Up for auction is my personal vehicle, a 2007 Ford Escape XLT 4WD with a V6 engine and 104, 657 miles. Runs great in the snow! Clear title! She's been my personal, daily commuter for years, but I've bought a new vehicle and unfortunately have to sell her to help pay for it. The vehicle is metallic green with a gray, cloth interior. Completely smoke free owner (I'm allergic to tobacco smoke). On the inside, there has been a Sony XPLOD system installed, which allows you to use your cellphone/iPhone hands free with bluetooth through the radio, as well as stream music from your Bluetooth equipped device using an app such as Pandora. You can also use the USB input to attach an MP3 player or iPod. The vehicle is being sold as is, with no warranty. I have been driving the vehicle daily for years with no issue, but there are a few items the bidder should be aware of. First, there is some damage to the left rear door (view picture) - this occurred when another car hit the door at low speed a number of months ago. The damage seems to be entirely cosmetic, and I have been driving with it this way for months with no issue, though it does make the door not close completely. I am told by the body shop that it can likely be easily fixed by simply replacing the door - which can be done quite cheaply by getting the door from a salvage yard (local shops said once I had a door, the cost to actually have it put it on is $100 or less). There are also some dints, dings, and scratches in the vehicle, such as the front bumper and a large dent near the left rear door. The inside has some spots/stains on the carpet. Windshield was fully replaced due to crack. I just had my vehicle at the Ford dealership (I have regular maintenance and oil changes performed at Ford on schedule) and they said the right front wheel bearing needs replaced. To my knowledge, these are the only current issues with the vehicle. She runs and drives great (though there is some noise from the wheel bearing that needs changed), and this is a great chance for someone who has access to a cheap replacement door or garage to get a wonderful vehicle at a steal and fix it up themselves. I really need the money for my new car, so I am letting the bidders completely control the process - I am setting the starting bid far below Kelly Blue Book value with NO RESERVE. That's right - whoever wins this auction, no matter how low the price, will get this great car! Buyer is responsible for any transportation or shipping costs.

2021 Ford Escape PHEV finally reaches dealers

Fri, Oct 1 2021

Last October – which feels like both five minutes and five years ago – Ford had to push the Escape PHEV sales date back to this year. The holdup arose because Ford had to recall the Escape's European twin, the Kuga PHEV, over a fire risk thought to center on the high-voltage battery. At the time, a Ford spokesperson said, "We are moving full scale production of Escape PHEV to the 2021 model year. The first Escape PHEVs will be sold next year." With just three months left in 2021, a Ford spokesperson confirmed to Ford Authority that the Escape PHEV has finally made it to dealer lots. The end of the Escape PHEV's long and winding road comes about a week after the Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring reached dealers. The compact luxury plug-in hybrid debuted at the 2019 LA Auto Show and was intended to go on sale in the summer of last year. But because it uses the same powertain as in the Escape, Ford had to delay the Lincoln as well.  Now that you can finally buy them, here's the quick recap. Both start with a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter inline-4 and an electric motor powering the front wheels, and a 14.4-kWh battery providing juice. The Escape makes 200 horsepower, can go 37 miles on all-electric driving, is EPA-rated at 105 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe), and returns a combined 40 mpg if the battery's dead. It starts at $34,320 before incentives. The Lincoln adds an electric motor with a single-speed transmission to power the rear wheels, as Toyota has done with the all-wheel-drive Prius, RAV4 Hybrid and Lexus UX250h. Output in the Lincoln is 266 ponies, it manages 28 miles on pure electric driving, is EPA rated at 78 MPGe, and returns a combined 33 mpg on gasoline alone. It starts at $51,485 before incentives. Ford recalls Five Hundred, Mercury Montego sedans over fuel tank woes

Mon, 18 Jul 2011

Ford has announced through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it is recalling nearly 3,000 examples of its Five Hundred and Mercury Montego (pictured) sedans from the 2007 model year.
The action, which affects 2,945 vehicles, is due to potentially defective welds between the filler neck and the fuel tank, a condition that could result in a fuel leak or the smell of gasoline reaching the occupants. In the worst-case scenario, a leak could cause a fire. Cars with the affected fuel tank problem could see an illuminated dashboard warning light as a result of the evaporative emissions leak being detected.
Ford will inspect and replace the fuel tank at no cost to owners (those who have already had the procedure done at-cost can apply for reimbursement), and the Dearborn automaker will begin notifying Five Hundred and Montego owners beginning August 15. Check out the official NHTSA press release after the jump for further details.

Report: GM struggling to market turbo technology

Tue, 20 Apr 2010

In the automotive realm, marketing can sometimes prove just as important as the actual product. Take, for instance, Ford's well regarded EcoBoost technology, which couples turbocharging with direct injection to produce more horsepower and reduce fuel consumption. Would it surprise you to hear that General Motors has had similar technology on the market for over three years?
It's true. GM's first turbocharged, direct injected powerplants hit the market for the 2007 model. The 2.0-liter Ecotec mills put down an impressive 260 horsepower and a matching 260 pound-feet of torque, and they were lauded by the press in the engine bays of the Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Sky, Chevrolet Cobalt SS and Chevrolet HHR SS. But few people outside a core group of enthusiasts actually remember this fact.
Says Uwe Grebe, executive director of GM's global advanced engineering, "We didn't have a badge and say, 'This is the most important thing we will put on all our brochures.'" Ford, however, did just that, and it's EcoBoost engines are right at the tips of all our tongues when we discuss today's most advanced powerplants. So, how does The General fix its mistake?
