This Ford Focus wagon has been an excellent car until it was wrecked last month (November 2013). For me to have the body work repaired isn't economical feasible, but most everything else on the car is in fine working order. The Zetec engine is low mileage, uses no oil, and runs like a top. Highway mileage is 32-mpg on regular gasoline. The transmission shifts and works fine, as does the cruise control. Nimble performance, comfortable seating, and an all around pleasure to drive.

Some of the work done in the past year includes new axles, cv joints, wheel bearings, starter motor, timing belt, pulleys, tensioner, new tires, battery, a/c evaporator, compressor, heater core, new catalytic converter (a $500 part), motor mounts. The braking system has been rebuilt, to include both front rotors, ceramic pads, and both rear wheel cylinders and brake shoes The radio/cd player is new. The list goes on. Receipts are available for all the above.

The engine and transmission together are worth $750, give or take. The tires were $500, and the tread is still like new. This car is ideal for someone with a worn-out Focus in need of excellent used parts, and perfect for someone wanting to convert a Ford Escort from sohc to Zetec dohc.

To reiterate, do not expect to drive this car. It will roll, but the radiator is damaged and will not hold coolant. Tow vehicle/dolly or flatbed is required to transport this car.

Ford gives S-Max the Vignale treatment in Milan

Ford has a bit of a history in reviving the names of old coachbuilders it has long since gobbled up and using them to distinguish its top-of-the-line models in Europe. That's what it did for years with Ghia, and after having replaced it several years ago with the Titanium trim level, now it's doing it again with Vignale.
At the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, Ford revealed the Mondeo Vignale concept in both sedan and wagon body-styles, which are set to reach production next year. But before they do, the Blue Oval automaker is at it again, applying similar upgrades to the S-Max minivan and unveiling it in concept form in Milan this week.
Setting the Vignale concept apart from any other S-Max is its Milano Grigio rose-hued silver pearlescent paint, 21-inch alloys, chrome trim and hexagonal-pattern grille. Inside it's all ultra-soft quilted leather and aluminum trim, with tablet docking stations in the back and thinner, more flexible seats than the existing production version.

Fears that the auto industry is due for a downturn may be fading. Ford posted record profits in the first quarter of 2016, the company announced Thursday. Chief financial officer Bob Shanks said Ford enjoyed its best quarterly performance in history, generating operating profits of $3.8 billion and a record profit margin of 9.8 percent. Overall, the company's $2.5 billion profit in the quarter more than doubled from the 2015 quarterly results. "The first quarter was an absolutely terrific start to the year, an all-time record for the company, with very strong performance across the business," said chief executive officer Mark Fields. "We're excited about our future and confident in our ability to deliver long-term growth and profitability as we expand our business model to be both an auto and a mobility company." During the quarter, Ford announced the creation of Ford Smart Mobility, a new subsidiary that would vet future mobility projects in the realm of car-sharing, fractional ownership and autonomous deployment. The company also kicked off a billion-dollar makeover of its Dearborn, Michigan campus and headquarters. The company's after-tax earnings of $0.68 per share trumped Wall Street's expectations, and were significantly up from $0.39 per share a year ago. The results were buoyed by the company's fourth consecutive quarter of growth in Europe, which comes after a long period of stagnant sales. Ford's earnings results come amid reports that April car sales are on pace to jump 4 percent year over year, which would make it the best-selling April in history. Kelley Blue Book projects that car sales will reach 1.51 million this month, placing the industry on track for 17.5 million vehicles sold in 2016. Even as SUV and crossover sales drive the market, analysts say Nissan and Honda are positioned to benefit from renewed interest in mid-size cars. "Following a disappointing March, we expect sales to get back on track in April with SAAR in the mid-17 million range," said Tim Fleming, analyst for Kelley Blue Book. "Increased fleet sales and rising incentive spending among automakers remain the factors to watch, but the retail demand appears to be holding steady, signaling the industry's strong run isn't over quite yet."
