1930 Model A Sedan: This Hot rod has the 1945/1948 Ford Flathead, 239 cubic inch 59 AB 90-100 HP: 1937 Ford 3spd transmission: 1933 front end: 1931 rear end: 1939/1940 model brakes with frame mount master and pedals. Up-dated Alluminum radiator, new wiring, New brakes/master/wheel cylinders. Radiator Shell is new old stock from the 1960's. New Coker Classics: 560-15 on the front, L78-15 on the rear. This is not a new build but a restoration from a surviving vintage hot rod from the early 1950's. Many of the parts have been repurposed adding the 60 amp alternator that is not original to the Flatheads. The Lakes style headers are authentic to the period this car was built matching the design from the early A-V8 cars that were built. The Model a has a 4" chop with the body mounted back on the frame like it was originally built leaving the splash aprons attached. Painted in Satin red and gloss black PPG paint.
HISTORY: What is very cool about this Model A Sedan is that it was originally built between 1949 and 1952: After returning from the WWII many Vets wanted to go fast: finding the Model A servived the scrap drives, the 4 cylinder was modified many times to go as fast as possible on the back roads of Oregon and then North West Montana. With dreams of dry lake beds the Sedan began its transformation from family car to Hot rod in 1949 when the first of many Flathead V8's was installed. In 1950 a 1937 Flathead was installed and transmission:"the same tranmision still opperates today" also the 1933 front axle was installed. After a couple of years the Sedan was changed yet again to go even faster: a 1940 Flathead was installed along with juice brakes all the way around and by the end of 1952 the hood and fenders were removed along with front and rear bumpers and guards leaving the splash aprons. The result being the Model a A-V8 as they were called back then. The car opperated for many years between Oregon and Monatana where it was a daily driver. The Model A was never really all that fast, but it was loud and felt fast and that is all the mattered at the time. In 1987 the Sedan was once again torn down for a rebuild and restoration adding many new parts, the 4" chop and the 1945-1948 Flathead 239 59 AB along with many other plans were stalled for many years as the A V8 was passed from one family member to another finally being completed the last couple of years. I tried to get some old photos to pass on but due to illness and hospital visits I was unable to aquire any other than visits on the phone and stories passed on from the original owners family. I hope to who ever has the winning bid they keep the story about this car alive and pass it on. If you want to own a piece of Hot rodding history this is your car, a car we only read about but never find. An original Model A Ford A-V8 is a great thing to own! If you are looking for air ride suspension and air conditioning this is not your car! This Model A is priced to sell with a low reserve; anyone looking for a great vintage Hot rod can win this bid! Good luck and feel free to ask questions I will be happy answere them and if I can't I will do my best to find the answere for you!!

Jay Leno's Garage goes eco with Ricardo HyBoost
Mon, 17 Mar 2014"Now before you turn away, this is not another boring hybrid car thing..." Despite the slightly defensive introduction from Jay, the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage is actually pretty fascinating. The Ricardo HyBoost is a 2009 Ford Focus that has had a 1.1-liter engine swapped in for the stock 2.0-liter four. That might not get you performance enthusiasts out there fired up, until, that is, you hear that the 1.1L is also fed by both a turbocharger and an electrically driven supercharger for an instant-on "torque-fill" effect. Sounds about right, considering that Ricardo engineering is part of the genius behind the McLaren P1.
Perhaps most exciting of all, the Ricardo folks say that the package should run somewhere in the neighborhood of $1,100. A sort of performance-hybrid that makes sense for the frugal driver and the enthusiast one, then. There's a lot more to the HyBoost, all of which can be seen in the video below.
