1956 Ford Fairlane

Stroked 427 Tunnel Port to 482 cid, Four Speed

Up for auction is my 1956 Ford 2 door club sedan. It has a 427 side oiler service block that has been bored and stroked to a 482 cid monster with original Tunnel Port heads.  It has roller rockers, high volume oil pump and the best of everything  Everything is new, engine built professionally and has less than 200 miles.  The car looks awesome and is straight as can be with no bondo.   The engine is backed up by a Ford T-10 4-speed that has also been rebuilt with new clutch.  The car has custom headers and newer 3" exhaust with a x-pipe.  Has a new HP950 4 barrel carb and new aluminum radiator.  There is way too much to list so please ask questions before bidding.  Is fun to drive however I don't drive as much as I should.  This is probably the nicest 56 Ford you will find and it has an old school 427 Tunnel Port!!

The body & paint are in very good condition!  The car has the same paint on it from when I purchased it years ago.  The car is very solid. The body panels are super straight and everything lines right up.  There has been no repairs to body panels or the floor panels due to rust since the car is RUST FREE!  The chrome is NOT perfect, I would say good condition.  The tires have about 300 miles on them.

The bumpers are good quality. The other trim is in good condition.

The interior is the blue/white. Very nice headliner and trim. Extra gauges added including Tach.

Engine runs great, no problems or funny noises. The distributor has an MSD electronic control. The carb is a HP950 which is a very nice carb.  The four speed works great.

The engine runs very strong and fast.  No fluid leaks, no smoking, no overheating. The cooling system has a flex fan with an electrical auxiliary fan mounted on the radiator.

Steering is straight and solid.

The brakes are Disc up front and Drum in the back.

All fluids have been changed and are fresh.

In closing I believe you will not find another classic 56 Ford in this type of condition especially finding one with a Tunnel Port motor?  Never!  Please ask any questions before you bid, and I will not be willing to sell engine and car separate so please don't ask.

This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied.  The car is available for inspection by you or your mechanic at your expense at any time however it is not insured at this time.  Serious bidders only!  I will require a non-refundable $5000 deposit within 72 hours of close of this add.  Remaining funds MUST be paid by cash or bank wire transfer.  I will however accept a cashiers check if I am with you at the bank when you receive it. The remaining funds will need to be paid in full within 7 days of close of auction.

Shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer. I am not a dealer. Any taxes or registration fees are the responsibility of the buyer pursuant to their home state requirements.  I have a clear title in my name. The vehicle is for sale locally so I have the right to end this auction at any time.  If there is a qualifying bid then the ebay add will remain and the high bidder will own.

Recharge Wrap-up: Ford 1.0L EcoBoost a hit in Europe; Build a tiny inverter, win $1 million

Mon, Aug 11 2014

In Europe, Ford's 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine is the best-selling turbocharged gasoline engine. The three-cylinder motor powers 20 percent of new Fords sold in Europe. Earlier this year, it won its third International Engine of the Year award, and between January and June, it was sold in about 120,000 cars. So far this year, 38 percent of Fords sold in the Netherlands, 35 percent in Denmark and 32 percent in Switzerland have been powered by the 1.0-liter EcoBoost. The engine's turbocharger spins at 248,000 rpm, and provides 24 psi of pressure. The engine produces up to 138 horsepower, depending on the version. Read more in the press release below. When lithium-ion battery packs are retired from the road, remanufacturing, repurposing, and recycling are worthwhile options, according to a study by Mineta Transportation Institute. The study included a cost-benefit analysis of those three options, and found remanufacturing to be the best route. To get the most out of them, batteries should be tested and have their damaged cells replaced then put back to use. Repurposing is the second best option, using the remaining available charge for something besides cars. Recycling on its own isn't profitable, but it could make economic sense with "increased technological breakthroughs." Learn more at Recycling International or download the report here. A smaller inverter for EVs can win you $1 million. The Little Box Challenge is an open competition to build a power inverter with a density of at least 50 watts per cubic inch. Google and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) are offering the hefty prize to the team that builds the inverter with the highest power density within an enclosed volume of 40 cubic inches. Teams must register by September 30. Read more at Green Car Congress or learn more at the Little Box Challenge website.

The 11 most expensive American cars ever

Tue, 12 Aug 2014

Here's a Pro Tip for all you would-be classic car investors out there: buy Ferraris. With the Pebble Beach festivities kicking off this week, including any number high end car auctions, we thought it would be entertaining to compile a list of some to the most expensive cars ever sold with the bang of a gavel. Trouble is, once you get past the splendor of everyone's favorite Italian sports car maker, that list is pretty boring.
Ferrari dominates the all-time auction sales list; seven of the top ten most expensive cars sold wear the Cavallino Rampante badge, as well as more than half of the top fifty. Sure, a nearly $30-million Mercedes-Benz W196 racecar might be the new top dog as of last year, but it's even possible that Ferrari could take that title back in Monterey this weekend. Long story short: we think a list of the most expensive American cars ever sold at auction is a lot more entertaining to read. Hell, our list has a friggin' Batmobile on it, how can it go wrong?
Follow on below for the top ten cars that are red, white, blue and a whole lot of green.

Has the 2015 Ford Mustang gained hundreds of pounds?

Sun, 01 Jun 2014

Automakers face competing interests when it comes to developing a new generation of vehicle. On the one hand, companies want to build their cars to be safer and better handling, with more equipment and maybe even larger dimensions over the model it's replacing. On the other hand, they strive to keep weight down to the benefit of both performance and fuel consumption. Usually something has to give, and in the case of the new 2015 Ford Mustang, those efforts may have resulted in a weight penalty of two or three hundred pounds.
This according to Blue Oval modifier Steeda Autosports, which states that "the 2015 Mustang ended up gaining 200-300 pounds in this remake". Despite the Mustang not being on the market yet, it would appear the leading Ford aftermarketer has been given early access to the 2015 model to help jumpstart its tuning efforts (a rather common development among trusted tuners). If Steeda's assertion is accurate, that would make the challenge of getting the new pony car up to speed for both Ford and aftermarket customizers like Steeda that much greater.
We're waiting for official word from Ford on the veracity of Steeda's claim, but if true, it's bound to be a bit of disappointing news for legions of Blue Oval performance enthusiasts. Watch this space for more.
