1965 Ford Fairlane 500 2door Hard Top on 2040-cars

Year:1965 Mileage:32879
Location:

Nixa, Missouri, United States

Nixa, Missouri, United States

I Have a 1965 Ford Fairlane 500 2 door Hard top . The car is a "C" code 289 with 3 speed manual transmission on the colume. The car is fairly solid over all and runs like a top.I drove the car around the block and its a nice old car.

The outside of the car is Black but is very dull and does need paint, the car was White from the factory. It looks good from 20ft and has a nice shine when wet so could be drove like it is of course. The car has a couple bubble spots of rust poping up but very solid for the most part. Both front floor pans have some rust. The driver side has had a piece of tin put down but you would want to cut it out and install a pan if you was restoring the car. The rear pans look good. The trunk pan has some pin holes and scaley rust on it when looking at the top side. Hard to see much of the bottom for the gas tank. The frame rails are nice and solid. Over all for a 1965 I think its in great shape. I do have a bunch of trim from the car. Some is good and some is bad so depends on the look you are going for if you need the trim.

The inside of the car shows some age. Needs seats and carpet redone along with headliner. Is blue and white inside.

The engine purrs like a kitten. Has had a Edelbrock 4 barrel intake and carb installed.Carries good oil pressure and does not over heat. The trans pulls and shifts good. The brakes are good and does not pull to one side or the other. I have been running off a gas can under the hood just because I didnt know what kind of shape the gas was in that is in the tank. Needs new ignition installed but does come with car. I jumped the selonoide and ran a hot wire to the coil. Installed new points and condensor. With just a little time and money spent ono the car you can be driving it as much as you want. I can get these things done for the purchaser at a extra cost if you do not want to do them yourself. Tires are like new.

The car came out of Georgia so it has a Bill of Sale of course as they do not title old cars. I will try to send that paper work in here in Mo. this week as I have everything already to get the title thru Mo. It takes about 7 to 10 days normally. So as the car stands right now has a Billof sale out of Georgia with it but if I get that sent in this week I will update the listing letting everyone know that I have done that.

2015 Ford Focus gets more Aston-y [w/video]

Tue, 04 Mar 2014

With more and more members of the Ford brand adopting a new familial face, the Focus has been left looking like an odd man out. At the Geneva Auto Show, though, it properly rejoined the family, adopting the now familiar Aston Martin-ish grille that's proliferated throughout the range.
Overall, we're liking the refreshed Focus' look. Aside from the new grille, the headlights have been restyled and now look like elongated versions of the lamps on the Focus ST. Functionally, those headlamps are bi-xenon units, complete with an adaptive front lighting system. Out back, the rear retains the same overall look, which has been smoothed out for 2015.
In the cabin, the second-generation of Ford's much-maligned Sync system makes its debut. Sync 2, as it's called, is supposedly more intuitive than the first-gen system. Ford is promising "one-shot" navigation functions for the system. Saying "I'm hungry," should bring up a list of nearby restaurants. Of course, we'll be reserving final judgment until we can test the new system in person.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: First production 2015 Ford Mustang earns $300k for JDRF [w/video]

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

We've almost become immune to the huge dollar amounts that collectible cars earn for charity at Barrett-Jackson. To wit, $300,000 for the first production 2015 Ford Mustang initially didn't seem like very much money. In reality, though, it's probably about 10 times the actual asking price for the car, and we're pleased to report that 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
According to Ford, the car's winning bidder will get to "choose a fastback with manual or automatic transmission, and any interior, exterior and stripe color combination offered by Ford on the all-new Mustang." Power will come from a slightly revised version of the well-known 5.0-liter V8 engine that will produce "more than 420hp and 396 pound-feet of torque."
We snapped live images of the 2015 Mustang prototype that Ford had on display here at Barrett-Jackson, and you can check them out above. The official auction description, along with a video of the auction as it happened live, is below.

1964 Ford GT40 prototype to be auctioned in April

Wed, 12 Mar 2014

The Ford GT40 owns a firm spot on the list of the greatest American racecars ever made, being the first car from the United States to take an overall win in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. And now Mecum will auction what it claims is second-oldest GT40 still in existence at its Houston sale on April 12.
The story of the GT40 is fascinating. Henry Ford II attempted to buy Ferrari in the early '60s, but Enzo refused. Ford decided if he couldn't have them, then he would beat the Prancing Horse on the track. Ford went to Carroll Shelby and asked him to spearhead the program. The early cars combined a steel monocoque chassis with Ford's 4.2-liter V8 engine pumping out around 350 horsepower. The first prototype made its public debuted on April 1, 1964, at the New York Auto Show.
Shelby kept building prototypes, including GT/104, which is for sale here. This version featured a lighter steel chassis and was raced at Le Mans in 1964. However, a fire forced it to retire. It was then repainted and had a 4.7-liter (289-cubic-inch) engine fitted. The chassis had its best finish at the 1965 Daytona Continental 2,000 Kilometers where it finished third with Bob Bondurant and Ritchie Ginther behind the wheel. Later that season, it was shipped back to Ford where it was restored and displayed at auto shows until 1971 when the automaker sold it. Since then, it has had many private owners.
