NO RESERVE!! CAR SELLS TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER!!

Up for sale today is my 1930 Ford Model A Coupe that was restored approximately 8 years ago. Car was restored back to original condition along with a few modern upgrades such as sealed beam headlights, upgraded water pump shaft, aluminum windshield frame and an aftermarket hood prop to protect the paint when the hood is opened. It retains the original 6 volt positive ground electrical system. A new battery was just installed and the generator is in proper working order.

All the electrical components in the car work as they should; high and low beam headlights, taillight, brake light, horn and AMP gauge. The fuel gauge and speedometer work as well. I checked the speedometer with my GPS and it's +/- 1 or 2mph at speed. Timing advance lever, throttle lever, throttle pedal and choke are all hooked up and working properly. Parking brake is connected and working properly. The chassis/suspension was greased and the brakes adjusted while the car was on the lift to take the undercarriage photos.

The 4 cylinder flathead engine and 3 speed trans are in flawless working order. It starts right up every time and runs and drives great! It appears that the engine has been completely overhauled given it's external appearance (new gaskets, seals, hardware, etc.) and it's flawless operating condition, however, I can not verify this through any paperwork or receipts as I did not receive any when I purchased the vehicle. I think you will agree though once you have inspected the vehicle for yourself.

Interior is in great shape with no rips, tears or stains in any of the upholstery. Seat is still nice and springy when you sit in it. Original style rubber floor mat is in great shape as well with no holes or tears. The doors work great and shut tight. Windows roll up and down and windshield tilts out smoothly. It's a very solid/tight car when driving down the road, no squeaks, rattles, etc.

Paint is in good shape overall but is not show car quality paint. It has cracks/chips/scratches as to be expected of any 8 year old restoration that has been driven. It shines great and is perfect for a nice driver that you don't have to panic about when the kids try and climb up on the fenders (hey, everybody likes a shiny red Model A!)

The photos listed are not the only ones I have, just the ones I could fit here! Send me your e-mail address and I'll e-mail you a file with over 100 photos of the car and a video of the engine starting and running.

I have a clear 1930 Ford title in hand ready for transfer. Car is located in Fredericksburg Virginia 22407.

If you want to view the car or have any questions feel free to call me anytime at 540-850-0115

Ford Q1 profits dragged down by warranty costs

Fri, 25 Apr 2014

General Motors isn't the only Detroit automaker posting falling profits in the first quarter. Ford just released its Q1 2014 financial data, and it reported a net income of $989 million, down $622 million from Q1 2013. The drop is partially blamed on higher warranty and recall expenses than the company had anticipated.
Financially, Ford suffered a rough quarter almost across the board. Its pre-tax profit of $1.4 billion was also down $765 million from a year ago. Things were even worse in the North American market where operating profit fell significantly to $1.5 billion, down from $2.392 billion in Q1 2013. However, its global revenue ticked up slightly to $35.9 billion, from $35.6 billion in this period in 2013.
Ford admitted that it spent about $900 million on expenses that it hadn't planned for during this quarter. According to Reuters, the company paid about $400 million in additional warranty and recall costs in North America. The automaker didn't explain why the costs were so much higher than expected. However, in the last three months, Ford has had several recalls, including on the 2001-2004 Escape for rust, Explorer for its steering, Edge for its fuel line and others.

Weekly Recap: Jaguar takes a leap with price cut, new strategy

Sat, Sep 5 2015

Jaguar was one of the famous automotive props and plotlines in the now-iconic drama Mad Men. There's a scene where the show's protagonist, Don Draper, deftly undercuts an influential Jaguar dealer by indicating that get-me-in-the-door local radio spots would be an effective way to sell cars like the slinky E-Type. The British executives think this is folly – Draper knows they will – and his advertising strategy wins out over the dealer's approach to move the metal. Jaguar's not doing that, but half a century later in the real world the company is launching plans to make its cars more attainable to new and younger customers like Millenials. These aren't coupons, but this is a leap for Jaguar, which has long banked on sexy styling and its rich motorsports history to overshadow its past mechanical flaws. Put simply, Jaguar is addressing the reasons why people, especially the younger set, don't buy its cars. The 2017 XE will start at $35,895 when it launches next spring – which makes it an attractive buy for a successful, relatively young person. When it's time to move up, the redesigned XF will be more attainable, coming in at $52,895, which is $5,275 less than the 2015 model. The flagship XJ sedan and the enthusiast-oriented F-Type sports car will also get thousands of dollars worth of added standard features, and Jag is actively pitching them as a better value than their competitors. "The Jaguar brand is on the eve of a major transformation that will see it dramatically increase its presence in the United States luxury marketplace with an expanded lineup, pricing focused on the core of the luxury market, and an all-new ownership package with best-in-class coverage," Joe Eberhardt, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover North America, said in a statement. The brand's quality and reliability dings have also lurked in the back of buyers' minds for decades, though that's an outdated notion. Jaguar placed third in J.D. Power's Initial Quality Study in June and was the top-ranked luxury brand in J.D. Power's Customer Service Index in March. Not content, the company is rolling out an enhanced program called Jaguar EliteCare that launches on 2016 models. It offers a five-year, 60,000-mile limited warranty, the longest among its competitors, with free scheduled maintenance during that period. The plan also covers roadside assistance and connectivity features.

Ford recalls select Explorer, E-Series vans

Tue, 21 Jan 2014

Just a few days ago we brought you news that Ford had issued a recall on 28,000 units of the Edge crossover for problems related to the fuel line. But now the Blue Oval has issued recall notices on two more of its larger vehicles.
The first relates to the Explorer, 395 examples of which from the 2011 and 2012 model years were found to have problems with their steering systems if they underwent service after September 1, 2013. An apparent software glitch could lock the steering gear, preventing the driver from steering the vehicle and thereby increasing the risk of a crash. As a result, Ford dealers are being instructed to check their records to identify the problematic vehicles and bring them in to have the steering gear replaced. Details of the recall can be found in the PDF linked here.
The second problem revolves around E-Series vans that may develop bubbles in their windshields under hot temperatures. The decrease in visibility through the problematic windshield could - you guessed it - "increase the risk of a crash." As a result, Ford is calling in 4,532 units of the E-150, E-250, E-350 and E-450 vans built in the relatively short window between May 12 and May 26, 2011. Details of this recall can be found in the notice below from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
