1956 Ford F100

OK, too many projects, not enough time, space, and money.

So.....up for auction is my '56 F100. Its a labor of love, time, and money. 1st off, I've owned the truck for many years, worked on it, fixed it, built it, changed it, and drove it. It's one of the cleanest bodies I've ever seen on a '56. The paint is absolutely shot, I mean PATINA galore. But the metal is very good. California truck, almost no rust. Raingutters clear, cab corners (4) clear, floors clear, fenders clear. The doors click shut with one finger! The doors, and the fenders, and hood line up very nice. Probably all original sheet metal. Judging by the fit and the finish.

Running gear: It has a very healthy, yet very streetable 350. Edelbrock 4bbl, full length tube headers, camelback (fuelie) 202  heads. Cam, intake, etc. 12 Volt alternator, GM HEI ignition. Very low miles on engine. Dual 2 1/2" pipes with 50 series Flowmasters. Electric choke. Click starts every time! Very dependable, yet healthy, and sounds good. Electric cooling fan. Manually operated, via a switch on the dash.

Built 350 automatic. Stock stall, nice shift kit, and cooler. Just solid, no hard shifts. Built to last. Same, very low miles as engine, and exhaust.

The transmission is hooked up to a balanced driveline, running to a GM factory disc brake rear-end. Running (I'm pretty sure) 3.42 posi. Don't quote me on that, but quite sure. It's set up as a 5bar. 4 bar with coilovers, and a panhard bar. The coilovers are adjustable, as well as the 4 bar setup.

Front suspension: Taken from a mid 70's Z/28 Camaro. Bigger disc brakes, quick ratio power steering, bigger sway bar, and stiffer coil springs. Its got the Hydro boost GM factory brake booster. Not a vacuum booster. This setup works better on engines with lopey cams. Also running a semi rare Tilt/telescopic column from a Cadillac. Very comfortable.

4 wheel, power disc brakes!

Old School Cragar mag wheels. Very good condition for being the original wheels, not repops. 10" and 8" x 15".

Good radial tires. It's got the big and little, down in front attitude look to it!! Get the attention, when I take it out for a spin!

All new wiring, modern fuse panel, several circuits, all clean and tidy.

Interior: Very sparce, all business, New Classic Instrument gauge set. Caddy Tilt/tele column, factory bench seat just recovered in black tuck n roll. Solid floors, new front windshield, and rubber weather stripping. Door glass is cracked, but cheap and easy to replace. I like the cracks, goes with the Rat Rod look.

So, all in all one very well built truck. Built to last, and built to be driven dependably. It is solid.

Needs: my opinion, yours may be different. carpeting, insulation, bed floor, door weatherstripping, door glass, paint, headliner, etc. etc.

Starts, runs, drives, shifts, and stops very well. The bedwood is missing. Again, kits are available, and fairly cheap. I was just going to run plywood, stain it and put the metal strips over the top. But, never got to it, so you can do it the way you want.

Check my other auction. I'm also selling my '67 El Camino, Chip Foose theme (black/red) 327, 4spd. bad!!

If  you have any questions, just send me a message through e-bay, and I'll get back to you asap. Ask before you bid, no surprises. And please, don't bid if  you don't have the money, haven't told your wife, no way to ship it. etc. etc. Let's not waste each others time with that stuff.  Truck is located in Chico, CA 95973. I can, and will assist with loading it on to a transporter of your choosing, and cost.

Ken Block proves the new Ford Focus RS can handle that Gymkhana thing

Wed, Feb 4 2015

Oh Ford, you've already done a lot for us today, introducing the bound-for-America Focus RS and all. But then you go ahead and add onto this day of good news by handing a prototype of the new all-wheel-drive rocket to drift maestro Ken Block and capture it all on video. Block does his usual, slipping and sliding and drifting the over-315-horsepower hot hatchback through Ford's Cologne, Germany factory, before making a final and surprising appearance at the unveiling of the new RS to European media. It's all as entertaining as it sounds, and gives us plenty of chances to hear the 2.3-liter EcoBoost at full bellow. Related Video:

Major Alexa deal will bring Amazon services into more cars

Wed, Jan 9 2019

Amazon and its personal assistance service Alexa are partnering with HERE Technologies to create a new connected mobility service powerhouse. Alexa will integrate with HERE's navigation and location services to offer what the two companies are calling a "true voice-first-navigation experience." Alexa will come pre-integrated with HERE navigation on-demand, which the automakers can then enable, which should help cut down on development time. One of the biggest features from this partnership is how directions could be offered and delivered using HERE's Open Location Platform (OLP). Currently, the OLP uses data from several car manufacturers to provide insights into real-time location and traffic. But on Alexa, this could be used to provide directional context. For example, Alexa could say, "Turn right after [such-and-such a building]" rather than just, "Turn right." Amazon has been testing the automotive waters throughout the past decade. Its home-based Alexa-enabled devices are already offered with connections to several manufacturers. To various degrees of integration, it can already pair with Ford, Genesis, Toyota, Lexus, Hyundai and BMW vehicles. At the end of 2018, Amazon took things a step further when it introduced the Echo Auto, a Bluetooth-connected Alexa assistant device that can be physically kept in a car. Currently only available by invitation (its production and distribution have been delayed), the $25 device is essentially a voice service that works together with smartphones and connects to a car's speakers. Users can command it to do a variety of things, including playing music, setting navigation, opening the garage door, finding local stores, making calls, setting reminders, and thousands of other "skills." According to The Verge, nearly 1 million people have already ordered the device. Some (well, probably few) may know HERE Technologies from its maps on Windows Phones. We all know how that turned out, though. Today, HERE has expanded into a multi-function suite that is available in multiple mediums, including many automotive applications. HERE Automotive's connected vehicle services include real-time traffic, parking, weather, fuel prices, hazard warnings, traffic sign integration, and even EV charging stations. These all incorporate and extend the use of HERE's location and tracking programming. HERE is already partnered with BMW, Audi, Daimler, Intel, Mobileye, NVIDIA, and has investments from Bosch, Continental and Pioneer.

Ford sells 7-millionth Explorer in America

Mon, 17 Nov 2014

Say what you will about the evolution of the Ford Explorer, from roofed Ranger to body-on-frame sport utility vehicle to unibody crossover - the bottom line is that it's been a tremendously successful model for Ford. In fact, the Blue Oval automaker has sold seven million Explorer models in the United States alone.
The milestone, marked nearly a quarter-century after the introduction of the original in 1990, comes on the eve of the introduction of a new Explorer at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week. We don't yet know how the new Explorer will shape up, but we're mere days away from finding out.
Now heading into its sixth generation, the Explorer has formed the basis of Ford's utility lineup for over two decades. The Explorer landed on the market right around the time that the Bronco was trailing off, predating the company's expansion into larger SUVs like the Expedition and Excursion and crossovers like the Escape, Edge and Flex.
