Cut and paste the following link for a more exhaustive view of this vehicle...running, driving and overall condition: http://youtu.be/4r8C095xKrw

For your consideration, I am selling my 2013 Ford Focus SE, Hatchback. This vehicle is in excellent condition with 5,450 (five thousand, four-fifty) miles, 2.0 liter inline four cylinder fuel injected DOHC gasoline engine, automatic transmission with console shift, front wheel drive and four wheel anti-lock disc brakes.

I am the second owner of this Ford Focus SE and it is an excellent looking, running and driving vehicle which offers a combined 33 plus MPG with approximately 325 (city) to 450 (hwy) mileage range per 12.4 gallon tank of fuel. The 2.0 liter engine is extremely clean, electronic ignition starts immediately without hesitation, runs smoothly and quietly at idle, does not miss or smoke and produces 160 hp and 162 ft-lbs of torgue. The engine is mated to an automatic 6-speed transmission which shifts seamlessly and is very responsive in passing gears. This is a compact/economy car (for insurance purposes) but rides and drives more like a mid-size car with plenty of room for a driver and four passengers, loads of horse-power, responsive handling, excellent braking and produces a ride quality unbeatable for a vehicle in this category.

The exterior of this vehicle is nearly flawless and shows extremely well; the paint is beautiful medium blue candy metallic-pearl in very good condition with high gloss and deep shine. The body panels are laser straight with no dents, dings or physical damage. All glass is clean and clear and the power windows raise/lower as anticipated. The wheels are 16" aluminum five spoke in perfect condition with Continental Conti-Procontact tires also in like new condition. The hatchback compartment is very spacious and the spare tire, wheel well and tire tool kit are in unused condition. All exterior lights work and function as they should.

The interior feature beige hybrid material, adjustable front bucket seats with lumbar support and a rear bench seat in excellent condition. The carpet is flawless charcoal; the headliner is clean and tight. The dash is in perfect condition as well as the center console and arm rest. Conveniences include: power mirrors, cruise control, remote trunk release; hands free calling, stereo CD player with steering wheel controls and 6 speakers, MP3 auxiliary port, 12 volt adapter, in dash computer, Blue Tooth link, vanity mirror inserts, Destination Guidance Service capable and Sirius XM. The heater warms quickly and the air blows ice cold. All interior gauges and lights function as they should, owner's manual and factory literature is included within the glove compartment as well as two keys with remote locking, trunk release and alarm mode.

As noted this vehicle will come with an Illinois issued rebuilt title. Within the first year of purchase, this vehicle side swiped another vehicle causing minor damage to the passenger side rear door and quarter panel. These items were professionally repaired by a reputable local collision center and fully inspected by the IL Secretary of State. As was explained to me at the time of purchase, the original owner had full-replacement coverage and thus the vehicle was replaced by the insurance company which by default labeled this vehicle as rebuilt. I have spoken with and have the contact information for the repair center where the repair was completed and I would be happy to pass this information along to you if you desire further verification.

The Ford Focus SE is categorized as an compact/economy hatchback, well appointed, comfortable and reliable. I believe any interested party would agree that this definition applies to the vehicle I am offering for sale; with 5450 original miles, it is extremely close to perfect. This Focus is a no excuses vehicle; synthetic oil/filter are newly changed, 32 point inspection at my local Ford Dealership (all good), the car has been fully detailed, there are no warning lights illuminated on the instrument cluster, this car will need nothing at the time of purchase. It is a very comfortable and extremely easy to operate, own and maintain vehicle. Drive any distance at any time and maintain excellent fuel economy while doing it. I encourage you to inspect this vehicle in person or have this vehicle inspected by any automotive service you deem trustworthy. . .but you will not be disappointed, this is a very nice looking, running and driving car in as-new condition.

