The motor has an aluminum intake manifold that allows a new holley 4-barrel with electric shock, custom new “dual headers” out through magnaflows and stainless steel pipes pointed out each side with deflectors. Bed was removed, flipped over, scrubbed, and wire brushed down. No rust was discovered. POR-15 was used to seal the bottom of the bed. Inside of the bed was the same, however we used POR-15 hardcoat grey. Bed is sealed completely - both sides and wells. C-notched frame, lowered front/rear leafs. Bed was not cut, it was humped. New brakes, new brake lines complete system, new tires, balanced drive shafts, new yokes and universals, rebuilt rear end, new shock, new cab body mounts. photo JB7_zpse4067abb.jpg The cab was POR-15 hardnosed grey. No rust in floors. We wire brushed the floors and applied the product. The cab is sealed. We did the cab corners inside and drilled drain holes for the future. photo JB2_zps8b828dcb.jpg photo JB1_zps9f2d69db.jpg photo N39_zps1a053c64.jpg The interior was done in red pleather with a fabric that was used in Los Angeles Bowling Alley (now long gone), when they redid the lounge seats circa 1964. The headliner is a PVC backed with faux red suede. All artwork was done by the Son. Some pieces were hand painted. New carpet/padding. Bench seat was torn down and custom filled with new foam and added height and thickness to the bench. It sits very comfortably. The bed was carpeted. The carpet sits down with snaps so it can be removed. The side walls have hand made PVC panels covered in satin black vinyl. Completely waterproof. The body was straightened and customized by the Son. The paint has been done in gold over the original yellow. The painted was sealed and has been enhanced over the last 5 months to bring out the true history, character, and beauty of the way the truck naturally aged. A series of 800 grit all the way up to 2000 grit, buffing and polishing techs were used to enhance the natural aged patins and character to truly make this a ONE OF A KIND . The original tailgate was badly bashed up. It was repaired without using any body filler to maintain the same theme. The gate was de-seamed and disassembled, then worked back to shape and re welded together. The truck is very dependable, safe, and drives supper, and gets looks everywhere we go. When we come out of a store, there are always people around checking it out. So if you are ready to instantly be The Cool Guy, this is truly a fun, safe, reliable, go anywhere ride. Plus, she really stirs the soup. photo JB37_zps8c761300.jpg photo JB36_zps5c0a3693.jpg photo JB33_zps8eecc4c4.jpg photo JB31_zps7b5b8894.jpg photo JB30_zps18ea55e7.jpg photo JB28_zps72e366bd.jpg photo JB26_zps8dd7cd61.jpg photo JB25_zpsd457e299.jpg photo JB24_zps900d30a8.jpg photo JB20_zps22bdced7.jpg

Ford recalls 125,000 Maverick, Escape, Corsair hybrids over fire risk

Tue, Jun 6 2023

Ford is recalling more than 125,000 Maverick, Escape and Lincoln Corsair hybrids produced for the 2020-2023 model years to address a fire risk associated with failure of their internal combustion engines, which Ford says is happening with undue frequency. In the event of an engine block breach, oil and fuel vapors may collect under hood in places that would make them prone to ignition, meaning that an engine failure can do more than leave owners stranded.  "Isolated engine manufacturing issues have resulted in 2.5L HEV/PHEV engine failures involving engine block or oil pan breach," Ford said in its defect report to NHTSA. "In the event of an engine block or oil pan breach, the HEV/PHEV system continues to propel the vehicle allowing the customer to continue to drive the vehicle. As the customer continues to drive after a block breach, oil and/or fuel vapor continues to be expelled and accumulates near ignition sources, primarily expected to be the exhaust system." Per Ford, the "manufacturing issues" include poor machining of the engine crankshaft and contamination of engine block mating surfaces during assembly. The issue has been fixed in production, but 2.5-liter engines that escaped the factory with defects could be ticking time bombs. Ford's solution is to re-work the underhood components that allow combustible liquids and vapors near ignition sources. This way, the cars are better protected against immolation regardless of the circumstances. Signs of failure will be obvious, Ford says. Loud clanging or booming noises, a loss of power and smoke are all immediate signs that the customer should exit the roadway as safely and quickly as possible and shut the car down.  Owners should expect to receive notifications by the end of June or early July. They should begin circulating by mid-month. All remediation will be handled for the customer free of charge by their Ford dealerships.  Related video: This content is hosted by a third party. Cosworth double-feature is XCar's a drool-worthy look back

Wed, Jun 11 2014

While American fans of Ford performance cars in the '80s and early '90s were loving the 5.0 Mustang, Taurus SHO and, for those who wanted to be a little different, the Merkur XR4Ti, British fans of the Blue Oval were getting their own unique take on speed. The Sierra RS Cosworth (which was similar but not identical to the aforementioned Merkur) and later Escort RS Cosworth were the stuff of dreams with huge wings, hood vents and big power for their time and class. XCar Films aims to find out whether it is little more than nostalgia that makes these classics famous or it really is their legitimate performance. Thanks to its Formula One and racing success, Cosworth was already a well-established performance name in the UK by the time it began selling tuned engines to Ford for the Sierra and Escort. The Sierra RS Cosworth hit the scene in 1986 with a turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 204 horsepower and rear-wheel drive. Its huge wing at the back signaled it immediately as something special, and it proved to be a performance powerhouse on and off the track. When it was retired, Ford replaced it with the Escort RS Cosworth that used an upgraded version of the same engine with 217 hp, all-wheel drive and an even bigger rear wing to net yet more racing victories. XCar really gets into the spirit of the time, opening the video with the lo-fi grain of '80s and '90s TV, but to find out whether the Cossies stand up to modern scrutiny, you have to watch the video below. Stay tuned until the end to enjoy them at their best with some vintage motorsports footage. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Amelia Island 2013: 50 years of the Ferrari-slaying Ford GT40

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

Originally developed with the sole purpose of being a Ferrari rival to compete at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Ford GT40 became a prominent racing machine in the 1960s in both Europe and the US. Not wanting to leave such an important car out of the fun, the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance also took time out from its other celebrations to recognize the 50-year anniversary of the GT40.
Over its short lifespan, the GT40 was offered in a handful of configurations, but the classic short-tailed (Mk I and Mk II) bodystyles were well represented... especially in Gulf livery. James Glickenhaus (of Ferrari P4/5 fame) had his bright yellow Mk IV in the field, and there were several others in this bodystyle, including one that has seen plenty of time on the track judging by its chipped-up nose.
As a fitting statement for the car's lengthy racing history, GT40 Chassis Number 1075 won this year's Concours de Sport award. This car took home the checkered flag at Le Mans in 1968 and 1969, and racked up a total of six wins in just 11 races.
