Want to buy a brand-new 1964 Ford Mustang? [w/video]
Wed, Mar 18 2015Even in its current iteration, the Ford Mustang is not without its share of heritage design cues. But if it's a more classic look of the first-gen pony car you're after, combined with modern levels of equipment, Revology just might have the answer. The Orlando-based company makes what you might call "continuation" Mustangs, using replica steel bodies made by Dynacorn and licensed by Ford to give it that classic look, but with modern technology. Under the skin you'll find a 5.0-liter fuel-injected V8 with 265 horsepower and either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission, but the powertrain is just the start. It's also got a MacPherson strut suspension, disc brakes, power steering and a cabin equipped with such modern accoutrements as power door locks and seats, keyless entry, intermittent wipers, even Bluetooth connectivity. And it's all covered by a one-year, unlimited-milage warranty, plus five-year corrosion protection and three-year powertrain warranty. Of course none of that comes cheap, as a turnkey Revology Mustang will set you back at least $119,500, in the buyer's choice of fastback or convertible body-styles. The first example was unveiled at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance this past weekend, with the first customer examples set for delivery next year. This content is hosted by a third party. How and why Ford is rolling out Vignale in Europe
Wed, 09 Oct 2013
We know that Ford is positioning the new, upscale Vignale brand in Europe to fill a niche market of customers who want a bit more luxury, a lot more service and the same reliability and dependability that a non-Vignale Ford offers. But so far, we've been in the dark regarding how the Blue Oval will sell Vignale vehicles, how many of them will be created, and what the new sub-brand has in store for the future.
Gaetano Thorel, Ford's European marketing head, recently was interviewed by Automotive News and shared details about Ford Vignale. Thorel says, "The Vignale trim line will be priced like an ST model but attract a completely different type of customer." Specifically, he says it will attract customers in the upper 15 percent of the price band who don't want a performance-oriented ST model. He adds that Vignale cars will be about 10 percent more expensive than Titanium-trim cars. About 500 of Ford's European dealers will sell Vignale Fords, Thorel says, "in areas that make sense." The automaker expects 10 percent of its European sales to be Vignale cars, which equates to about 5 percent of its global sales. When asked if there are any other Vignale models planned beyond the Mondeo, Thorel said, "There is nothing written in stone yet."
Ford finally issues recall for 230K minivans over rust problems
Sun, 10 Mar 2013The rust issue in the rear wheel wells of 2004-2007 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans has finally led to a recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began an investigation into the matter in 2011, said investigation being upgraded to an engineering analysis a year later while NHTSA tried to figure out how many model years should be included in the assessment.
Ford has decided to recall all of the 230,000 minivans potentially affected, namely those sold in salt-belt states and countries like Canada. The excess rust in the rear wheel wells was also able to prevent the third-row seats from locking to the floor of the minivan. To repair the problem, owners can take their minivans to dealers, and the dealers will place new panels in the wheel wells, replace the third-row seat mounting brackets and relocate the latches to an area away from any corrosion.
Ford says it will begin notifying owners during the last week of March.
