Up for auction is my 2004 Ford Explorer Limited.  It's a 1-owner vehicle, which was purchased right off the show room floor for over  $42K. The pearl white Limited Edition Explorer is the top of the line and most sought after, and this one comes with all the top options, except, 4-wheel drive.  This vehicle has served us very well, but our children are all grown up; so we no longer use it as much.  I hate to let it go, but the wife says its time!

Mechanical.  The vehicle still runs very well.  The engine and transmission both function perfectly, and all other components work fine.  The tires are in good condition, and the vehicle handles well on the road. The vehicle was maintenance frequently, but there are few minor things.  The ABS light is on due the vehicle needing a hub bearing. The struts or shocks will also need to be replace in the near future.

Exterior.  There are a few minor scuffs/dings, but overall the exterior is in excellent condition.  The paint still looks good when cleaned up.  The pearl white is the most sought after color, and you can only get it with the Limited edition. The windshield has what appears to be a crack, but I had it sealed about a year ago; therefore, it won't ever spread, and will not be in any violation.

Interior.  There are signs of wear and tear, but the interior is still in good condition.  The driver's seat has a tear, which can be stitched together rather easily. I will try to doit before the auction ends. The rest of the seats are free of rips.  The carpet is clean, and free of any major stains.

This is a nice vehicle and reliable vehicle.  Again, it has served us well over the years, and hopefully, it would do the same for the next owner(s).  Please view the pics closely, and feel free to ask any questions. Thanks and Good Luck!.

Ford to build Explorer in Russia to meet demand [w/video]

Fri, 12 Apr 2013

The current Ford Explorer is sold in more than 64 countries, and this three-row vehicle continues to grow in popularity worldwide. To keep up with demand, Ford began producing the Explorer at Ford Sollers Elabuga Assembly Plant in Tatarstan, Russia, a joint venture facility. This partnership will build Russian-market Explorers only, and production of export vehicles not destined for Russian buyers will continue to be built at Ford's assembly plant in Chicago.
Before this plant went online, Ford would ship Explorers to Russia (and other regions around the world) as partially assembled knock-down units where final assembly would eventually take place. While there is no indication as to how many Explorers Ford Sollers will build for Russia, Ford did add that exports of the SUV were up 65 percent last year (from 2011) accounting for more than 24,000 units.
Scroll down for a press release about the Russian Explorer as well as a video (bad music and all) showing the SUV being produced in Tatarstan.

2015 Ford Mustang GT Line-Lock Burnout

Mon, 03 Nov 2014

In this brief Short Cut, Autoblog's Steven Ewing demonstrates Line-Lock on the 2015 Ford Mustang GT. Accessed through an on-screen performance menu, the feature temporarily locks the front brakes to help you heat up the rear tires for better traction, as you would for drag racing. The result? A 15-second smokescreen.

Ford Fusion demand outstripping supply

Sat, 15 Jun 2013

The attractive new 2013 Ford Fusion has done wonders for the brand in the highly competitive midsize sedan segment - the vehicle is up nearly 22 percent compared to last year. But that sales momentum may soon hold steady due to low inventory levels of the new Fusion across the United States.
According to a report in The Detroit News, citing automotive data and Ward's Auto, Ford currently has a 39-day supply of the Fusion. That might sound fine, but a normally healthy average is about a 60-day supply. If Ford were to stop production on the Fusion today, there would only be enough vehicles available to get through another five weeks of sales, according to the News.
Currently, Ford produces the Fusion at its three-shift assembly plant in Hermosillo, Mexico, and will add production at its facility in Flat Rock, MI later this year. A Ford spokesperson told The Detroit News that when Flat Rock production comes online, the automaker will need to rush new stock out to the regions with the most demand for the Fusion. Ford has doubled its coastal retail market share, with huge amounts of growth in areas like Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami, the News reports.
