Up for sale is this Pristine 2001 Ford Expedition XLT 4WD. This vehicle is immaculate and has a Metallic Blue exterior with gray interior. The seats are in great condition and they are also fully powered with power lumbar adjustments.  This is a very rare option to find in these cars. This Expedition just turned 97k miles and it runs and drives fantastically. This is a really nice unabused SUV and probably the cleanest Expedition on eBay. The drive is so smooth and quiet, its like driving a new Expedition. I have a great video that I uploaded on here showing the vehicle running and all of its equipment working perfectly, be sure to watch!
This vehicle was very well taken cared of and it shows. This vehicle needs nothing but a new caring owner and a new home. The previous owner never smoked in this car and the vehicle was always garaged kept by the middle-aged couple. This vehicle was also never involved in any accidents and has a clean carfax report. This is also a extremely low mileage vehicle and has all the options worth having in a full size SUV.
This Expedition is loaded up with all the options that you could want. It has power seats with lumbar settings, keyless entry with code pad, power windows, power mirrors, remote start with alarm, CD changer in armrest, Premium sound system, 3rd row seating with rear air, towing package with winch, alloy wheels, roof rack, 4 wheel drive option, triton V8 engine, power adjustable pedals, rear audio outlets for head phones, running boards, and too much more to list Im sure im forgetting things but this SUV is loaded to the max!
This SUV comes with the two original Ford keys and two remote key fobs as well. I also have the remote for the remote start and alarm. We have all the owners manuals and booklets for the vehicle with the keyless entry code card as well. The spare tire and jack are also here and in great condition.
This vehicle was very well cared for and it shows. The maintenance all appears to be current and the vehicle is reliable and runs like a dream. The car has new matching Goodyear tires all around with plenty of tread remaining. The previous owner just installed a brand new battery as well. We have driven it 500 miles and it seems to be running and driving 100%. You can literally jump in this vehicle and drive it 2,000 miles back home without any problems. We changed all the motor and transmission fluids and the vehicle has new brakes, new rotors, and new windshield wiper blades.
The exterior of the vehicle is super clean. The body panels are all perfect and the paintwork in perfect shape. The paint is glossy and the vehicle looks like its only a couple of years old. The exterior is in above average condition and near mint. There is no real flaws to point out on the exterior at all. Its just a great vehicle and its looks fantastic. The paint and all body panels are straight and original.
The interior of the vehicle is super clean. The seats are in great condition and the fabric is supple and clean. The dash and door panels are also in perfect condition and clean.  All the trimmings and other interior trims are in perfect condition. The interior is in fantastic condition in my opinion. The interior was just completly detailed recently! There is nothing to pick on with this car. It looks 100% better then it does in the photos.
This car is being sold as-is, where-is, and there is no warranties expressed or implied. If you would like to see the car and test drive it, you are more than welcome to do so. Also, feel free to ask me about the buy-it-now price. If you are located outside my local area, I will assist in any way possible in having the car shipped to you at your cost. A $500 non-refundable deposit must be made within 24 hours on the auctions end. The remaining balance must be paid in full by 3 days after the closing of the auction unless other arrangements are discussed with me in advance. With that being said, feel free to email, call, or text me at anytime if you have any questions or concerns. My name is Matt and my number is 646 - 243- 9866.  Thanks and good luck bidding!

Detroit's new fleet of donated police cars have safety issues [w/video]

Wed, 23 Oct 2013

In a show of generosity in mid-August, Detroit's business leaders donated $8 million to the Police Department and Fire Department in order to buy 100 new police vehicles and 23 EMS ambulances. But now officers have discovered - and complained - that the police vehicles have glaring safety issues, Deadline Detroit reports. It is not made clear what models of the fleet vehicles - which include police versions of the Ford Taurus, the Chevrolet Caprice and the Dodge Charger - are affected by the safety issues.
Officers reportedly have complained that the Plexiglass partition separating front-seat officers and back-seat prisoners is easily breached, and that the front passenger seat is installed too close to the dashboard. Prisoners who manage to writhe out of their handcuffs can bend the Plexiglass and reach into the cockpit, and sitting too close to the dashboard can render airbags more dangerous and make officers more vulnerable to injury in a crash.
Mark Diaz, president of the Detroit Police Officers Association, received the complaints and reportedly said the vehicles would get safety updates addressing the issues. But Deadline Detroit reports that it checked some of the offending police cars and, as of the last few days, they hadn't been updated.

United States drivers buying fewer Mexican-made cars

Tue, May 10 2016

Crossovers and pickup trucks are not only growing in market share, they're also more profitable than cars. A crossover on the same platform as a sedan retails for thousands more, despite similar components. It's one of the reasons we've seen automakers rapidly shifting production of their sedans and hatchbacks to Mexico, where cheap labor preserves the thin profit margins on these inexpensive vehicles. But as the market continues to shift in the United States, Mexico is getting burned by its lack of product diversity. The country's auto exports, which are heavy on cars, suffered a 16-percent drop last month, Automotive News reports. In total, year-over-year exports fell from 233,515 to 197,020 last month, while year-to-date exports are down by 7.4 percent, from 922,029 to 854,118. The number one culprit? America – which usually accounts for 75 percent of Mexico's exports – and its appetite for crossovers and pickup trucks bolstered by cheap gas prices. While Mexico does build some light truck models – AN specifically calls out the Ram 2500, Honda HR-V, GMC Sierra, and Toyota Tacoma as export leaders – the vast majority of vehicles rolling out of its factories are sedans and hatchbacks. In fact, the three biggest drops in Mexican exports came from companies whose south of the border factories only build cars – Ford (Fusion/Lincoln MKZ and Fiesta), Mazda (Mazda3), and Volkswagen (Golf and Jetta). Mexican Automotive Industry Association President Eduardo Solis told AN the export shortfall will likely be sorted out sooner rather than later, thanks to a pair of new factories – a Kia car factory and an Audi SUV plant – that are coming online by year's end. The two facilities will add around 100,000 vehicles to the country's export totals, which Solis said should leave the industry on the verge of breaking another export record in 2016. But how sustainable will these record-breaking years be? Slapping an "Hecho en Mexico" sticker on a new German SUV won't be enough to change the fact that Mexico's product mix is tilted too heavily towards body styles that are not growing in volume. Mexico's record-breaking export years probably aren't at an end, but we'd argue they're certainly under threat.
