Up for bids is 1963 Ford Fairlane V8 260 with the three on the tree manual transmission. It has been in the family since it was purchased new in 1963, but I do not have the time, expertise or money to restore the car. It was always well taken care of, but it will need a new clutch, muffler and good tuneup. It still runs well regardless of needing a good tuneup. The paint is fading and chipped in some spots, however there is no body or frame rust. The engine is all original except for the generator was replaced with an alternator. The generator could probably be rebuilt and re-installed for more authenticity. The back interior is in great condition not requiring any major upgrades unless desired. The front seat needs to be reupholstered, but it has a cover on it to prevent more damage to the seat. The radio is unhooked because the original speaker was so old that it crumbled. The front interior needs minor repair in the paneling under the steering wheel. There is a set of snow tires, the spare tire and an old set of chains in the trunk. The weather stripping needs to be replaced around the doors and the windshield. Please email with any questions that may not be answered in the description. Ford acquires Livio to bolster connectivity biz
Thu, 26 Sep 2013Ford Motor Company has announced the acquisition of Livio, a Ferndale, MI-based software development company best known for aftermarket in-car connectivity devices, but also as a supplier of technology for proprietary systems for automakers. Livio, co-founded by Sigal and Massimo Baldini, will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Global Technologies.
"With the additional expertise Livio provides us, Ford intends to continue to lead the next generation of in-car connectivity with technology advancements that give consumers more options to access their devices on the go," said Paul Mascarenas, chief technical officer and vice president, Ford Research and Innovation, in a statement.
Ford is clearly trying to beef up its in-house tech capability around telematics and device connectivity. While the Blue Oval has been a leader in these areas with SYNC and MyFord Touch in terms of getting the systems into as many cars as possible, the execution of the applications have been criticized for glitches.
2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid recalled over lack of roof padding
Mon, 29 Jul 2013Ford is recalling 33,021 units of its 2013 C-Max Hybrid not equipped with optional panoramic roof panels. During testing, the model in question returned testing results for occupant head injuries that fell outside of criteria laid out in the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard. The issue puts occupants at greater risk of injury in the event of a crash if they are in an affected car.
The recall will begin August 19, at which time C-Max Hybrid owners can take their cars to dealers to have energy-absorbent material installed between the headliner and roof. The bulletin below from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has more information.
Ford recalling 850,000 cars and SUVs for airbag issues
Fri, 26 Sep 2014Ford has announced a major recall of 850,000 vehicles from model years 2013 and 2014 due to a problem with the "restraints control module."
According to Ford, a short circuit could develop in the module, causing the airbag warning light to illuminate. In more severe cases, dependent on where the short develops, the airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners may not work in the event of an accident. The problems can be more wide-ranging than that, too, as systems that rely on information from the control module, such as the stability control can be affected.
With 850,000 vehicles affected, it's no surprise that some of Ford's volume leaders are covered. That includes the Fusion and Lincoln MKZ sedans, as well as the incredibly recall-prone Escape and the C-Max MPV.
