I am selling this car for my brother in law and is about the most original car that I have seen in a long time. All the interior, drivetrain, paint, carpets, headliner, seats, door panels, trunk mat are all original and please look at my pictures. The only paint work every done on the car was the trunk lid was painted about 10 years ago and at that same time they rechromed the front and rear bumper. The rest of the paint and body are all original with no rust and in very good condition. The dual exhaust was replaced a few years back and the carburetor was also rebuild along with the brakes front and rear. Under the car is excellent condition with only very light surface rust that could be wired brushed and painted to look like new. This is a original car not restored that looks better than a lot restored car that I have seen in the past. I have been a body and paint man for over 40 years and have restored 100's of classic muscles cars and this about a good of original car that you will find. This car has always been garaged and was bought new in Madison NC and comes with the original key ring and both sets of original keys. My brother in law bought this car from the original owners estate at the time of his death about 7 years ago and decided to sell it as he will be moving soon and won't have room for it inside and he not going to let it set outside. All the moldings and trim are in very good condition with only one bad spot being the molded dash pad at the speaker cover as seen in the pictures. I know pictures can fool you but this car is that nice and runs and drives like new. Ford bringing adaptive steering to the masses [w/video]
Thu, 29 May 2014Within the next year, Ford will offer a brand-new adaptive steering system (unimaginatively dubbed "Ford Adaptive Steering"), and this week, the automaker invited us out to its proving grounds in Dearborn, MI to get a taste for how its new setup works. In function, Ford's system doesn't greatly differ from the majority of other adaptive steering units already on the market from companies like Audi or BMW, but consider this: Ford will be the first non-luxury automaker to offer this technology, and uniquely, the whole system fits inside the car's steering wheel.
Ford's engineers have worked hard to create a system that can be tacked on to the company's full lineup of cars, trucks and utility vehicles, and says that the adaptive steering will be uniquely tuned for each specific vehicle. The automaker will not confirm exactly which vehicle will launch with this technology, but for the purpose of our preview, we tested the technology in a 2014 Fusion - a vehicle with already-good behind-the-wheel feel, one that the company says best demonstrates its current steering efforts.
Jaguar design boss admits X-Type was a mistake
Thu, 19 Sep 2013History has a way of repeating itself, especially in the auto industry. When Jaguar was owned by Ford, the British brand attempted to field a competitor for the BMW 3 Series, called the X-Type. Based on the bones of a Ford Mondeo, it aped the styling of Jaguar's flagship model, the XJ, while borrowing liberally from the Ford parts bin. That was 2001.
Now, in 2013, Jaguar is planning a new 3 Series challenger based on the platform previewed by the C-X17 Concept, while Ford is attempting to take the latest Mondeo upmarket. The moves have both brands recognizing where, why, and how the X-Type failed. "It didn't look mature or powerful or anything. It was just a car," Jaguar's current head of advanced design, Julian Thomson, told PistonHeads. Basing the X-Type on a front-drive car while giving it styling that was meant for a rear-driver lead to proportions that "were plainly wrong," Thomson told PH. Ford's European head of quality, Gunnar Herrmann, added that the X-Type was "a fake Jaguar, because every piece I touch is Ford."
For what it's worth, the X-Type's successor in the segment will sport rear-drive, with plenty of input from Ian Callum. Thomson described the new model, which would challenge the 3 Series as having, "Big wheels right to the ends of the car, low bonnet, short overhangs, very low cabins." Sounds good to us.

The reporter headed to Dearborn, MI to Ford's assembly plant, with a film crew in tow, to see exactly how his new F-150 SVT Raptor and its mother-loving 6.2-liter V8 engine, was screwed together.
The resulting video does an excellent job of summing up how an assemblage of parts and pieces is turned into a triple-black Raptor, thanks to the work of some 1,000 employees and about 20 hours of real time.
