For sale is an original Henry Ford all steel late 1931 Model A Deluxe Hi Boy Roadster on a 32 frame. I found this Colorado car in an older gentleman's garage that had been there since 1969 with the original Colorado title. I built this car from 2005-2008. I have been building hot rods and Harleys for fifty years for my own use. Frame is from Street Rods by Michael - Pete & Jakes 4" dropped and drilled chrome axle, aluminum I rod shocks, and Pete & Jakes hairpins. GM 11" discs brakes front. 9" ford rear from John's industries with the large drum brakes and 3.00 gears - 4 link with Alden coil overs - Tires are Excelsior radials from Coker 550-16 front and 750-16 rear. Rims are powder coated. Engine is a 1961 numbers correct 283 Corvette bored 010 over - original balanced steel crank - balanced rods - 10 to1 KB pistons - 1964 327 461 heads stainless valves hardened seats, poly locks - mild Competition hydraulic street cam - Aluminum Edelbrock intake with an Edelbrock 500cfm - stock chevy distributor with a pertronix ignition and coil. Custom aluminum fan shroud - Aluminum water pump - Runs 180 - 190 degrees. Transmission is a 350 turbo with a shift kit. Remote Tranny cooler - Modified Gennie shifter - Gennie e brake. Seat is from Glide engineering. Looks like bench but both seats will adjust. Marine vinyl - rubber floor mat over insulation. Custom built beading aluminum door and kick panels. Stewart - Warner electric gauges - Lime works steering column with 14" steering wheel. Small tach mounted to steering column - aftermarket turn signal switch - original Guide headlights 682-C. This car runs and drives great - plenty of power. I like to drive my cars, normal rock chips and normal wear. No major damage. I also have fabricated hood sides out of aluminum that I run during the winter months just to keep the operating temp up and it works well. If this car sells I need to have it picked up by no later than 9/22/2014. Or I can store it till 10/14/2014. Thanks. |

We spy the Ford Mustang King Cobra early at SEMA
Tue, 04 Nov 2014As is the case with most auto shows, waiting for the reveal of hot new models is the worst part. So, while our own Drew Phillips has been wandering the halls here in Las Vegas since they unlocked the doors for SEMA 2014, we didn't expect him to come back with any big reveals until later in the day. Until this happened.
Meandering by the Ford stand, Phillips eagle-eyed a trunk lid that caught his attention. Popping out from an otherwise draped 2015 Mustang, the matte black lid clearly has the name King Cobra embossed on the rear.
That name is interesting for a few reasons: to start, Ford hasn't used the Cobra name (without "Jet" attached) since way back in 2004, so a new snake is certainly something to take note of. Second, the King Cobra name dates all the way back to the ill-remembered Mustang II, meaning there is a clear link to Blue Oval history here.
Ford Recalling 70k Escape and Mariner Hybrids for cooling issue
Fri, 12 Sep 2014Ford is recalling about 70,209 examples of the 2005-2008 Ford Escape Hybrid and the 2006-2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid because the cooling pumps for their hybrid systems could fail.
According to the company's defect notice, it's possible for the original "Motor Electronics Coolant (MEC) Pump" to wear out and fail, which would could cause the hybrid system to overheat. If this happens, the vehicle goes into a safety mode that takes away most or all of its power. However, braking and steering still operate normally. After cooling down, the affected models restart normally. The company says that it's not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem.
Ford will begin repairing the vehicles in late October, and dealers will be installing improved, brushless pumps on the affected models at no charge to owners. If drivers had their pumps fail before this recall, they can contact Ford for a possible reimbursement. Scroll down to read the recall announcement from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or download the full defect notice as a PDF, here.
2020 Ford Explorer safer than old model; crash test ratings short of Top Safety Pick
Mon, Dec 16 2019The 2020 Ford Explorer three-row crossover has improved on the outgoing model in many ways. According to the IIHS, it has also improved in a number of safety categories, but not enough to earn a Top Safety Pick award. The culprit is not the headlight performance for once. The Explorer's headlights were given an "Acceptable" rating, which would be sufficient for Top Safety Pick, if not Top Safety Pick +. Where the Ford falls short is in the front small overlap driver-side crash test, in which it got the second highest "Acceptable" rating. The IIHS requires a "Good" rating in this category, whereas an "Acceptable" rating on the passenger side would be, well, acceptable for Top Safety Pick. According to IIHS, Ford will be reviewing the results to figure out what the issue is, and it will likely make revisions to future Explorers to improve the result. Other than the one test, the Explorer performed admirably. It received a "Good" rating in all other crash categories except the passenger-side small overlap that was not tested. Both its standard and optional forward collision prevention systems had the highest "Superior" ratings, with the standard one preventing a collision with a car at speeds of up to 25 mph, and the optional one avoiding a collision at 12 mph, and "nearly" preventing one at 25 mph. Headlights are rated as "Acceptable" and so is access to child seat LATCH anchors. Also worth noting is that the Explorer's crash test ratings apply to its luxurious twin the 2020 Lincoln Aviator, meaning it also doesn't get a Top Safety Pick rating. The forward collision system performed the same as in the Ford, and the only difference between the two was in headlight performance. The Lincoln's standard headlights, included on the base, Reserve and Grand Touring trims, have the second-lowest "Marginal" rating, but the optional headlights for those trims, and the standard ones on the Black Label trim, received the "Good" rating. Among three-row Explorer competitors, the Honda Pilot, Hyundai Santa Fe XL, Kia Telluride, Nissan Pathfinder and Toyota Highlander all have a Top Safety Pick. The Hyundai Palisade, Mazda CX-9, Subaru Ascent, and the slightly smaller Kia Sorento and Volkswagen Tiguan all have a Top Safety Pick +. As for Lincoln Aviator competitors, the Cadillac XT6, Infiniti QX60, Lexus RX and Volvo XC90 get a Top Safety Pick. The Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class and two-row-only BMW X5 get the Top Safety Pick + rating. Related Video:
