1967 Ford Galaxie Convertible on 2040-cars

Thanks for looking! I am selling my 1967 Ford Galaxie convertible. I bought it in 2006 and believe I am the fourth owner (I even have the original owner’s manual and other documents). It has been garage kept since I have had it and the previous owner kept it garaged for the 7 years prior to my purchase. This car is not a project car (though with any almost 50 year old car, it will always have some things to work on…and I will identify some below). It is dependable and ready to go. To be honest, I have not ruled out making this car my daily car….it would be cool but I’m not sure its right to do so with a classic even though I would trust it as such. Everything is not original (major items are) but it is awfully close. I have a clear TITLE in hand and it is currently licensed in Arkansas. This vehicle is in excellent MECHANICAL condition and has been well maintained. It has the original 390 big block engine (the carburetor was originally a single two barrel but has been swapped for a four barrel intake and carburetor). Before I bought it, the engine was pulled for a complete overhaul with everything replaced except crank. In the last year, I have professionally had brakes overhauled and the C6 transmission rebuilt. I have replaced the gas tank with a new tank and have replaced the radiator with an OEM style radiator. The WHEELS and TIRES pictured are relatively new and have lots of wear left. They are oversized and make the vehicle look great. I do have the original wheels and hubcaps as well and will convey them with the car. The INTERIOR is in good shape. Seats, carpet, and upholstery have been replaced. The car has the original under dash air conditioning (it works as designed but it isn’t a modern AC unit). The EXTERIOR is pretty good shape as well. The paint is about 10 years old and as such has some stone chips etc but it still looks good. The red color is the original color. The power convertible top works well and has no leaks. The convertible top was replaced when the car was painted. There is a tear in the rear passenger area (see photo). I decided not to replace it or deal with it otherwise since I pretty much drive it only with the top down. The bumpers are fine but I would rechrome them if I wanted to show the car (see photos as well). The frame has some rust but seems solid. I have some spare parts. They will convey as well. Price. I know one of the biggest questions is always “So how did you arrive at a price?” Initially, I looked it up on NADA. The average retail is $15,455. The high retail is $24,420. I know the car is more average than high. Similarly, I looked at the Hagerty valuation tool. It puts the cars in conditions (with 1 being best). Feel free to go to their website and look at how they describe them in more detail (or I can email you this car’s pdf), but in a nutshell: · Condition #1 vehicles are the best in the world. The one word description for #1 cars is
"concours." This car at
condition 1: $29,600 ·
Condition #2
cars could win a local or regional show. The one word description for #2 cars
is "excellent." This car at
Condition #2: $21,900. · Condition #3 cars could possess some, but not all of the issues of a #4 car, but they will be balanced by other factors such as a fresh paint job or a new, correct interior. #3 cars drive and run well, but might have some incorrect parts. These cars are not used for daily transportation but are ready for a long tour without excuses, and the casual passerby will not find any visual flaws. "Good" is the one word description of a #3 car. This car at Condition #3: $15,800. · #4 cars are daily drivers, with flaws visible to the naked eye. The chrome might have pitting or scratches, the windshield might be chipped. Paintwork is imperfect, and perhaps the fender has a minor dent. The interior could have split seams or a cracked dash. No major parts are missing, but the wheels could differ from the originals, or the interior might not be stock. A #4 car can also be a deteriorated restoration. "Fair" is the one word that describes a #4 car. This car at Condition #4: $10,000. So, this car is not concours and I think it would be competitive at a local car show but still not a 2. It is closest to 3 in my mind. That pretty much puts Hagerty and NADA in line with one another so I took that median price and backed it off to price it fairly. I want you to know that this is a good vehicle and I want the buyer to be happy and feel that they got an honest deal. I think if you compare this to other listings, you will see that this vehicle stacks up nicely when you compare the mileage, features, and condition. Please note that I am offering this vehicle locally and I reserve the right to end this listing at any time. Please contact me if you have any questions. I have more pictures and will be glad to take specific pictures upon request. Also, if you are interested in flying in, I will be glad to pick you up at the Little Rock airport. Thanks for looking! |

Ford posts decade-best $2.1B profit in Q1 2013
Wed, 24 Apr 2013As predicted, Ford has reported that its first quarter of 2013 was a resounding success overall, with a pretax profit of $2.1 billion ($0.41 per share), and a net income of $1.6 billion ($0.40 per share). In fact, Ford made a pretax profit of some $2.4 billion in its home North American market, with that total number being pulled down by losses in South America and Europe. That gaudy North American profit is the strongest result by the automaker since 2000.
