1929 Ford Model A Truck, Rare Factory Dually, Farm Truck, Must See on 2040-cars

You won't believe this truck! Rare 1 ton dually! Bought at Mecum Auction in 2013 so I did not restore it. However, I will be glad to tell you what I see and have found out. Serial # on the engine appears to be a match to the VIN # so I have a strong hunch this is the original motor. I took pictures of the serial # on the motor and firewall. You can see some of the last digits clearly match the VIN #. She starts the first time, almost every time. Has a starter advance and throttle on the steering wheel. The only add on that appears not to be original on the dash was a key that had been added to turn the battery on and off. I had to have an old guy show me how to treat her and start her. Once I mastered what she likes, she fires up for me the first time, every time. We start and run her once a week. I have always kept her in the garage and that appears to be where she has spent most of her life before me. I am currently burning marine fuel with octane boost in it. Interior is in great condition. The seats and doors are done in a black woven material. Carpet is new and appears to be an insert. Windows and front windshield let down and out. Horn blows. Lights come on. Still kept the original 6 volt system. Wheels are so cool! Seem to have a flat spot on them from sitting in the showroom because the ride is a little rough. Never drove her enough to have a problem with that. I mainly bought it as a prop for my business and then we decided to go a different direction with our advertising. Truck runs great! The little history we could find said the old girl sat in a showroom of a Ford/Lincoln dealership in Oklahoma City before it went to auction. It appears from the shape she is in, she was there for a long time because of lack of rust. There are a few surface scratches but that's about it. She got a scratch in her paint on the left front fender when it was transported to me in Mobile, Alabama. No dent, just had the paint scuffed. Wanted to point that out. Bed appears to be made of stained, 2X4 and 2X6 pine boards. Great condition. Never hauled anything so I can't speak to function but it is very sturdy. Cab roof also appears to be wooden, covered in vinyl. Since I bought it after this was installed, this is just what I see. Floorboard is also wooden. From what I have learned after owning this vehicle, wood was used routinely. This truck is such a solid old truck that I really wouldn't have a problem selling it to my own family if they had a need for her. Hate to part with her but I am moving and will no longer have the great garage to store her. It's kind of like parting with family. See and hear how she runs in the following YouTube video we shot this morning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUxnHsRWdeU Of course this vehicle is sold, as is, where is with all defects and faults. No warranty expressed or implied. |

Ford hurt by 2015 F-150 production restraints
Tue, Mar 10 2015The new 2015 Ford F-150 came out of the gate strong for January 2015 with all F-Series sales up 17 percent for the month. However, February tempered those gains a bit with the model line dipping 1.2 percent, and the Ford brand itself dropped 1.7 percent year-over-year. The fall is being blamed in part on tight supply of the latest pickup. A major factor holding back the 2015 F-150 is that they are only currently being made at the Dearborn Truck Plant. The Kansas City factory is still changing over, and full supply from them both is expected by the middle of the year. Ford also just announced plans to hire an extra 1,550 people to build the pickups, including 900 in Kansas City. However, the downtime in the assembly changeover has caused about 90,000 units in lost production since mid-2014, according to The Detroit Free Press. It's not all bad news for the pickup, though. The latest F-150 made up 21 percent of F-Series sales in February, according to The Detroit Free Press, up from 18 percent in the previous month, and they remained on dealer lots an average of 18 days. The lessened supply has also meant lower incentives. Mark LaNeve, Ford's US marketing boss, told the Free Press that average F-150 transaction prices were up $2,000 from last year. He also indicated that retail figures grew seven percent in February, while F-Series fleet numbers were down 18 percent. The constrained supply does come at an inopportune time for Ford, though. This year is expected to be huge for pickups. Also, lower gas prices appear to be pushing people towards SUVs and trucks recently. Related Video:

Ford F-150 SVT Raptor sales jumping to new heights
Thu, 12 Sep 2013Ford can't seem to build F-150 SVT Raptors fast enough. The off-road-ready trucks have been one of the Blue Oval's most reliable sellers, with record sales in eight of the last 10 months and a 14-percent jump in 2013. That's impressive enough, considering that the least expensive Raptor starts at $44,000. Factor in the modded F-150's fuel economy (it's rated at 11 miles per gallon in the city and 16 on the highway) and a national average gas price, as of this writing, of $3.55 per gallon, and its success is as unlikely as Ford's home team, the Detroit Lions, winning the Super Bowl this year (sorry, Lions fans, we're just quoting the experts in Vegas...).
Yet for some reason, Raptors spend an average of just 15 days on dealer lots before being snapped up, which is a quarter of the 60-day industry average. According to Ford's truck group marketing manager, Doug Scott, it's capability that keeps the Raptor selling strong. "What's helping drive Raptor sales is that Raptor delivers unmatched off-road performance to our customers. Raptor is also proof of our commitment to offer a truck for every customer and continuously improving them to meet our customers' evolving needs."
To address the strong demand for Raptors, Ford will bump production from three trucks per hour to five. Not much, we agree. But building an extra 48 trucks per day, at most, seems like a prudent way of addressing demand without oversaturating what is ultimately a niche market. Check out the press release below for more.