Ford Mustang, F-150, Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator recalled
Wed, Apr 27 2016The Basics: Ford will recall 201,900 examples of the 2011-2012 F-150, 2012 Expedition, 2012 Mustang, and 2012 Lincoln Navigator. The affected vehicles have the 6R80 transmission. Of the total, there are 84,000 of them in the United States and 17,900 in Canada. The Problem: The output speed sensor on the vehicle's transmission lead frame can force the gearbox to downshift into first gear. If this happens at high speed, it could cause the rear tires to slide or lock up. Injuries/Deaths: There are no reported injuries, but Ford know of three accidents related to this problem. The Fix: Dealers will update the powertrain control module software to eliminate the problem, and they'll also replace the transmission lead frame. If You Own One: Ford will begin notifying affected customers by mail on May 23. Details are as follows: Ford issues safety recall and customer satisfaction program for certain 2011-2012 Ford F-150, and 2012 Ford Expedition, Ford Mustang and Lincoln Navigator vehicles in North America to update powertrain control module software and inspect for certain diagnostic trouble codes Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 202,000 2011-2012 Ford F-150, and 2012 Ford Expedition, Ford Mustang and Lincoln Navigator vehicles for a potential issue with the output speed sensor on the vehicle's transmission lead frame. Under certain conditions, the transmission controls could force a temporary downshift into first gear. Depending on the speed of the vehicle at the time of the downshift, the driver could experience an abrupt speed reduction that could cause the rear tires to slide or lock up. This condition could result in loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. Ford is aware of three reports of accidents and no injuries related to this condition. Affected vehicles are equipped with a 6R80 transmission and include certain 2011-2012 Ford F-150 vehicles built at Dearborn Truck Plant and Kansas City Assembly Plant, Aug. 19, 2011 through March 9, 2012; 2012 Ford Expedition vehicles built at Kentucky Truck Plant, Aug. 19, 2011 through Dec. 19, 2011; Ford Mustang vehicles built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant, Aug. 19, 2011 through Feb.
Editors' Picks March 2021 | Ford Mustang Mach-E, Polestar 2, Land Rover Defender and more
Thu, Apr 8 2021The month of March was unofficial minivan month here at Autoblog. We drove all of them but the Kia Carnival, but don’t worry, you wonÂ’t have to wait much longer to read that review. Among all the family-toting machines, we drove some more exciting vehicles including the Land Rover Defender and a pair of up-and-coming EVs. It was a month of excellent cars, meaning that this monthÂ’s litter of EditorsÂ’ Picks is stacked. In case you missed FebruaryÂ’s picks, hereÂ’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary or stand out in their respective segments get EditorsÂ’ Pick status. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in March that earned the honor of being an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2021 Ford Bronco Sport 2021 Ford Bronco Sport First Edition View 32 Photos Quick take: Ford's baby Bronco is an authentic foil to the big Bronco 2-Door and 4-Door. It brings rugged styling, better-than-average off-road capability and thoughtful utility features to a generic segment of cars. Score: 8 What it competes with: Jeep Compass, Jeep Cherokee, Mazda CX-30, Subaru Crosstrek, Kia Seltos, Chevrolet Trailblazer Pros: Stellar design, excellent off-road, clever interior details throughout Cons: Pricier than most, average transmission, underwhelming interior quality and ambiance in lowest trims From the editors: Road Test Editor Zac Palmer — “I genuinely enjoy driving this cute crossover. It feels like a mini truck on the road, and Ford admirably translated the design from its big Bronco over to this Escape-based crossover. News Editor Joel Stocksdale — "The Bronco Sport isn't perfect, the transmission could use some work, and it's a little bumpy, but it's a characterful little thing with loads of style, great visibility and space, and impressive capabilities on and off road in the powerful Badlands form." In-depth analysis: 2021 Ford Bronco Sport Review | Bronco for the masses  2021 Land Rover Defender 2021 Land Rover Defender 110 View 64 Photos Quick take: The Land Rover Defender provides everything you'd hope for in a modern Land Rover: superlative off-road capability, surprisingly plush on-road demeanor, abundant interior space and abundant character. The base four-cylinder is likely all you'll need and lower trim levels provide more than enough equipment.
