Ford Econoline High-Roof Limousine Van.

Call it what you like it; Party Bus, Limo Van, Executive Limousine, Limo Coach or Party Van,

this is truly one of a kind and will turn heads!

The base of this build is a 2006 Ford Econoline Extended Van, a single owner with only 190,850 miles on it.  After a thorough inspection, our store owner purchased this beauty from an auction, so we do have the clear title in hand.  Once it got to the shop, our all-star team of fabricators set out to transform the family van into an all-out Nightclub on wheels.  With 12" of added head-room due to the aftermarket fiberglass roof, we were able to include a larger than normal TV and make seating configuration more comfortable for taller passengers.

- Seating for 10-12 passengers (7 rear seatbelts in case you are a transport company looking to stay within your permits)

EXTERIOR:

- Fresh Tuxedo Paint Job (BLACK: rims, bumpers, grille, roof, running board / WHITE on the body)

- 5% Limo tint on rear window / 35% on driver/pass windows

- Black Powder Coated Billet Grille

- Euro Clear LED Headlights and Corners (nicest front end you will ever see on a van)

INTERIOR:

(this is where we took things to another level)

- Black Granite Flooring and Bar top (Yes - Black Granite like you would see in a luxury home or casino)

- Black Ostrich / Quilted Vinyl seating

- Grey / Black Suede plastics

- 3 bars behind the seats for cup holders and napkins

- The Roof was originally wrapped with a high-res image of the Sky, then we added a framed mirror with color-changing LEDs to make for a beautiful light-show controlled by a remote.

- Orange Mirroring has been placed underneath the seats and in the bar area(s).  All of the mirroring has been laser-etched with a custom design and is backlit with LEDs to give off one of the most beautiful visuals we have ever seen!!!

AUDIO/VIDEO:

-50" Panasonic HD TV with Blue Ray Player

- 7" Farenheit Touchscreen CD/DVD/IPOD Player with Bluetooth

- (6) Pioneer Speakers (6X8)

- Kicker 650.4 Speaker Amplifier

FCA to skip summer shutdowns as automakers rev up U.S. assembly lines

Thu, Jun 18 2020

DETROIT — Several of FCA's facilities will skip their usual summer shutdowns to get a jump on rebuilding inventory, the company confirmed early Wednesday.  The plants that will remain open include three in the United States (Jefferson North in Detroit, Toledo Assembly in Ohio, and Sterling Heights Assembly in suburban Detroit), one in Canada (Brampton Assembly in Ontario) and two in Mexico (Saltillo Truck Assembly and Saltillo Van Assembly).  This will allow dealers to address depleted inventory of popular trucks and muscle cars, Automotive News reports. Other facilities not named will observe their normal one- and two-week breaks.  Automakers are speeding up U.S. assembly lines to meet recovering demand, increasingly confident coronavirus safety protocols are working to prevent outbreaks in their plants but wary of the challenges workers face outside. Screening workers for COVID-19 using temperature scans and questionnaires, the automakers have detected some people who reported for work despite being sick. Some plants have been briefly shut down for disinfection, but so far, there has not been a major outbreak within a U.S. auto plant since most reopened May 18, company and United Auto Workers union officials said. The risk of an infection picked up outside a plant spreading along assembly lines remains a prime concern, however. An outbreak could shut down a factory costing a manufacturer millions of dollars a day. The disruption caused by the pandemic is creating other challenges as well. At Ford Motor Co's F-series pickup truck plant in Louisville, Kentucky, the company has given more than 1,000 workers leave related to COVID-19 concerns. It hired temporary workers to fill their jobs as the plant accelerates production of trucks critical to Ford's financial recovery. Demand for pickup trucks helped boost U.S. auto sales in May, and contributed to stronger than expected overall U.S. retail sales for the month. Officials of UAW Local 862, which represents workers at the Louisville plant, said a lack of child care was a significant issue for members. It had led many to stay away from the plant and collect increased unemployment benefits provided under the federal CARES coronavirus relief act. Ford has now begun arranging subsidized child care for UAW workers, Gary Johnson, the automaker's head of manufacturing told Reuters.

Project Ugly Horse: Part V

The Slippery Slope
I've had a healthy appreciation for cars that stop since one truly unfortunate incident with a runaway 1971 Lincoln Continental.
It's funny how quickly a party can turn from, "We're all having blast" to "What happened to the front of the house, and how many stitches do you think this is going to take?" Standing in a Mustang salvage shop in Kodak, Tennessee, I couldn't help but feel I had strayed into the latter territory with Ugly Horse. There was a supercharged 5.4-liter V8 plucked from a rear-ended Cobra sitting off to my left. The shelves were lined with second-hand Roush and SVT components galore, but I couldn't stop staring at a set of rotors with the approximate diameter of my chest.

Aluminum lightweighting does, in fact, save fuel

Mon, Apr 14 2014

When the best-selling US truck sheds the equivalent weight of three football fullbacks by shifting to aluminum, folks start paying attention. Oak Ridge National Laboratory took a closer look at whether the reduced fuel consumption from a lighter aluminum body makes up for the fact that producing aluminum is far more energy intensive than steel. And the results of the study are pretty encouraging. In a nutshell, the energy needed to produce a vehicle's raw materials accounts for about 10 percent of a typical vehicle's carbon footprint during its total lifecycle, and that number is up from six percent because of advancements in fuel economy (fuel use is down to about 68 percent of total emissions from about 75 percent). Still, even with that higher material-extraction share, the fuel-efficiency gains from aluminum compared to steel will offset the additional vehicle-extraction energy in just 12,000 miles of driving, according to the study. That means that, from an environmental standpoint, aluminum vehicles are playing with the house's money after just one year on the road. Aluminum-sheet construction got topical real quickly earlier this year when Ford said the 2015 F-150 pickup truck would go to a 93-percent aluminum body construction. In addition to aluminum being less corrosive than steel, that change caused the F-150 to shed 700 pounds from its curb weight. And it looks like the Explorer and Expedition SUVs may go on an aluminum diet next. Take a look at SAE International's synopsis of the Oak Ridge Lab's study below. Life Cycle Energy and Environmental Assessment of Aluminum-Intensive Vehicle Design Advanced lightweight materials are increasingly being incorporated into new vehicle designs by automakers to enhance performance and assist in complying with increasing requirements of corporate average fuel economy standards. To assess the primary energy and carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) implications of vehicle designs utilizing these materials, this study examines the potential life cycle impacts of two lightweight material alternative vehicle designs, i.e., steel and aluminum of a typical passenger vehicle operated today in North America. LCA for three common alternative lightweight vehicle designs are evaluated: current production ("Baseline"), an advanced high strength steel and aluminum design ("LWSV"), and an aluminum-intensive design (AIV).
