UP FOR AUCTION IS A HARD TO FIND 56 F100 CUSTOM CAB BIG WINDOW TRUCK THAT NEEDS TO FIND A NEW HOME. I NEED TO FOCUS ON THE MONEY PIT PROJECT AHEAD OF IT. THE CAB PICTURED HAS HAD THE FRAME MODIFIED WITH A GM FRONT SUBFRAME (THINK NOVA) WITH POWER STEERING AND DISK BRAKES AND A GM 10 B0LT REAR. THE OTHER FRAME THAT GOES WITH IT IS THE ONE THAT THE FRIEND I GOT THE TRUCK FROM WAS GOING TO USE INSTEAD. HE SAID IT WAS A FAT MAN MUSTANG FAB KIT THAT WAS BOUGHT SEVERAL YEARS AGO. THE REAR END THAT GOES WITH IT IS A C4 CORVETTE UNIT . I DO NOT HAVE THE MOUNTING KIT BUT THEY ARE REASONABLE AND AVAILABLE FROM SEVERAL VENDERS. THE LOUVERED HOOD PICTURED IS RUF AND GOES WITH IT.  THE TRUCK HAS GOOD USABLE INNER FENDERS AND RADIATOR SUPPORT. THE FENDERS ARE FIBERGLASS AND ARE EXCELLENT QUALITY . THE REARS ARE THREE OR FOUR INCHES WIDER THAN STOCK. THE TRUCK ALSO INCLUDES ONE VERY NICE RUNNING BOARD AND A NEW REAR ROLL PAN. THE ENGINE IS A COBRA MUSTANG 5.0 AND TREMIC 5 SPEED WITH WIRING HARNESS THAT I BOUGHT FROM ANOTHER FRIEND. IT WAS GOING IN A DIFFERENT TRUCK PROJECT THAT DIDNT GET OF THE GROUND. IT HAS NICE COATED SHORTY HEADERS, AEROMOTIVE FUEL RAILS WITH REGULATOR,AND SLIGHTLY MORE CAM. THE MOTOR WAS SAID TO BE VERY STRONG BUT HAS SET A COUPLE OF YEARS. THE TRUCK CAB HAS RUST IN LOWER CAB CORNERS AND  LOWER DOORS. THERE IS SOME ON THE ROOF WHERE THE TOP MEETS THE DRIP RAIL (PICTURED) ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND IS VERY REPAIRABLE .IT HAD SOME RUST REPAIR IN FRONT FLOOR PANS WHAT LOOKS TO BE MANY YEARS AGO. IT TOOK ME A COUPLE OF YEARS TO TALK A FRIEND OUT OF THIS TRUCK BUT LIKE HIM I WANT TO SEE SOMEONE WITH THE TIME TO BUILD HER. EMAIL ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS

Jay Leno and Lee Iacocca reflect on 50 years of Ford Mustang

Mon, 30 Dec 2013

Lee Iacocca oversaw the birth of the Ford Mustang back in the 1960s, rocketing the new pony car nameplate into million-unit sales territory in its initial go-round and cementing its place in the history books. Thus, we were immediately drawn to this latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage, in which the funnyman hosts Iacocca for a look at the origins of Ford's most iconic sports car. The legendary auto exec is looking notably more frail than when we last saw him, but if we're being asked around as a video guest when we're 89 years old, we'll consider that evidence of a life well lived.
Serial No. 0001 is on hand for the occasion for Jay's romp through history, as is the historic Mustang 1 showcar from 1962. Of course, the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang GT (in prototype form) makes an appearance at the end of the episode with chief engineer Dave Pericak, as well. Get some, below.

First Ford Mustang prototype shots caught by legendary spy shooter Jim Dunne

Fri, 12 Apr 2013

You know how people refer to someone as having "been around the block" to mean they're very experienced? Well, when it comes to automotive spy photography, Jim Dunne actually laid down the concrete slabs of the block's sidewalk. The unforgettable Dunne more or less invented the car spy game - a fact he cemented by writing book called Car Spy - and has been delivering spy shots and reporting on the industry for some 45 years now. (He also once employed this writer as his impromptu personal chauffer on a Volkswagen trip in Germany, while he slept, but that's a story for a different time.)
In any event, Dunne must be on a mission to prove that "elder statesman" doesn't also mean "washed up" as it is his shots of the upcoming new 2014 Ford Mustang that we've been handed by our friends at KGP Photography.
Mr. Dunne has likely spent the last few years obtaining powerful telescopic lenses, as the Ford in question has clearly been photographed from some distance. Nevertheless, what you see here is visual evidence that the sixth-generation Mustang has moved beyond the mule stage, and is now testing in proper prototype form. Sources indicate that there are production-spec body panels under that baggy canvass dress; but the slightly less bulky silhouette of the new car can be just made out. While the car's bumpers have been removed to obfuscate things, we can tell by way of the camo's apertures that the car's taillights have moved upwards and towards the lip of the tail. A fender vent appears to be visible, too, just behind the front wheel.
