $6.3 billion, a $2.3-billion drop from 2013, while overall revenues fell from $139.4 billion to $135.8 billion. Net income for 2014, meanwhile, plunged 56 percent, from $7.18 billion to $3.19 billion. Yeah, those aren't great numbers. While Ford's figures are largely down across the board, some of the weaker numbers aren't too difficult to explain away. The company launched 24 vehicles across the globe in 2014, including some of its biggest and most important volume models, like the 2015 F-150, as well as iconic offerings like the new Mustang. The result of this is both increased investment as well as a drop in total sales – US market numbers were down 164,000 units compared to 2013. Recall claims and high warranty costs also did a number on the Blue Oval. "2014 was a solid yet challenging year for Ford - with our investments and a record number of new products launched around the world positioning us for strong growth this year and beyond," Ford CEO Mark Fields said in a statement. Ford's 50,180 UAW workers in the United States will receive profit-sharing checks of $6,900. In some markets, Ford's fortunes were impacted by outside factors. Europe, for example, recorded more sales (up 70,000 units) and higher revenues (up $2.2 billion), but still reported a $443-million pre-tax loss. Blame was placed on the crumbling Russian economy, which has suffered from sanctions and slumping oil prices. Despite its troubles last year, the company still seems bullish on 2015. Ford's pre-tax outlook remains unchanged, as the company expects to make anywhere from $8.5 to $9.5 billion on the back of higher revenue from the company's automotive operations. We expect strong growth and improved financial performance in 2015 driven by our investments in new products and capacity," Ford CFO Bob Shanks said of the company's future.
Toyota sells six of 10 of hybrids in California
Wed, 31 Jul 2013In an apparent shot back at Ford's increasing market share of electrified vehicles and claim that it accepts more Prius trade-ins for its own hybrids than any other car, Toyota has flexed a muscle and played the numbers game to put the Blue Oval in its place.
Leaning on its hybrid market dominance in California, the Japanese automaker stated that six out of 10 hybrids sold in the Golden State are Toyota models. And it keeps coming: Year-to-date through May 2013, Toyota sold five times more hybrids than Ford. One of every two hybrids in California is a Prius model. In addition, Toyota notes that it has sold 1.5 million Prius vehicles in the US, 90-percent of which are still on the road today.
