hey ford lovers, here is a 1977 f-150 with a 300 straight 6 cyl. engine.manual 3 speed trans. loaded up with all my ford parts. although i love them and have always had a small fleet of them, i no longer have the ambition to build and repair these trucks. the main truck is a half ton 2 wheel drive, dont really know how many miles since it arrived here with a blown 8 cyl. i put the 6 cyl. 3 speed in it. nothing fancy at all, but i have drove it enough to beleive you could drive it where ever you wanted as long as your not in a hurry. the truck load of parts include just about everything, 3 engines, a very tired 390 with a good c-6 auto trans attached, 2 straight 6 cylinders, 1 with a manual 3 speed the other with a manual 4 speed w/granny low. these engines i am sell as parts, because they have been sitting out w/ plastic over them, but i am sure water has gotten in them, but i did save them to use. so with a little time and tlc you could make them work for you. 3 extra transmissions 1 c-6 auto, 1- 3 speed manual, 1- 4 speed manual, no sheet metal, but a complete front off a 1973 f-350 hubs, brakes, springs, everything still together. various driveshafts, steering colums, alt., power steering units, breathers, steering boxes, back sliding glass, complete exhuast systems, front bumper, assort. linkages (3 speed through the floor) doors, chrome and various parts off of a 1962 f 1-50, and other incidentials, anything i thought i might need to save when tearing one down. like i said none of this stuff is fancy, most people would call it junk, unless you needed it, then its treasure. i will still be finding and adding small stuff until sale time. i hope to sell it all as one package, but if you see somthing you really want let me know. it is for sale locally also, dont like to end auction early, but will do what is fair to top bidder at time of sale. thanks for looking, please call with questions or concerns before bidding (2178493409) winning bidder to instsntly paypal a nonrefundable $500 deposit.

Aluminum lightweighting does, in fact, save fuel
Mon, Apr 14 2014When the best-selling US truck sheds the equivalent weight of three football fullbacks by shifting to aluminum, folks start paying attention. Oak Ridge National Laboratory took a closer look at whether the reduced fuel consumption from a lighter aluminum body makes up for the fact that producing aluminum is far more energy intensive than steel. And the results of the study are pretty encouraging. In a nutshell, the energy needed to produce a vehicle's raw materials accounts for about 10 percent of a typical vehicle's carbon footprint during its total lifecycle, and that number is up from six percent because of advancements in fuel economy (fuel use is down to about 68 percent of total emissions from about 75 percent). Still, even with that higher material-extraction share, the fuel-efficiency gains from aluminum compared to steel will offset the additional vehicle-extraction energy in just 12,000 miles of driving, according to the study. That means that, from an environmental standpoint, aluminum vehicles are playing with the house's money after just one year on the road. Aluminum-sheet construction got topical real quickly earlier this year when Ford said the 2015 F-150 pickup truck would go to a 93-percent aluminum body construction. In addition to aluminum being less corrosive than steel, that change caused the F-150 to shed 700 pounds from its curb weight. And it looks like the Explorer and Expedition SUVs may go on an aluminum diet next. Take a look at SAE International's synopsis of the Oak Ridge Lab's study below. Life Cycle Energy and Environmental Assessment of Aluminum-Intensive Vehicle Design Advanced lightweight materials are increasingly being incorporated into new vehicle designs by automakers to enhance performance and assist in complying with increasing requirements of corporate average fuel economy standards. To assess the primary energy and carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) implications of vehicle designs utilizing these materials, this study examines the potential life cycle impacts of two lightweight material alternative vehicle designs, i.e., steel and aluminum of a typical passenger vehicle operated today in North America. LCA for three common alternative lightweight vehicle designs are evaluated: current production ("Baseline"), an advanced high strength steel and aluminum design ("LWSV"), and an aluminum-intensive design (AIV).
Ford Mustang EcoBoost has fake engine soundtrack
Wed, 24 Sep 2014The 2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost represents a huge change for the Blue Oval as the first pony car in decades to be available with a four-cylinder engine. But a recent tweet (below) from Road & Track raised our curiosity about the new vehicle. Editor Jason Cammisa pulled a fuse while driving the latest 'Stang with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, and he found that both the stereo and engine went quiet in the cabin. That indicated the coupe might have some form of artificial engine sound being piped in - a feature not previously heavily reported for the model. Autoblog spoke with Ford engineer Shawn Carney who confirmed that only the turbocharged four-cylinder Mustang comes with this system, called Active Noise Control.

180,000 new vehicles are sitting, derailed by lack of transport trains
Wed, 21 May 2014If you're planning on buying a new car in the next month or so, you might want to pick from what's on the lot, because there could be a long wait for new vehicles from the factory. Locomotives continue to be in short supply in North America, and that's causing major delays for automakers trying to move assembled cars.
According to The Detroit News, there are about 180,000 new vehicles waiting to be transported by rail in North America at the moment. In a normal year, it would be about 69,000. The complications have been industry-wide. Toyota, General Motors, Honda and Ford all reported experiencing some delays, and Chrysler recently had hundreds of minivans sitting on the Detroit waterfront waiting to be shipped out.
The problem is twofold for automakers. First, the fracking boom in the Bakken oil field in the Plains and Canada is monopolizing many locomotives. Second, the long, harsh winter is still causing major delays in freight train travel. The bad weather forced trains to slow down and carry less weight, which caused a backup of goods to transport. The auto companies resorted to moving some vehicles by truck, which was a less efficient but necessary option.
