1999 Ford Escort Se Wagon 4-door 2.0l on 2040-cars
Tooele, Utah, United States
1999 Ford Escort SE Wagon in great condition - 88,524 original correct miles with clear title! I have seen these wagons sell for more than my Buy It Now price with twice the miles!! - This car has a 5 speed manual transmission...gets 4-5 mpg more than the automatic model. A/C blows cold and the heat blows hot. Everything works in the car as it should. Just had work done last week which included a new fuel filter, new plugs and wires, new rotors and brake pads, and the rear wiper wiring was re-wired so the rear wiper is now functional. Car runs and idles very well. Belts were checked and are good. The tires still have a good amount of tread left, and the rims are actual alloy rims, not just steel rims with hubcaps. Issues: The clutch is noisy when it is pushed in to put the car into gear. Once you let it out the noise stops. The car shifts great and engages into gear great with no problems. Had it checked out and the mechanic told me that the throw out bearing in the clutch is going out, but that it stills shifts well and that if I can ignore the noise the clutch will still last a long time without being replaced. Also there are two dents right behind the rear marker light by the driver's rear corner of the car and some minor scratches on the rear bumper (see pic). The front bumper has some scrapes on the very bottom that you have to be laying on the ground looking up at the bumper to see. Other than that the body is in fantastic shape with no dents or other blemishes that I can find. Paint is shiny and headlights are clear. The interior is very clean and in good shape. A few scuffs on the glove box but that's it. Non smoker car. Was purchased in Arizona and driven back without any problems or incidents whatsoever and got 36 mpg! Will make a great student or commuter car for someone! Shipping or pickup is the sole responsibility of the buyer and the car is sold AS IS. I do have a brand new in the box K & N Air Filter and a brand new set of rear lift gate shocks that come with the car as well (current shocks work fine and rear gate stays up just fine, but I got these on sale so I bought them). I have described the car to the best of my knowledge....the title is free and clear. A $500 deposit through Paypal is required within 24 hours of the auction's end. Thank you for looking. |

What next for Alan Mulally?
Wed, 23 Apr 2014Alan Mulally has emerged as a hero when it comes to American manufacturing. He came to Ford in 2006 after serving as head of Boeing's commercial aircraft division, streamlined operations, sold off the costly elements of its Premier Automotive Group and saved Ford from having to be bailed out by the federal government like its cross-town rivals Chrysler and General Motors did. But as we reported mere days ago, he's widely expected to step down from the chief executive's office at Ford shortly.
So what's next for one of the most successful executives in the business? Hard to say, but don't expect Mulally to disappear into retirement. Though he didn't ultimately take the top job at Microsoft, industry insiders expect to see him in another influential position - likely as a board director or even chairman of another company. (We say "another company" and not Ford because while Bill Ford may have stepped aside as CEO to bring Mulally on board in the first place, we don't see him giving up his chairmanship of the board also.)
Mulally has likely already lined up his next move, and could either announce what that move will be as soon as Ford confirms Mark Fields as his successor, or could wait awhile. Insiders speculate that he could leverage his transportation and aerospace experience into a position at General Electric or a major airline, his manufacturing expertise to benefit a company like Procter & Gamble or his management skills at a consultancy firm.
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Ford Transit can haul on the track
Tue, 19 Aug 2014Line up any two comparable vehicles, and eople are going to want to race them. Need proof? In its latest track battle, Auto Express wants to know which commercial vehicle can lap a circuit faster - a Ford Transit or Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Let's face it, neither of these European vans were ever meant to be near the track unless they are delivering a racecar and a ton of parts for a fun weekend, but it's massively fun to watch them give it a go anyway.
The one thing that Auto Express really illustrates here is the modern marvel that is stability control. The driver hops curves, and these big vans lean in the corners like your friend walking home from a long night at the bar. However, because of the amazing stability systems, the vans mostly keep all of their wheels planted and never seem close to getting sloppy, despite their behemoth size.
Unfortunately, the two vans aren't exactly fairly paired. The Ford has a dual rear axle and a few other advantages over the Mercedes, but it's still hilarious to watch them go. Even better, the host breaks down everything happening behind the wheel like these commercial vehicles were two Porsches. Enjoy watching this very unorthodox battle between Ford and Mercedes.
2014 Ford Mustang GT
Fri, 17 May 2013I was more than a year removed from my last experience with the Mustang GT and its delicious 5.0 V8 when this new 2014 example rolled up to my driveway recently. Good weather and a planned road trip across the state meant that I would get plenty of seat time in this conservatively specified example, too. In total, I logged about 400 miles in a week of driving - not a lot for some of you super commuters out there, but quite a lot for this work-from-home journalist.
The basic formula of the 5.0 has stayed the same for 2014. The 2013 model year saw a number of updates to keep the Mustang fresh until it's replaced with an all-new generation for 2015. So, for its bon voyage tour, the fifth-generation Pony Car has seen only a few modifications: a couple of new paint colors (Oxford White and Ruby Read Metallic), trim and wheel revisions and, sadly, the deletion of the Boss 302 from the Ford lineup. However, while the limited-edition Boss is likely to reappear sometime after the gen-six Mustang makes its debut in 2015, the GT Track Package cars like the one I tested provide at least a partial solution for those looking for hot laps.
