Citrus Heights, California, United States

Offered at a no reserve auction is a really solid 1963 Galaxie convertible.  It is not restored, but a very good driver.  390 Bigblock V8, automatic trans, 9" rear end. Has power steering, upgraded to disc brakes with dual reservoir master cylinder, and power top.  motor has edelbrock intake and carb with original chrome valve covers, and dual exhaust. Sounds great but not loud.  The top assembly works great but will need the actual material installed. Frame/pumps/ etc. are all intact and work excellent!!!  We never used it in the winter so didn't worry too much about the top.  Car runs and drives very well, stays cool, and has a brand new set of white wall's on it.  Motor was recently tuned up with plugs/wires/and any hoses it needed.  Transmission shifts excellent and power steering works great!    It is a California built and owned car since new. has original California black and yellow license plates and is currently registered.   I will be happy to get any pictures of the car that you may want to see. there is no rust!   We are trying to make room for a new project we bought so its time to let the galaxie go.  Would be hard to find a solid galaxie convertible like this that is able to be driven and used while it is restored.  The timing is perfect to buy for a summer cruiser for your family. Please understand I absolutely try to describe cars I sell as accurately as possible and my feedback reflects that.   We are more than happy to work with international buyers and help arrange international or local shipping through our carrier.  Fly in and drive it home or ship it the choice is yours!!!      We try to make each transaction as smooth as possible and ask that the buyers do the same. Please understand this is a no reserve auction and if you have the high bid at auction close, we expect you to complete the transaction within the required time frames listed in the auction details. International buyers that may need time to make transfers please contact us prior to auction close and we can work with you.

Good luck and thank you for looking.

40+ cars that barely avoid the gas guzzler tax

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

The Gas Guzzler schedule, with mpg ratings and charges that haven't changed since 1991, lays out which fuel-swillers owe what to Uncle Sam.
I started thinking about the "Gas Guzzler Tax" - considerably less well known as The Energy Tax Act of 1978 - when I was driving Dodge's new Challenger SRT Hellcat last week. Unsurprisingly for a car that can burn 1.5 gallons of gas per minute at max tilt, theoretically able to empty a full tank of premium in about 13 minutes, the Hellcat will be subject to the Gas Guzzler Tax schedule when it goes on sale.

Ford hiring 2,200 salaried US workers this year

Fri, 11 Jan 2013

With its influx of popular new products made in the US, Ford Motor Company has announced that it intends to hire 2,200 new salaried workers domestically this year. This is the biggest increase of salaried workers for Ford in the last 10 years, and it is all a part of Ford's contract commitment to the United Auto Workers union to bring 12,000 new jobs to the US by 2015.
There were no specifics as to where in the US these job openings will be, but Ford did reiterate that it will be spending $773 million on equipment upgrades and capacity expansion at six plants located in southeast Michigan; as a whole, Ford is investing a total of $6.2 billion to its US assembly plants over the next couple years. According to recently appointed president of the Americas Joe Hinrichs, the new jobs will be focused on areas such as engineering, manufacturing and computer software. Ford will post its job openings online at careers.ford.com, and it will also use social media sites like Facebook and Twitter to recruit new workers, including military veterans.
Scroll down for more about Ford's planned job growth as well as how to go about applying for said openings.

Ford, Samsung shack up to bring regen braking to non-hybrid models [w/video]

Mon, 09 Jun 2014

Ford must be desperate to get itself ready for the beach this summer because it is really trying to get into shape. Shortly after unveiling the Lightweight Concept that cut the weight of a Fusion down to that of a Fiesta, it's now the rest of the line's turn for improvement. The company is wrapping up a 10-year research project aimed at developing next-gen automotive batteries to improve efficiency.
Ford claims that 70 percent of its lineup will have stop/start tech by 2017. The key to this massive proliferation is its new dual-battery system that combines a lithium-ion battery with a lead-acid one and regenerative braking. The setup works by harvesting braking energy and converting it to electricity. When the vehicle stops, the engine shuts off, but the Li-ion battery has enough juice to keep the accessories running. The engine starts up again as drivers take their foot off the brake. The layout would mean less wasted gas while idling. It's already available on Ford hybrids and is somewhat similar to the i-Eloop capacitor-based system from Mazda.
The bigger challenge is tuning the regenerative braking right. While hybrid drivers may be a little more adventurous, when it comes to getting a hang of regen braking, conventional buyers might not be so open-minded. The systems have a tendency to be a little grabby at first and then taper off at very low speeds. Ford needs to make sure it's just right to avoid turning off buyers.
