Vintage Ford 1928-1929 Model A Coupe Hot Rod, Scta 1932 on 2040-cars
Burnsville, Minnesota, United States
Up for auction is my personal Original Henry Steel 1929 Ford Model A Coupe. The car is setup on an original, pinched, 1932 Chassis. The Car comes equipped with a 307 Small Block Chevrolet. I also put a new intake with 2 Edelbrock 4 barrel carbs from Speedway. I am also running Gear Drive Lake Headers with baffles. The car is running a Turbo 350 Trans with a 1966 Nova rear. The car has been chopped, approximately, 3 inches so plenty of room. I am 6' 1" and have another couple of inches of head room to go. The brakes are Bendix style, self energizing in the front with the Nova rear drums in back. It is running 15" Firestone bias ply tires all around. Tires only have 3k miles on them so plenty of tread left. Car has all garnish moldings in place along with cut glass. I purchased a 32 style dash (not painted) and also placed a full set of brand new Stewart Warner gauges in it.
You can drive this car anywhere. I have taken it on an 800+ mile trip for the last couple of years and runs like a champ. It's a traditional hot rod so it consumes some oil on long trips and drips small amounts of oil when parked. This is not a street rod or show car. Its a DRIVER that you hop in and go. Rides very well at 65 and 70 mph. One finger on the steering wheel. The only reason that I am selling it is because I have 5 other cars and not enough space to keep them. I have nothing to hide with this car. If you have questions please don't hesitate to contact me. I buy many hot rods myself and don't like bad experiences. I am surely not going to deliver one to the new owner of this car. This is a bitchin little hot rod so bid away. The car has a clean MN title in my name. The buyer is responsible for paying a $500 Non Refundable deposit 48 hours after the winning bid, via Pay Pal. The buyer is also responsible for all shipping costs associated with getting the car to its new home. OR COME PICK IT UP AND DRIVE IT HOME! The buyer and I will discuss the remainder of the payment via telephone. The car is being sold as is and with no warranty stated or implied. Once the car is purchased it is yours. |

Ford 'working very hard' on F-150 hybrid
Thu, Dec 4 2014The lighter, aluminum-bodied 2015 Ford F-150 gets (at best) 26 miles per gallon. That's not bad for a truck that size – and we should always remember that improving gas guzzlers can make a big difference – but what if the popular truck came with a gas-electric hybrid powertrain? How efficient would that be? We heard Ford talking about such a vehicle last year, and now we learn that Ford is still "working very hard" to make a F-150 hybrid happen. You want details? Well, we all want details, but those will not be coming for quite some time. Last year, Ford's global product development chief, Raj Nair, said that the company was planning to have hybrid pickups and hybrid SUVs on sale by 2020. With fuel prices dropping, Nair is now saying that a hybrid F-150 makes more sense, financially, than a diesel, but Ford could make both options available, depending on customer demand. The diesel wouldn't require all that much work, Nair said, since "we've got diesels in the portfolio." To date, the only hybrid F-150s we've seen have been conversions, often PHEVs, like this example from HVET or this one from Quantum. Pickup trucks from other manufacturers haven't been greeted with huge sales numbers. General Motors stopped making its big two-mode hybrids and cancelled the next-gen program.
10 automakers sued over keyless ignitions
Thu, Aug 27 2015Keyless ignition has rapidly proliferated throughout the auto industry to become a fairly normal feature on new cars. It's supposed to offer the convenience of keeping the fob in your pocket and just pressing a button to drive away. However, ten major automakers are now being sued in US District Court over claims that the system is dangerous, Reuters reports. The suit alleges that people are forgetting to shut off the engine, and the lack of an idle timer is the cause for 13 deaths by carbon monoxide poisoning and multiple injuries. The suit currently includes 28 plaintiffs, according to Reuters, but the lawyers are asking for class-action status to potentially add many more. The case goes after a major swath of the industry, including BMW, Daimler, FCA, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota, and Volkswagen, plus their related brands like Acura, Infiniti, Mini, and Lexus. In all, over five million vehicles are affected. The assertion here is that people walk away from their vehicle without shutting it off because they believe the engine shuts off automatically. If parked in a garage, carbon monoxide can build up, leading to poisoning. The lawyers claim automakers know this is a problem and also cite 27 complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration about the issue, according to Reuters. The plaintiffs are asking for an automatic shut-off and damages from the companies. These concerns have come up before, though. Toyota previously faced a lawsuit over a carbon monoxide death after a woman accidentally left her Lexus running. Also earlier this year, GM recalled 64,186 examples of the 2011-2013 Chevrolet Volt because owners weren't shutting them off. The problem resulted in two injuries, and the company released a software update to limit the idling time.
Mulally to stay at Ford through end of 2014 at least
Fri, 06 Dec 2013Alan Mulally isn't going anywhere... at least not just yet. The CEO who helped turn around Ford Motor Company has been linked to the top job at tech behemoth Microsoft, leading to a flurry of rumors about potential successors. Those rumors, though, may have just been put to rest - at least for a little while.
Speaking to Edsel Ford II (great-grandson of company founder Henry Ford) at the unveiling of the new Mustang, Automotive News Europe confirmed that Mulally would stick around until the end of next year. "Alan is staying through the end of 2014 and that's all I know," said Ford. "Frankly, he has told us that his plan is to stay with Ford through the end of 2014."
Presuming that Edsel Ford is correct and that Microsoft isn't so hot on Mulally that it saves the position for him, it seems increasingly likely that the 68-year-old exec is more interested in continuing to work in Dearborn rather than in Redmond.
