Truck has plent of blemishes from years of use. Rear fuel tank is usable, but not connected. Emergency brake lines have rotted away. Horn does not work. AC is dead. Heater works, but does not direct to defrosters. Needs fresh tires. Roof is mostly painted in primer. Leaks oil like it's cool. Rusty undercarriage."

Selling my Trusty Rusty!  This has been my 3rd vehicle for the last 2 years.  I am updating with a newer truck.  I bought Ugly Betty in July of 2011.  I've used it as a weekend work & hunting truck.  I've put about 4,000 miles on it since getting it.  I commute about 30 miles(each way) with it once or twice a month when I need to haul something.  It has served me pretty well, but do to its age and condition upkeep is necessary.  Runs good, starts every time...sometimes slow to catch in the winter.

Biggest defects are as follows:
  • rear fuel tank is not connected and cannot be used as is
  • emergency brake lines have rusted away
  • leaks oil
  • dead AC
  • rusty undercarriage
  • primer paint on roof
  • someone keyed "HA!" on the driver's door

I've replaced the following in the last two years.
  • brake pads (summer 2011)
  • rear brake kits including new wheel cylinders (old drums reused) (summer 2011)
  • windshield (summer 2011)
  • installed new proper sized battery (summer 2011)
  • installed used rear fuel tank (summer 2011) IS NOT CONNECTED
  • replaced fuel sending relay (summer 2012)
  • replaced negative battery cable (summer 2012)
  • replaced front springs and shocks (summer 2012)
  • replaced rear shocks
  • Inner/outer front end wheel bearing (last month)
I have a brand new starter (NAPA brand) for this truck that I haven't installed.  Turned out to be the rusted negative battery cable that was causing the starting problem in 2012.  That starter is included in this sale.

Take a look at the ton of pictures to get a feel for the condition.  Sold AS IS, WHERE IS with NO WARRANTY from Geneva, IL.

Feel free to contact me with questions.  This is my first time selling a vehicle on EBAY, I expect a $200 dollar paypal deposit within 48 hours of auction completion, and the balance to be pain in-person (cash or cashier's check) or via paypal at pickup.

Ford EcoBoost successful because of Soviet laser weapons system expert?

Sun, 28 Jul 2013

Mike Kluzner is a man of many talents. Not only is he the software engineer responsible for fuel system diagnostics for Ford globally, he "got his start designing laser weapon systems capable of disabling the navigation systems of enemy satellites" for the former Soviet Union. Quite a résumé, wouldn't you say?
You may be asking yourself the same question that popped into our minds upon reading about Mr. Kluzner: What do laser weapon systems have to do with Ford and its EcoBoost engines? We'll let the man answer himself. "The same process for analyzing key physical relationships works for what we do today in engine combustion, catalyst chemistry and mechanics," says Kluzner. "These are all part of Ford's software engineering expertise." Who are we to argue?
Ford also employs an engineer who previously designed software to detect damage to the heat tiles on the International Space Station, as well as one who's past work involved particle physics, says the automaker in the press release below. David Bell (pictured above right), global boost system controls engineer for Ford, describes the software running EcoBoost as "the secret sauce" that makes the technology work as the driver intends and demands.

Leno chooses his top 10 Mustangs

Sat, 14 Jun 2014

He may be a few months late to the party, but in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Ford Mustang, Jay Leno has delivered a short video in which he runs down which of the Blue Oval's pony cars from the past 50 years are his favorites.
The list is pretty darn similar to our own, with some of the big names from the Mustang's half century making an appearance, while there are three or four cars here that we think you'll be pretty surprised by.
Take a look below for this short video from Jay Leno's Garage.

Ford gets its Movement on, releases 'Sounds of Focus' tracks

Sun, 25 May 2014

Ford has, for at least the second year in a row, teamed up with techno promoter Paxahau and a couple of artists to make music in recognition of the Detroit Movement music festival. This time, Movement performers Ataxia and Secrets were selected by Ford, and were invited to spend some time at the automaker's Michigan Assembly Plant, which gives birth to the Ford Focus and Focus Electric models.
Now that we know the what, how about the why? According to Ford, "Detroit is uniquely tied to the origins of the electronic music scene. In the 1980's variations of electronic music stemmed from inspirations of industry, including the automotive sector." So, there you go. If you're interest is piqued, feel free to read the press release, watch the video and listen to the tracks below.
