The condition of the exterior, interior and engine can vary depending on the vehicle's history. See the seller's listing for full details and description of any imperfections.Seller Notes:"Truck in good condition, does have the usual scratches and dents a 9 year old vehicle would expect. One paint chip in right rear of truck above the taillight. Chrome is aging on wheels, and could use a reconditioning."

Good dependable truck, just recently serviced.  Has all the options for 2004 and is the desirable FX4 trim level, giving you skid plates, logos, 4x4, and offroad package.  In addition the truck has a tow package, coming with a hitch and all wiring required.  The Line-X bed liner was a great addition to the truck and keeps the bed looking great.  Bilstein 5100 shocks were added 10k miles ago, and ride great.   Nice improvement over the stock Ranchos.

The rims do show wear, and could probably use a powder coating or rechrome.  No dings or scratches, but the finish is beginning to deteriorate.  Looks good when you walk up, but is noticeable upon close inspection.

One noticeable paint chip in back of truck, other than that the paint is in good condition but does have the usual wear one would assume after 9 years.

Truck is used for a short commute so mileage will be slightly greater at time of sale.

Truck is also listed locally and may sell before this auction ends.

Galpin Ford GTR1 supercar debuts in Monterey

Fri, 16 Aug 2013

Galpin Auto Sports has finally taken the wraps off the car we first previewed back in December, the Galpin Ford GTR1. A few weeks ago, we posted the first hints of just what the GTR1 would be capable of, with Galpin teasing that its 5.4-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 would produce in excess of 1000 horsepower, with a top speed of 225 miles per hour. Package all that in a coachbuilt body, and you have the recipe for one wicked supercar.
The price for the carbon fiber-bodied car is $1,024,000.
Now, we have all the glorious details. Galpin is targeting a production run of six cars, but if interest is strong enough, will expand its initial quote to 24 vehicles. The price for the carbon fiber-bodied car is $1,024,000. Opting for the aluminum bodywork could lower that, although it's not immediately clear by how much.

Ford to build Explorer in Russia to meet demand [w/video]

Fri, 12 Apr 2013

The current Ford Explorer is sold in more than 64 countries, and this three-row vehicle continues to grow in popularity worldwide. To keep up with demand, Ford began producing the Explorer at Ford Sollers Elabuga Assembly Plant in Tatarstan, Russia, a joint venture facility. This partnership will build Russian-market Explorers only, and production of export vehicles not destined for Russian buyers will continue to be built at Ford's assembly plant in Chicago.
Before this plant went online, Ford would ship Explorers to Russia (and other regions around the world) as partially assembled knock-down units where final assembly would eventually take place. While there is no indication as to how many Explorers Ford Sollers will build for Russia, Ford did add that exports of the SUV were up 65 percent last year (from 2011) accounting for more than 24,000 units.
Scroll down for a press release about the Russian Explorer as well as a video (bad music and all) showing the SUV being produced in Tatarstan.

White House clears way for NHTSA to mandate vehicle black boxes

Fri, 07 Dec 2012

At present, over 90 percent of all new vehicles sold in the United States today are equipped with event data recorders, more commonly known as black boxes. If the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gets its way, that already high figure will swell to a full 100 percent in short order.
Such automotive black boxes have been in existence since the 1990s, and all current Ford, General Motors, Mazda and Toyota vehicles are so equipped. NHTSA has been attempting to make these data recorders mandatory for automakers, and according to The Detroit News, the White House Office of Management Budget has just finished reviewing the proposal, clearing the way. Now NHTSA is expected to draft new legislation to make the boxes a requirement.
One problem with current black boxes is that there's no set of standards for automakers to follow when creating what bits of data are recorded, and for how long or in what format it is stored. In other words, one automaker's box is probably not compatible with its competitors.