Ford's companywide profit for Q1 was down $147 million from one year ago, while the net income number marked an increase of $215 million year over year. Overall, this is Ford's 15th-consecutive profitable quarter.
The bad news from the European market was even worst in Q1 2013 than it was last year. Pretax losses of $462 million - on revenue of $6.7 billion - represented a year-over-year change of -$313 million. In South American, the company reported a loss of $218 million, down from a slim profit of $54 million in Q1 2012. The news was better for Ford Asia Pacific Africa, where a $6 million pretax profit in 2013 showed a year-over-year gain of some $101 million when compared to losses in 2012. IIHS updates overlap test: 2 SUVs get good marks, 9 fare poorly
Tue, Dec 13 2022Vehicles in crashes keep occupants safe by deforming around the cabin in a way that maintains cabin integrity. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's moderate overlap test, introduced in 1995, has been a huge contributor to improved safety for front-row passengers in a crash. IIHS President David Harkey said, "Thanks to automakers’ improvements, drivers in most vehicles are nearly 50% less likely to be killed in a frontal crash today than they were 25 years ago." In the 'unintentional side effects' column, crash safety has gotten worse for passengers in the back seats. When carmakers reengineered the front crash structure to protect the driver, more crash forces got distributed throughout the rear. IIHS research claims rear passengers have a 46% greater risk of fatal injury than front-row passengers, but back-seaters haven't benefited from the same upgrades in safety as the front row. The IIHS updated its moderate overlap test to address the issue, putting 15 vehicles through the new regime. Two earned good ratings — the 2023 Ford Escape and the 2021-2023 Volvo XC40 — one was acceptable, three were marginal and nine were rated poor. Every one of the crossovers sampled got good marks for all passengers in the original test. That test sees 40% of vehicle's width on the driver's side impacting an aluminum honeycomb barrier at 40 miles per hour. The updated test puts a crash dummy representing small woman or 12-year-old child in the seat behind the driver, the dummy's sensors and grease paint measuring the effectiveness of the restraints and the forces a human body would need to endure. To achieve a good rating, the "measurements must not exceed limits indicating excessive risk of injury to the head, neck, chest, abdomen or thigh." An institute engineer said, "In real-world crashes, chest injuries are the most common serious rear-seat injuries for adults." The sensors and video evidence showed back seat dummies in the Escape and XC40 endured minimal risk of injuries from excessive crash forces, from submarining under the seat belt, or from unwanted interaction with the side curtain airbag.  The Toyota RAV4 scored acceptable. The second-row dummy also endured minimal risk of injury to the chest and lower extremities. However, the lap belt slipped upward in a way that could increase abdominal injuries, and after the dummy's head dipped during crash impact, the head came back up between the rear curtain airbag and rear window.
NHTSA closes Ford F-Series Super Duty steering probe without recall
Wed, 05 Feb 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's investigation into 2008 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty pickups, which was originally opened last year, has now ended without a recall. NHTSA was looking into steering failures on some 336,000 trucks.
The issue rested with the steering gear - NHTSA received five complaints of failures - which was redesigned in 2005. According to the report on the matter, investigators "found evidence of broken sector shaft gear teeth and piston damage consistent with incidents of single event overload."
NHTSA investigators, however, "found no evidence of fatigue or material property defects in any of the fractures. Analysis of complaint rates by vehicle build month showed no patterns indicating potential manufacturing quality issues and no difference before and after Ford introduced design changes to the input shaft and sector shaft seals in July 2007 to address potential leak concerns," according to the report, obtained by The Detroit News.
