Up for auction , at no reserve, is a 1968 Ford Fairlane 500 Convertible. This convertible was purchased 5 years from California, still have the Calf. title from previous owner. The body on this convertible is in solid condition. The floors and trunk are in amazing shape. The body does have small dents and dings and is showing small bubbles in areas but remember it is a 46 year old car. I would rate this car as a driver and deserves to be driven. The 302 motor runs strong and has a rebuilt Holley 4bbl on an aluminum Offy manifold with chrome air cleaner, otherwise motor is stock. The automatic transmission does have a slight whine to it but shifts normal with no slipping, might need a fluid and filter change. Cragar SS mags and BF Goodrich tires where purchased 2 years ago. Gas tank and radiator were removed, tested and cleaned. New water pump and tune up. Interior appears to be original, seats in nice shape . Passenger window was removed and needs to be reinstalled. Dash pad is in excellent shape, it has no heat warpage or cracks. Convertible has power top and functions fine. Bought this car with the intentions to drive it but seems it just stays in the garage. Ford readying Ranger-based Everest SUV?
Fri, 21 Feb 2014Way back in August, we showed you a Ford concept for the Australian market called the Everest. Now, we can show you that work on the new Ranger-based SUV is well under way.
At this stage, it's still quite clearly a mule (note the misalignment of the front and rear doors), wearing the Ranger's front end and the rump of Ford's overseas Territory crossover. The wheelbase is shorter than a Ranger, according to our spy photographers, which strikes us as somewhat odd for a more passenger-oriented vehicle. Disc brakes should be fitted at all four corners, while the new SUV, which will almost certainly wear the Everest name, should sport a new rear suspension.
In terms of looks, we're expecting the Everest Concept to inform the appearance of the production model. Naturally, there will also be some interior tweaks, particularly around the dashboard, which is covered in these photos.

2014 is shaping up to be a big year for Ford Motor Company, as it's announced an onslaught of 23 new global product launches which will help create 5,000 new jobs in the US. As part of the new product push, three more manufacturing plants will be opened.
DoJ fines Japanese parts firms $740M in massive automotive price-fixing scandal
Fri, 27 Sep 2013Nine Japanese suppliers have pleaded guilty in US court over charges of price fixing in the automotive parts industry, resulting in the Department of Justice doling out a total of $740 million of fines, according to a report from Bloomberg. The scandal, which has resulted in General Motors, Ford, Toyota and Chrysler spending up to $5 billion on inflated parts and driving up prices on 25 million vehicles has sent the DoJ hustling into investigations. "The conduct this investigation uncovered involved more than a dozen separate conspiracies aimed at the U.S. economy," Attorney General Eric Holder (pictured above) said during yesterday's press conference.
As the investigation stands, the DoJ has issued $1.6 billion in fines against 20 companies and 21 individual executives, with 17 of the execs headed to prison. Deputy Assistant Attorney General Scott Hammond said, "The breadth of the conspiracies brought to light today are as egregious as they are pervasive. They involve more than a dozen separate conspiracies operating independently but all sharing in common that they targeted US automotive manufacturers."
Big-name suppliers indicted in the investigation include Mitsubishi Electric, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi Automotive and Mitsuba Corporation. A list of fines and other corporations named in the investigation is available at Bloomberg.
