1959 Ford F-100 Panel Delivery Truck on 2040-cars
Castro Valley, California, United States
|
Up for auction is a 1959 Ford panel truck with 78,947 original miles from the Sacramento CA area. I was told it was used for delivering parts in that area. Had sat for many year before I got it. I have the title for it but have never registered it yet and is most likely out of the DMV system. I called them last week and it is out of the system. Was going to use it for parts but then started tinkering with it and got it running for around 30 bucks in goodies for it. Motor runs strong and sounds quiet. I did a full brake job meaning new wheel and master cylinders, brake shoes and turned the drums. New slave and clutch master cylinders as well. One wire alternator, spin on oil filter, tiny air filter, and a rebuilt steering box from Lares Corp costing me over 500 bucks. Did not have a heater originally in it but including most of those parts like the motor, fan, heater core and switch. Whatever else that may be missing most likely I can include except for the jump seat. Just has the drivers bucket seat and it is not pretty. A front bumper also included. It can easily be a daily driver and work on the body at the same time. I have seen worse bodies than this one, still will need rust repair on the hood, over one tail light and a side area and parts of the roof line. Passenger door skin is loose, just put in a drivers door glass with no cracks, have a front bumper for it and have installed the rear bumper and frame horns. Dent in right rear quarter area and a few more here & there as well. Have 4 of these beasts and would like to get down to two just so I can better concentrate on them. And $$ and space is not a problem here. Find the 57to60FORDS group on facebook. A great international club with lots of great folks! If anyone has any more questions feel free to call Dave at 510-886-3195, thanks. |

Facelifted Ford Focus caught testing in the cold
Wed, 18 Dec 2013It's that time in the life of the Ford Focus to get a little work done - a nip-tuck here, some Botox there. Yes, Ford is testing a facelifted version of its global C-segment entry, which first hit markets in Europe and North America in May 2011.
Like the touchup on the Fiesta, expect Ford's gaping grille to make its first appearance on the Focus. Our spy photographers point out that this is likely to be a more comprehensive makeover than previous spy shots suggested, based on the additional camouflage seen here on the front and rear ends of this five-door model. New head and taillights are also likely in order, as are changes to the front and rear fascia.
The interior was also snapped and features a cleaner design with a larger central display. Other than that, it looks like some buttons have been changed, making us think most of the Focus' updates are limited to the exterior.
November U.S. new car sales mixed as automakers deepen discounts
Fri, Dec 1 2017DETROIT — Major automakers posted mixed U.S. November new vehicle sales on Friday and predicted a competitive December as they rushed to sell vehicles and boost their numbers before 2017 ends. Automakers are trying to sell down 2017 model-year vehicles, offering high discounts to consumers as the year-end nears. In 2016, the industry reported record annual sales of 17.55 million units. According to consultancies J.D. Power and LMC, discounts have been above 10 percent of the average transaction price for 16 of the past 17 months, a level experts say is unhealthy and unsustainable. The November sales results come as the National Automobile Dealers Association said on Friday it expects new vehicle sales to decline to 16.7 million units in 2018, after dropping to 17.1 million for the full year in 2017. If that forecast comes true, the race to move new vehicles off dealers' lots will only intensify next year. Brandon Mason, a director at PwC's automotive practice, said a worrying trend for the industry was a rising number of subprime loans. He said subprime levels are at just over 20 percent of originations, against more than 30 percent prior to the Great Recession, but recent increases remain a concern. "That's a bit of a red flag," Mason said. "It's something to keep an eye on as we move into 2018." November results by automaker: General Motors: Sales fell 2.9 percent, with sales to consumers flat against the same month in 2016. Much of the decrease was driven by lower fleet sales. GM said strong SUV and crossover sales pushed its average transaction price for the month above $37,000 for the first time. The level of unsold cars, which has been a concern for analysts and the industry, rose slightly to 83 days' supply, from 80 days at the end of October. "More vehicles are sold in December than any other month, and we are very well positioned because we have momentum in so many segments, but especially in crossovers," said Kurt McNeil, U.S. vice president of sales operations. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles: Fleet sales are low-margin, and FCA in particular has targeted a significant reduction in this type of sale in 2017. It posted a 4 percent overall decrease in sales for November, but fleet sales were down 25 percent while sales to consumers were up 2 percent on the year. Ford: The No. 2 U.S. automaker reported a 6.7 percent increase for the month, with fleet sales up nearly 26 percent and retail sales 1.3 percent higher than in November 2016.
Ford says 70% of its models to get stop-start by 2017
Sun, 15 Dec 2013Ford is following up on a report we posted a few weeks back that the Blue Oval would be adding stop-start technology to its entire model range. Now, the Dearborn-based automaker has announced that the fuel-saving feature would be available on 70 percent of the company's range by 2017.
Ford claims the technology will improve fuel economy by around 3.5 percent, although its actual effect will vary based on how the owner drives - apparently up to a 10-percent improvement is possible for those who sit in heavy traffic (Los Angelenos, this means you). The latest recipient of the technology is the updated 2014 Ford Fiesta with the company's three-cylinder EcoBoost powerplant.
Part of the reasoning for the new addition has to do with cost. Ford claims the tech is affordable and easy to implement. "Simply put, Auto Start-Stop helps customers use less fuel, which is an important component of Ford's Blueprint for Sustainability," Ford's global powertrain vice president, Bob Fascetti, said.
