1997 Ford F-350, 4x4, Crew Cab, 7.3 Power Stroke Diesel, Auto Transmission.  Great solid truck.  Truck is a beast!

In 2008 I inherited a minivan.  In 2010 it was obvious when we had a kid that we needed a 4x4 for our gravel, long, hilly, north facing, last driveway to melt in the county.  Before kid we could always walk out of the snow.  I was looking for a smaller half ton truck but someone wanted a minivan and he had this truck.  The rest is history.

Now we have two kids and face the reality the truck is too big for my wife and more then we need.

Truck has not been stopped in the snow.

Truck is almost entirely unmolested and stock.  It has Superwinch manual hubs.

Very good mechanically with following exceptions: AC is not cold (new problem have not researched problem possible freon), power windows are inconsistent, cruise control will cut off, driver's seat is torn.  The truck had a front right quarter panel repaired due to accident.  Back corner of bed has dent.

Truck was well maintained before I purchased.  The auto tranny was rebuilt and installed by Ford dealer in Woodstock, VA.  Paperwork regarding specs for the tranny rebuild is incomplete.  Just before I purchased it also received a new fuel filter and air filter.

Mechanical since I bought the truck:

Regular oil changes (Shell Rotella 15W-40) not listed in this list

June 2010 179,617
flush rad
pulled turbo apart and reseal
repack front wheel bearings
new front pads, rotors, hardware, front hub seals, caliper slides, and repacked bearings

July 2010 179,966
New brake line along rail and brake fluid flush

July 2010
front end alignment

July 2011 183,567
Four new Dunlop tires stock size and alignment

August 2012  187,976
new fuel filter
flush radiator

November 2012 188,538
new intermediate steering shaft

November 2012 188,662
two new batteries

July 2013 190,484
fuel filter
IPR valve

December 2013 192,584
Crank position sensor

March 2014 193,546
fuel filter restriction switch
neutral safety switch

It will need an oil change soon and the AC needs attention (please see note above)

This truck and generation of truck will go down as one of the top five or top three trucks ever produced by Ford.  This generation Ford truck is up there with the 1956 Ford pickup and the 1970s Ford Highboys for legendary Ford trucks.

The 1997 is the last year with this body style, has the legendary 7.3 Power Stroke Diesel, and is a crew cab.  The F-250 and F-350 kept the existing body style for 1997.  The F-150 had a major body style change in 1997.  The F-250 and F-350 changed in 1998.

Disclaimers - You are welcome and encouraged to see the truck in person.  Cash or bank check only.  No personal checks or pay pal.  Truck is for sale locally and ebay auction might end.  $500.00 deposit is required within three days.  Truck has to be paid in full within seven days of sale.  Short term storage is offered if truck is paid for in full.

Please email me with any questions.

We are going to miss this truck!  Our two boys (age two and five) love it.  Our oldest calls it Freight Train Buggy after the bluegrass song Freight Train Boogy.  He loves trains and since it has a diesel engine like trains he loves it!

It is obvious it is more truck then we need a half ton will do for us.  I have owned numerous trucks and vans and this is without a doubt the strongest!

Thanks for looking at the auction!

Ford exec reveals new F-150 Raptor packs 450 horsepower

Mon, Jan 26 2015

Between the new GT supercar, Shelby GT350R muscle car and F-150 Raptor off-roader, Ford had quite the array of performance machinery on display at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this month. One thing it didn't reveal about any of the three, however, is how much power they'd pack, but a senior executive at the Blue Oval automaker has reportedly let the cat out of the bag when it comes to the Raptor. During a televised interview during the Rolex 24 at Daytona this past weekend, Ford's product development chief Raj Nair is said to have revealed that the new F-150 Raptor will offer 450 horsepower. That's pretty impressive from a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6, and would put the new Raptor out ahead of the 411 hp produced by the 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 in the previous SVT Raptor. That doesn't give us the whole picture, though, because in a vehicle this big especially, torque will play a huge factor. The outgoing Raptor offered 424 pound-feet of twist, and the existing 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine is already producing 420 lb-ft – so it seems fairly safe to assume the new Raptor will eclipse those figures as well, but we'll have to wait for official word to find out for sure. New car market raining on convertibles' parade

Mon, 08 Jul 2013

Whether fitted with soft or hard folding lids, today's droptops are better than ever for year-round motoring. Advancements in power top mechanisms, sealing, aerodynamics, structural rigidity, rollover safety and creature comforts like heated and cooled seats mean that modern convertibles are more versatile and better to drive than ever before. Yet the segment's sales took a dive during the recession and haven't come back, Automotive News reports.
Part of that is because automakers are looking at today's more sensible buyers and simply not developing as many new models, and that lack of fresh iron is curbing sales. AN cites R.L. Polk data which notes that only about one percent of new vehicles registered in the US last year had tops that folded. Back in 2009, it was 1.4 percent, and it was 2 percent in 2006. All-in, some 151,636 convertibles were registered in 2012. That's more units more than were registered in each of the past three years, but the market has also grown as the economy has picked up speed, and as a percentage of new vehicles purchased, convertible sales are lagging.
Thus far in 2013, the Ford Mustang is America's top-selling convertible, with 6,421 units registered through the end of April, followed by its rival, the Chevrolet Camaro, at 4,751 units. The Volkswagen Beetle isn't far behind, with 4,305, but from that point, it's a steep drop off to the fourth-place Mercedes-Benz SL-Class and its 2,380 sales.

Report: GM struggling to market turbo technology

Tue, 20 Apr 2010

In the automotive realm, marketing can sometimes prove just as important as the actual product. Take, for instance, Ford's well regarded EcoBoost technology, which couples turbocharging with direct injection to produce more horsepower and reduce fuel consumption. Would it surprise you to hear that General Motors has had similar technology on the market for over three years?
It's true. GM's first turbocharged, direct injected powerplants hit the market for the 2007 model. The 2.0-liter Ecotec mills put down an impressive 260 horsepower and a matching 260 pound-feet of torque, and they were lauded by the press in the engine bays of the Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Sky, Chevrolet Cobalt SS and Chevrolet HHR SS. But few people outside a core group of enthusiasts actually remember this fact.
Says Uwe Grebe, executive director of GM's global advanced engineering, "We didn't have a badge and say, 'This is the most important thing we will put on all our brochures.'" Ford, however, did just that, and it's EcoBoost engines are right at the tips of all our tongues when we discuss today's most advanced powerplants. So, how does The General fix its mistake?
