(392 gears) I have taken this truck to several car shows since I have owned it and it has never left me down. The paint is older and a has few road chips from being a driver. If I would keep it I would paint it black as the body is very straight on it. This is a solid California truck built in Long Beach and it resided in southern California until I bought it 2 years ago. I have another project coming and I need the room for it."

I am selling my 54 f100 truck to make room for the next project. This truck was built (Long Beach) and resided in southern California until two years ago when I purchased it. It has been used as a daily driver and the 8 year old paint has several rock chips to show for that. The body is very straight and it is worthy of a black paint job if I were to keep it. It has a fresh 302 V8 with 10K miles and a check of the block number that shows it was out of a 71 Torino, it is coupled to a fresh C4 Automatic green dot, white dot transmission. For those who are saying what is that, it is a C4 that could be run as a two speed or three speed depending on driving conditions. (some call them city, country or select-o-matic or cruise-o-matic trannys.) I have it hooked up to a Lokar shifter for an AOD so it can be run in drive or overdrive positions as a two speed or three speed. The differential has 392 gears so it runs fine either way. Front end and brakes are bone stock however I did install a single leaf (added one back for a total of two) to drop the front end to improve the stance and the ride on the truck. I also removed half the leaf springs(every other leaf) on the rear to improve the ride and installed new gas shocks. This truck steers and stops with no issues. The original gauges and speedo work and it has been converted to 12 volt with 12v electric wipers. We added ceramic headers with dual exhaust and an HEI distributor. This truck is far from a rat rod, but not a show truck, just a very nice solid daily driver. Starts, runs, drives no knocks, doesn't smoke, drives well. If your down for Cruising the Coast we are not that far away from Gulfport MS and would be happy to show it. Truck is for sale as it where is, I am the owner and have clear title in my name, I will be happy to assist with loading with the shipper of your choice.

Thanks for keeping us on our toes, Detroit Auto Show [w/poll]

Wed, Jan 14 2015

Here at Autoblog, we love unexpected debuts at auto shows – and judging by our Detroit Auto Show comments and traffic, you do, too. Surprise reveals have been fewer and farther between in recent years with so many ways for vehicles to be teased or leak out, but this week's show has been a revelation. More to the point, it's been a series of revelations, with automakers from around the globe successfully delivering a brace of concept and production surprises. It's made our jobs a lot more exciting and challenging this week, and even though it's actually more work to react and run-and-gun when the sheet is pulled on a surprise reveal than it is to publish an already-written embargoed story, we've had more fun covering this show for you than any domestic show in memory. We hope you've enjoyed the surprises along with us. To that end, borrowing the words of an unnamed automaker PR flack, we'd like to thank the following automakers for enduring "mountain of antacids" and that "creeping sense of paranoia" necessary to keeping ones' wares totally under wraps until the sheets are pulled off the sheetmetal: Buick Avenir concept Chevrolet Bolt concept Ford GT concept Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Hyundai HCD-15 Santa Cruz concept And while we're at it, we'd like to throw in an shout-out to Detroit's substantially revised and revitalized Cobo Center, and in particular, the redone Michelin media center, which is arguably the single best accommodations for writing show stories that we've encountered on the entire international circuit. Well done, everyone. Thank you, and keep the surprises coming. Auto News Detroit Auto Show Buick Chevrolet Ford Hyundai Volvo 2015 Detroit Auto Show

Autoblog Technology of the Year Award Special | Autoblog Podcast #758

Thu, Dec 1 2022

This episode of the Autoblog Podcast features Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore, Road Test Editor Zac Palmer and Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski. The trio begin by discussing the 2022 Technology of the Year award. Ford's Onboard Scales and Smart Hitch hauling/towing tech as tested in the F-150 Lightning won this year. Why the Ford won, how testing went down and Ford's competition — including the GMC Hummer EV and Genesis GV60 — are discussed. After diving through the Technology of the Year award testing, the three take on this week's news. A mysterious vehicle based on the Corvette (that isn't a Corvette) is supposedly on its way. Audi is giving us "Performance" versions of the RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback. Plus, we discuss a recent study that provides data for the 10 longest lasting vehicles on the road today. After the news, the crew dive into the cars they've been driving this week. Greg's been behind the wheel of a Nissan Pathfinder, while Jeremy and Zac have been driving some plug-in hybrids, including the Lexus NX 450h+ and Autoblog's long-term BMW 330e xDrive. J.D. Power study identifies top seats for your tush

Tue, Aug 29 2017

File under News your fanny can use: The seating systems in the Ford Escape and Edge, the Audi A3, Chevrolet Cruze, Kia Cadenza, Porsche Cayenne and Toyota Tundra received top marks in a new J.D. Power study on seating and seat belt quality and satisfaction. The J.D. Power 2017 Seat Quality and Satisfaction Study asked more than 77,000 new owners and lessees of 2017 model-year cars and light trucks to rate their vehicle's seats and seat belts within the first 90 days of taking ownership. The survey is broken up into seven vehicle segments and scored on total seat problems per 100 within each segment, with awards presented to the seating system supplier. Canadian auto supplier Magna won three of seven first-place awards for its seating systems in the A3, Escape and Edge. Ireland-based Adient got top marks for its seats in the Cadenza and Cayenne. Lear Corp. won for the Cruze, and Avanzar Interior Technologies scored highest for seats in the Tundra. J.D. Power says its study is intended for automakers and suppliers with quality and satisfaction information to be used in developing and marketing seating systems. "But the results are just as interesting to a consumer audience," the company says. "After all, some drivers spend a considerable amount of time behind the wheel, and it's helpful to know which vehicles offer the most comfortable seats for those long commutes." Ain't that the truth. Ford was the only automaker whose seat systems, both manufactured by Magna, received top honors in two segments: the Escape for mass-market compact SUV and the Edge for mass-market midsize/large SUV. J.D. Power says it used 22 attributes to measure seat quality, three measures of seat belt quality and 12 to measure satisfaction. Awards were presented to the seating suppliers.
