The 2004 FOCUS WAGON SEMA CONVERSION
This wagon began as an early 2004 Focus SE with the new 2.3L Cosworth Ford Duratec 4 Cylinder aluminum engine. Jeff Biane decided to customize this car for the 2004 SEMA show with the help of Ford and a several sponsors. The purpose was to showcase the Cosworth and Ford SVT parts unique to the Ford Focus. The result is a one of a kind vehicle that could have rolled off the Ford assembly line with specialty parts from SVT and Cosworth. The wagon was completely disassembled including removing all the glass, doors and interior. The body was painted Competition Orange. A new interior was created with unique seat covering, door, dash and roof panels, and new carpeting. Exterior panels include Focus SVT front fascia with Euro grill. Euro ST 170 SVT headlights light the way. The rear fascia was fabricated from a Focus SVT center panel and extended to fit the wagon. Side rocker panels, trim and doors handles were modified and painted the body color. Ford Euro 17 x 7" Dark Argent SVT wheels were added. The Cosworth Stage 3 engine upgrade includes the unique Cosworth intake manifold, large tube exhaust header and high lift intake and exhaust cams assembled on a custom ported DOHC cylinder head. The ECU was re-flashed to take advantage of the improved breathing capacity of the engine. The 2.5" exhaust has an SVT center exhaust outlet. Dyno tested at 205 HP at the wheels. There is a small rear main seal oil leak. The 5 speed was rebuilt at ~35k miles with new bearings and synchros. The 3.42 final drive differential gears have been replaced with a 4.06 set and a Torsen torque biasing differential was added. An aluminum flywheel and Ford Centerforce clutch were also installed at time of rebuild. The chassis has upgraded KW springs, shocks, front struts and larger rear anti-roll bar which combine to provide excellent handling. BAER Racing 13.5", 4 piston caliper front brakes and SVT Focus rear disks provide great stopping power. The unique Cosworth NA engine and transmission upgrades far exceed the SVT Focus and created a uniquely special vehicle. This car has trophied at every car show event I have entered. It has never seen snow and looks like new. Modified drive train is still docile on the street. Quick for a 4 banger. 0 - 60 under 7 seconds. Shipping is available to US or European at buyers additional cost. Any taxes, import duties or fees are exclusively the buyers responsibility. We have arranged many previous vehicle shipments, including international and overseas, over the past several years. |

2014 Ford F-150 Tremor adds some sport to shake things up
Thu, 27 Jun 2013Like most quakes, the 2014 Ford F-150 Tremor caught us by surprise. We weren't expecting Ford to offer up another version of its best-seller so soon before the truck's full redesign, but that's exactly what the company is doing.
While Ford calls the Tremor a "performance truck," the new pickup doesn't play on the same level as the SVT Raptor does on dirt, or even the long-gone SVT Lightning did on pavement. Think of it as a parts bin sport truck that probably does a better job looking the part than acting it. The Tremor utilizes the same twin-turbo, 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 available across the F-150 lineup, producing 365 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, but matches it with a 4.10 rear axle - the shortest final drive ratio you can get in an F-150 - for the strongest possible acceleration.
The Tremor does do a decent job looking the part. Available only in short-wheelbase, regular cab configuration with your choice of two- or four-wheel drive, it struts around wearing the F-150's FX Appearance Package, flat black accents, 20-inch black wheels, HID headlights and a special exterior graphics package. The Tremor is the only regular cab F-150 with a flow-through center console, which means it also gets a floor-mounted shifter and bucket seats that are covered in black leather with red piping. Some brushed metal accents and steering wheel with red stitching round out the interior upgrades.
Recharge Wrap-up: Tesla details factory expansion; Ford and SunPower raise money for Sierra Club
Thu, Nov 20 2014Tesla has revealed the details of the upgrade of its Fremont, CA factory. One major change is the addition of a dedicated production space for the dual-motor P85D version of the Model S. Robots will be doing the battery installation on the Model S to save some time, and new export docks allow Tesla to get the cars out the door and on the way to their new owners more quickly. The new robots that move the cars around the factory have been named after X-Men characters, which makes our inner geeks smile. Check out the factory upgrade in the time-lapse video below and read more at Teslarati or at the Tesla Motors Blog. A program in Beijing for privileged registrations for EVs hasn't had much success. Of the 1,424 lottery winners, only about 30 percent went on to register an electric car despite a two-month extension of the deadline to do so. Buyers are likely discouraged by the lack of charging infrastructure, which the city hopes to ameliorate with the addition of 1,000 new charging stations by the end of the year, and by requiring new and renovated developments to set aside parking specifically for EV charging. Read more at Green Car Reports. The UC Davis Institute of Transportation Studies suggests that laws designed to protect dealers and consumers are stymieing the adoption of EVs. Laws like the ones certain states have in place that block or otherwise restrict Tesla's direct-to-consumer business model are not helpful for companies that want to introduce new products to the market. They prevent companies from passing on savings to customers for whom they would likely make the difference in a purchasing decision. One possible solution would be to allow exemptions to certain selling restrictions for a certain number of vehicles sold. "This could give automakers the degree of control needed to work out kinks with early customers, develop scalable processes for supporting PEVs, and ensure that effective dealer performance standards are in place before handing the reins over to wholly independent retailers," according to UC Davis ITS. Read more at the UC Davis website. Volkswagen says its environmental program, called "Think Blue. Factory," is meeting the automaker's own sustainability targets. The main purpose of the program is to move toward eco-friendlier carmaking at each of its plants worldwide.
Leno recalls '90s showdown with Tim Allen and his mullet
Wed, Oct 7 2015Not many of us have buddies with garages full of classic cars, but that isn't the case for Jay Leno and Tim Allen. Of course, one of the advantages for two guys with such vast collections is occasionally getting to pit their cars against each other. The two comedians did just that in the mid-'90s with a burnout battle on The Tonight Show between Allen in a race-prepped Mustang and Leno in a drag racer. After some time away from regular television, Leno is returning to the airwaves with a Jay Leno's Garage series premiering on Oct. 7 (tonight) at 10:00 p.m. ET on CNBC. Let this clip serve as another taste of what to expect for the new TV show's mix of comedy and cars. After reminiscing about the old days in a gorgeous garage, the comedians get into two modern machines to reprise the classic challenge – after a little trash talk anyway. Don't worry because the YouTube series isn't going anywhere, though.