Here's how Detroit is selling more luxury vehicles than Germany and Japan

Sun, Dec 14 2014

Now there's an attention-grabbing headline, eh? Although the answer to the riddle - pickup trucks and SUVs - might be somehow deflating, the numbers involved deserve a going over. According to TrueCar's figures (click on the table to enlarge), six of the year's ten best-selling vehicles in the US that sell for a transaction price above $50,000 are body-on-frame, and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the only foreigner to crack the top five. Every enthusiast knows that pickup trucks are 'Murica's most popular vehicle by a colossal margin, and there have been plenty of reports about the popularity of luxuriously appointed trucks and SUVs, but compare these figures from TrueCar: 70 percent of Chevrolet Tahoe sales have a transaction price above $50K, and The Bowtie is expected to make $3.9 billion in revenue on 66,945 predicted high-dollar sales; 95.1 percent of E-Class sales break $50K, so the German company will make $4.0 billion on 67,006 predicted sales in that pricing sphere. It's about the only time you'll see the Tahoe ranked right next to Mercedes' bread-and-butter sedan. Ram is ahead of those two with $4.2B coming from $50K-plus sales. The Ford F-Series does almost as much revenue as the next three combined, with an expected $10.8 billion coming from sales of trucks over $50K - more than a quarter of the model's total sales, when a base F-150 can be had for about $26,000. Yes, the Germans make a lot more money on fewer sales, but considering the comparison, the bottom line isn't too troubled by such facts. Weighing like-for-like, the full-size Ford walks it in every category; elsewhere, the Chevrolet Silverado outsells the Ram, but the Ram outsells the Chevy by 6.7 percent above $50K. And for all the flak GMC takes over swapping out grilles, the Sierra also outsells the Chevy in the well-appointed segment, 16.1 percent of sales versus 11 percent – the Professional Grade brand is a huge profit center for The General. You'll find more info in the TrueCar press release below. TrueCar finds pickup trucks far outsell premium brands among top 10 vehicles over $50,000 Ford F-Series pickup sales over $50,000 surpass combined BMW 3, 5, 7 Series luxury car sales SANTA MONICA, Calif. Ford Focus 1.0-liter Ecoboost to only get manual trans in US

Sun, 23 Feb 2014

Photos of the 2015 Ford Focus leaked earlier today, but now we're able to tell you more details of the global five-door hatchback. Bucking automaker's troubling trend of ditching manual transmissions in favor of automatics, Ford says the new 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine will come only in a six-speed manual in the US, because, well, American drivers aren't as sophisticated as our European brothers and sisters.
Ford didn't come out and say it that way, but it has found American drivers are more prone to complain about automatics in smaller-engine cars, Raj Nair, Ford's group vice president of global product development, said at a press conference last week. The recent JD Power Vehicle Dependability Study backs up Ford's claims, pointing out that drivers are complaining about rough transmission shifts, engine hesitation and lack of power, particularly in small cars. In Europe and other parts of the world, drivers seem to understand the quirks of these pint-sized engines, Nair said, so they'll have the option to buy an automatic. Ford is working on tuning its dual-clutch transmissions to make them more amenable to American driver's tastes.
Ford will show off the refreshed 2015 Focus at the Geneva Motor Show in early March. The car is due for an update, having been on sale in its current form since 2012. The automaker said it is jamming the car full of new technology - like a USB port that promises to charge your phone in half the time as a regular USB port. Features like Sync and a rear back-up camera will come standard. For a more in-depth look at the car, take a look at the full press release.

UK's Loughborough University improving Ford's 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine

Wed, May 21 2014

How much does it cost for college students to study zero emissions vehicles? At Loughborough University in the UK, a new Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) is being built at a cost of a billion pounds ($1.7 billion US). The school has just announce that it will fund a number of grad student positions and is creating a new Chair in Advanced Propulsion Systems, which sounds like a fun job to us. We're weird like that. There will be a total of four professor-type positions in the new Center, including the chair, all focused on teaching students about low-carbon vehicle technologies, specifically electric and hybrid ones. The school is investing 1.5 million pounds ($2.5 million) for the new positions. There is a bigger picture as well, a 26-million pound ($44 million) Advanced Combustion Turbocharged Integrated Variable-valvetrain Engine (ACTIVE) project, which uses funds not only from the school but also from Ford and others. The point of ACTIVE is to study Ford's 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine and "improve further its efficiency and ensure it exceeds 2020 emission regulations." This is already a popular engine for the automaker, and it will need to stay at the bleeding edge of efficiency to remain as important in 2020 as it is today. Loughborough University has been working with automakers on advanced energy technologies for years, for example with Rolls-Royce and fuel cells in 2007 and the Lotus Hotfire engine in 2008. University invests GBP1.5M in advanced propulsion research to advance zero emissions vehicles challenge Loughborough University is investing GBP1.5M over five years in strategic research appointments, inspired by the global challenge to develop the new advanced propulsion technologies required for the move to zero emission vehicles. These appointments reinforce the University's world-class research in low-carbon vehicle technologies, adding new dimensions concerned with electric and hybrid drives. Four appointments will be made, including a Chair in Advanced Propulsion Systems, supported by a number of PhD studentships. The GBP1.5M investment is part of the University's commitment to the recently announced Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) to support the development of new supply chains for low carbon vehicles. APC is an initiative established by the Automotive Council that will see GBP1 billion of investment from government and industry over the next 10 years.
