1958 Ford Fairlane 500 Retractable Convertible

The 1958 Ford featured many new styling ideas.  A simulated air scoop hood and honey chrome grill were borrowed from the Thunderbird stylists.  A sculpted rear deck plus dual headlights created a much futuristic car than the previous model.  The cruse-o-matic 3 speed transmission was offered for first time in 1958 as was the 332 cu. in. V8 engine and Ford air suspension.  This car is a fantastic original believed 69,000 miles, factory air, and all matching numbers.  The engine was rebuilt as needed, transmission is excellent, and the interior is like new.  It enjoyed a recent restoration with new paint, chrome and interior.  The rare color combination of palomino tan and colonial white make this a show stopper.  The top works perfect and seals are good.  It has 10 power relays, 8 circuit breakers, 10 limit switches, and 600 feet of wire all to work the top.  Recent winner IFRC showcase award with badge.  Extremely clean and straight car that is sure to please any retractable collector for both show and cruising.

2016 Ford Mustang GT bringing back hood turn signals

Sat, May 9 2015

The 2016 Ford Mustang is being teased again, this time with a short video. And what you're looking at here is a nod back to Mustangs of the 1960s. Ford is bringing back a hood with turn signals in the vents. In 1967, Ford offered an optional hood on the Mustang with two heat extraction vents that faced the windscreen. Inside those vents were amber turn signals, so, you know, drivers could see their own blinkers blinking. A novelty feature, sure, but a nice historical cue that Ford is bringing back for its updated 2016 'Stang. We also know that Ford will offer a California Special pack on the 2016 Mustang GT. Beyond that, we don't expect too many more changes, seeing as how the Mustang was just completely redesigned for 2015. Stay tuned for the full details on Monday, May 11. Related Video:

Honda poised for growth, Detroit to hold steady, Car Wars study says

Fri, Jun 5 2015

The automotive industry is expected to keep booming in the US over the next several years, but the train might start running out of steam in the long term, according to 2015's Car Wars report from Bank of America Merrill Lynch analyst John Murphy. The forecast focuses on changes between the 2016 and 2019 model years, and the latest trends appear similar in some cases to the past predictions. Sales are expected to keep growing and reach a peak of 20 million in 2018, according to the Detroit Free Press. The expansion is projected to come from a quick pace of vehicle launches, with an average of 48 introductions a year – 26 percent more than in 1996. Crossovers are expected to make up a third of these, maintaining their strong popularity. However, Murphy predicts a decline, as well. By 2025, total sales could fall to around 15 million units. As of May 2015, the seasonally adjusted annual rate for this year stands at 17.71 million. Like last year, Honda is predicted to be a big winner in the future thanks to products like the next-gen Civic. "Honda should be the biggest market share gainer," Murphy said when presenting the report, according to Free Press. Meanwhile, in a situation similar to Car Wars from 2012, a lack of many new vehicles is expected to cause a drop for Hyundai, Kia, and Nissan. Based on this forecast, Ford, General Motors, and FCA US will all generally maintain market share for the coming years. The report does make some future product predictions, though. The next Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra might come in 2019, which is earlier than expected. Also, Lincoln could get a Mustang-based coupe for 2017, a compact sedan for 2018 and an Explorer-based model in 2019, according to the Free Press. Editors' Picks January 2022 | Ford Maverick, Jeep Grand Cherokee and more

Wed, Feb 9 2022

This month, we awarded Editors' Pick awards to a number of totally redesigned, new models. Most notable of the bunch is the 2022 Ford Maverick. Ford took a chance on a new segment, and its execution is as close to perfect as we could hope for. The Hyundai Santa Cruz is a worthy competitor, though, and was also named an Editors' Pick. Also in this list, we have the redesigned Jeep Grand Cherokee. It's an excellent SUV, and it's only going to get better when the plug-in hybrid 4xe model hits the roads. In case you missed our previous Editors' Picks posts, here’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary in their respective segments get EditorsÂ’ Pick status. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in January that earned an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Quick take: Jeep's midsize SUV hits it out of the park with the latest generation. We could stand to see some powertrain innovation, but the Grand Cherokee's premium proposition is sound. Score: 8.0 What it competes with: Honda Passport, Hyundai Santa Fe, Ford Edge, Chevrolet Blazer, Nissan Murano Pros: Highly capable, luxurious interior, choices aplenty Cons: Pricey, fuel economy From the editors Associate Editor, Byron Hurd — "Jeep did almost everything right with the redesigned Grand Cherokee. Its powertrain offerings are fairly unremarkable, but the new two-row 4xe will go a long way toward addressing that. It's an otherwise fantastic, modern, luxurious Jeep SUV." In-depth analysis: 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee First Drive Review | 1 fewer row, 1 more touchscreen   2022 Ford Maverick Quick take: The Ford Maverick offers tremendous value, efficiency, incredibly well-thought-out packaging, plenty of storage, a fairly engaging drive and ease of use, all with the utility of a pickup bed. We like the hybrid, but the EcoBoost engine and FX4 package offer more capability. Score: 8 What it competes with: Hyundai Santa Cruz Pros: Very affordable, Hybrid fuel economy, compact size Cons: Tight backseat, FWD only Hybrid, no cruise control in base trim From the editors: Green, Senior Editor John Beltz Snyder — "The Maverick is simply a dynamite package. It's smart, useful, drivable, efficient, providing affordable utility in the underserved compact pickup segment.
