Selling 1988 E-350 Hightop 1 Ton Cargo van. This van has just over 39,000 original miles, my mechanics have confirmed this by all of the factory belts and hoses and other parts which were still on the van until about 3 years ago when I bought it and put it back on the road. It spent the first 15 plus years of its life as a medical equipment transport vehicle of some sort in Humble Texas. It was then bought and was going to be turned into some sort of RV which never came about and just sat. The 3rd owner bought it and was going to haul his custom motor cycles cross country with it but he started having some health issues so the van went back to sitting some more. It was at this point I bought it and was going to use it for parts for another van when my mechanics informed me this would be a huge mistake do to its low milage and overall great mechanical shape, so with the new information I decided to fix it up and use it.
This van always instantly starts right up, it drives and handles like new. The air conditioner and heater along with wind shield wipers and washer work great. The AM radio only works when it wants too. This van is very unique as it has cargo doors on both passenger and drivers side. This is fantastic for loading an unloading!! It of course has the standard rear cargo doors as well. We installed a pair of E-Track cargo tie down system on the floor of the van which runs full length of cargo area. It has recently made several loaded trips back and forth to the Dallas area with no problems.
It has a new radiator, water pump, hoses, belts along with new fuel tank pumps. Its AC system was reworked 3 years back and still works great. It has the legendary 460 V8 thats does not leak smoke or knock, because it has on 39K miles on it. The passenger side exhaust manifold has a small leak which started about year ago, but after 2mins of running becomes silent. This has not gotten any worse since it first started. It has dual fuel tanks with a new fuel pumps in both tanks, however recently the rear tank pump has started having delivery issues causing the engine to starve for fuel. The tires run smooth and look good with decent tread. There is a solid rust free van with the exception of the front lip of the hood.

Ford readying 2015 F-150 drift truck for SEMA
Sun, 19 Oct 2014Between the Mustangs you'd find in Formula D and the Fiestas in the Global and World rallycross championships, there's no shortage of Ford drift cars on the scene. But at the upcoming SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the Blue Oval automaker intends to show off a different kind of drift machine.
Created in collaboration with driftmeister Vaughn Gittin, Jr., this custom F-150 has been designed for "on- and off-road capabilities, as well as drifting and jumping." It's got a suspension with components from Kibbetech King and Air Lift Performance to give it 12 inches of travel and comes packed with 5 Recaro seats. Other details remain limited, but if the rendering above is anything to go by, it ought to be pretty awesome.
Alongside the Gittin truck, Ford will also be showcasing another F-150 designed together with freestyle motorcross rider Brian Deegan, packing the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine and a long list of enhancements. Between these two trucks, Ford hopes to extend its winning streak for the Hottest Truck award that it's taken four years running now. Feel free to read more in the press release below.
Aluminum lightweighting does, in fact, save fuel
Mon, Apr 14 2014When the best-selling US truck sheds the equivalent weight of three football fullbacks by shifting to aluminum, folks start paying attention. Oak Ridge National Laboratory took a closer look at whether the reduced fuel consumption from a lighter aluminum body makes up for the fact that producing aluminum is far more energy intensive than steel. And the results of the study are pretty encouraging. In a nutshell, the energy needed to produce a vehicle's raw materials accounts for about 10 percent of a typical vehicle's carbon footprint during its total lifecycle, and that number is up from six percent because of advancements in fuel economy (fuel use is down to about 68 percent of total emissions from about 75 percent). Still, even with that higher material-extraction share, the fuel-efficiency gains from aluminum compared to steel will offset the additional vehicle-extraction energy in just 12,000 miles of driving, according to the study. That means that, from an environmental standpoint, aluminum vehicles are playing with the house's money after just one year on the road. Aluminum-sheet construction got topical real quickly earlier this year when Ford said the 2015 F-150 pickup truck would go to a 93-percent aluminum body construction. In addition to aluminum being less corrosive than steel, that change caused the F-150 to shed 700 pounds from its curb weight. And it looks like the Explorer and Expedition SUVs may go on an aluminum diet next. Take a look at SAE International's synopsis of the Oak Ridge Lab's study below. Life Cycle Energy and Environmental Assessment of Aluminum-Intensive Vehicle Design Advanced lightweight materials are increasingly being incorporated into new vehicle designs by automakers to enhance performance and assist in complying with increasing requirements of corporate average fuel economy standards. To assess the primary energy and carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) implications of vehicle designs utilizing these materials, this study examines the potential life cycle impacts of two lightweight material alternative vehicle designs, i.e., steel and aluminum of a typical passenger vehicle operated today in North America. LCA for three common alternative lightweight vehicle designs are evaluated: current production ("Baseline"), an advanced high strength steel and aluminum design ("LWSV"), and an aluminum-intensive design (AIV).
FBI investigating recently fired Ford engineer for espionage
Fri, 25 Jul 2014Agents of the FBI are investigating a potential case of industrial espionage involving a recently fired Ford employee. The Dearborn, MI-based manufacturer had its world headquarters searched by FBI agents on July 11, and according to The Detroit News, had warrants to seize recording devices handed over to Ford by Sharon Leach, a now-former Ford engineer.
Leach, who had spent 17 years with the Blue Oval, was fired last month, after Ford Security relieved her of eight Sansa listening devices. The FBI got involved shortly after her dismissal, searching her home on June 20 and seizing some two dozen items, including computers, jump drives and financial records, according to warrants obtained by The News.
Ford has remained quiet on the matter, with spokeswoman Susan Krusel confirming that the automaker was working with the FBI as part of a "joint investigation," while declining to provide any additional details.
