Up for auction is a barn fresh 1966 Fairlane XL500 convertible (bucket seats with a console) with 35,000 original miles. Vehicle was sanded down, primed and then stored in 1976. It is a rare optioned XL500 convertible with a 6 cylinder engine. I've collected alot of fairlanes over the years and I don't believe I have ever seen one optioned like this. Ofcourse back then you could order one anyway you wanted. Vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission, power steering, power convertible top, am radio, bucket seats, console, and deluxe wheel covers. The original color is code Z sauterne gold which appears to be more of a very lite metallic green with black interior. The vehicle does has surface rust coming through the primer but don't let that fool you this car is extremely solid throughout. The only rot on the car is a small area of the floor under the driver seat, the rest of the undercarriage, rockers, trunk pan, body mounts, doors, quarter panels in and out are in exceptional condition as the car has always been stored inside. Just before my father purchased it the previous owner just replaced the wheel cylinders, brakes, drums and gave it a tune up. It runs and drives extremely well. It doesn't smoke or leak any fluids and it shifts flawlessly. I 've used it around town and it drives great. All the lights, directionals, gauges and power top operate properly. The original body panels are rust free and extremely straight. The driver quarter has a slight dent. The original interior is in very good condition, the only tare is in one of the seams in the driver seat. The dash pad is cracked around the speaker. The top has tares and rips and needs to be replaced. This is a very nice Fairlane to restore or drive and fix it up as you go. This is a 100% original low mileage car that hasn't been altered and or molested. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Wayne at (973)332-1074. Ford E-Series chassis cabs and cutaways to survive mass Transit onslaught
Fri, 18 Apr 2014In March 2013, Ford announced we'd be getting chassis cab and cutaway versions of the Transit. Since incoming Transit vans will soon be rolling over the grave of the E-Series van, it was assumed that all E-Series models would go six feet under as well. According to a report from PickupTrucks.com, however, that's not the case, the report claiming that the highly modifiable E-350 and E-450 chassis cab and cutaway versions will continue being produced in Avon Lake, Ohio "at least until 2020."
Being decades old, the be-cabbed E-Series platform has found its way under an army of heavy-duty shuttle buses, work truck and ambulances. Ford spokeswoman Jessica Enoch verified the production horizon, telling Autoblog that the particular E-Series configuration "are a higher GVWR than the Transit chassis cab and cutaway (available this summer), which is more Class 2 and a new segment for us." So there you have it.

Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang is a lean, mean, Z/28-fighting machine [w/video]
Mon, 17 Nov 2014If there's one thing you can count on, it's that the renewed rivalry between the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro will never, ever cease. For every version of Ford's pony car, there's an equally potent Chevrolet. And so with the debut of the Camaro Z/28 earlier this year, Ford has responded with a track-focused 'Stang of its own, resurrecting the Shelby GT350 name.
It looks to be a fine piece of work, this Mustang, with power coming from a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V8 that will produce "more than 500 horsepower" and "above 400" pound-feet of torque. That grunt runs to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission, and a Torsen limited-slip differential keeps everything in line.
But that's hardly the most impressive piece of the GT350 puzzle. Ford has increased the Mustang GT's chassis stiffness for duty here in the Shelby, and the coupe employs MagneRide damping which automatically adjusts based on road conditions and driver inputs. It's a first both for the Blue Oval and for the segment. And speaking of firsts, the GT350 uses a flat-plane crankshaft - something Ford has never included in a production V8 before.
