Backyard Barn Find In Backyard #2! This Car Was My Favorite! on 2040-cars

This 5 Window Coupe was restored in the early 90s and while not a show car it still looks very good.  Personally, I think this was the best car pa did.  I loved this car.  It was my favorite.  I always told him I was going to drop a V8 in it, like American Graffiti.

Since I sold my 34 5 window coupe, I would love to keep this car and rod it out, but I can not wreck this beauty.  I plan to take the money from this and finish the car I started for my pa - a 1959 Impala.  He said it was his favorite car of all times.

My father built this car and a half dozen other cars from the ground up.  I have driven this car from time to time over the years and it is mechanically sound, unfortunately it has not been driven in the past three years.  For this reason I recommend cleaning the gas tank.  (unless I get it done ahead of time :)

I will try my best to get it running before the auction ends. For those of you who know these cars, Henry built them so the average man could repair them and keep them running.  You have to love Henry for that!

Few cars get more attention than an old Model A Ford with a rumble seat. This 1930 is no exception. The green two tone paint is in good condition. The original style mohair interior, which was replaced, is like new. The body, frame, fenders, wheels, motor are all reconditioned original.  This is not fresh molded parts ordered from a magazine.

It has not been that long since this car ran, so getting it road worthy should be not big deal.   Again, I will do my best to get it running by the end of this auction.  I am posting a lot of pictures so you can get a good sense of the car's condition.  I just washed it for the pictures.  I know it is difficult to buy a car off of pictures, so personal inspection is welcomed.

I have many Model A parts and more cars to sell. Please contact me with any questions.  Thank you.

Automakers' rush on aluminum may result in shortage

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

Aluminum is the new buzzword in the automotive industry. The latest Range Rover and Range Rover Sport both take advantage of the lightweight material to shave huge amounts of body fat (only it's called "aluminium" over there). Audi and Jaguar have been using the stuff for years in their A8 and XJ, respectively, and now, aluminum is going mainstream, arriving on the 2015 Ford F-150.
While we're excited to see aluminum make an impact outside the premium market, its widespread adoption apparently won't come without some problems, notably in terms of supply. "There isn't an automotive manufacturer that makes vehicles in North America that we're not talking to," Tom Boney, of Novelis, the largest global supplier of aluminum sheetmetal, told The Detroit News.
According to Boney, Ford's use of aluminum on such a large scale has forced auto manufacturers in "every boardroom" to reconsider their plans following the F-150's unveiling, for one simple reason: there's not exactly enough aluminum to go around, at least in the short term. The auto industry presently only accounts for six percent of the aluminum sheet produced, but as the material is adopted by more and more brands, that figure is expected to swell to 25 percent within the next six years.

2015 Ford Focus gets more Aston-y [w/video]

Tue, 04 Mar 2014

With more and more members of the Ford brand adopting a new familial face, the Focus has been left looking like an odd man out. At the Geneva Auto Show, though, it properly rejoined the family, adopting the now familiar Aston Martin-ish grille that's proliferated throughout the range.
Overall, we're liking the refreshed Focus' look. Aside from the new grille, the headlights have been restyled and now look like elongated versions of the lamps on the Focus ST. Functionally, those headlamps are bi-xenon units, complete with an adaptive front lighting system. Out back, the rear retains the same overall look, which has been smoothed out for 2015.
In the cabin, the second-generation of Ford's much-maligned Sync system makes its debut. Sync 2, as it's called, is supposedly more intuitive than the first-gen system. Ford is promising "one-shot" navigation functions for the system. Saying "I'm hungry," should bring up a list of nearby restaurants. Of course, we'll be reserving final judgment until we can test the new system in person.

NHTSA investigating Ford Fiesta for faulty door latches

Mon, 15 Sep 2014

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary investigation on the 2011-2013 Ford Fiesta because the regulator has received 61 complaints from drivers, including one claim of an injury, about the doors on the subcompacts failing to latch and sometimes even flying open while driving. NHTSA has estimated that the problem could affect as many as 205,000 vehicles.
NHTSA is still gathering further data about the problem, but looking at the complaints so far, both front and rear doors appear to be potentially involved with the alleged failures. Among the reports, there are 12 claiming that the door opened while driving. Several also indicate the "Door Ajar" warning illuminating during this problem. The one purported injury happened when someone attempted to shut the door, and it bounced back.
Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker told Autoblog via email, "We are cooperating with NHTSA on this investigation, as we always do." Scroll down to read the report from NHTSA.
