I'd prefer to keep it, but I am out of time to finish it.  This is one awesome van, and needs very little to complete.
It started as an original 1998 Quiqley conversion, Coil Spring front, and leaf spring rear.  I bought this as a non-runner..or, barely running, a few years ago, and have spent the past few years working on it while I can.  All the heavy work (motor swap etc) was done by a local shop.

*And* this is a 1998, the last year that requires no emissions in all 50 states, including California.
California started emissions inspections for all diesels, 1999 and later, so this 1998 will never need emission inspection, in any state, ever!!

Things that need to be finished:
Interior was gutted except for rear headliner because I didn't want to break it, so that is still grey, as are the front seats.   Everything else is tan.  The front springs are a bit soft and should be replaced with a custom, heavier spring.  I have another pair of shocks to make the font dual shocks, but I've had no time to make brackets and install them (shocks will be included).  The transmission shifter is a bit off, though it does shift into all positions.  I noticed this when I got it back from the transmission shop.  Some of the tabs that hold the driver side trim on (piece under the steering column) are broken off, so it's not 100% secure, but that should be an easy find at a junkyard.  There is one piece of trim missing from the rear passenger side, it's the first piece behind the side door, and it was missing when I bought the van.  It needs a front end alignment since the front steering linkage was replaced, the wheel is off center, so it's just a draglink adjustment.  The batteries may be weak, but it's been below 20 degrees an awful lot here.  I keep the charger on it all the time when it's parked, just in case.  I do have two new batteries, but I'm not inclined to replace them when it's below 20 degrees outside.  The interior is a bit dirty, but again...20 degree weather is not helping my motivation to clean it.  Nothing major, some rags and some windex and a vacuuming should do it, and yes, you can use your house vacuum with the brushes, it's that big inside.  The transmission temperature gage is installed, and wired, but not plugged into the transmission.  The sending unit wires must be extended to reach, though, the sending unit is installed in the pan.  The wires just need to be extended and run to the sending unit, and they are coiled up behind the trim panel, below the steering column.  I think that's it, I don't think I missed anything, but feel free to ask questions, and be sure to look at all the pictures.

The good stuff!
(All New parts have less than 2000 miles on them)
No emmisions check ever, in any state!

New heavy duty Stancor GPR, pn  586-902
New Motorcraft glow plugs

Full 4" exhaust from turbo back, aluminized straight pipe, no muffler or...
New alternator
New belt
New tensioner
New vacuum pump
New water pump

Custom intake:
The under-hood battery was installed underneath, next to the second battery, in a factory battery box
I used a 4" hole saw to drill through the hood, and the radiator support.
I then welded a piece of 4" pipe into the radiator support for structural integrity (it's just as strong as it was before cutting it)
PVC pipe is connected to the turbo, and a cone filter, and the cone filter sits directly behind the 4" hole
A custom 'airbox' of sorts was made with styrofoam insluation, as a temporary box, though it works great
This is the only way to get air into this van.
Axles:
Dana 60 front (original axle), rebuilt, 4.10 gears, open differential (an OX locker would be sweet)
Dana 80 disk brake rear from a 2000 Dodge, rebuit
New 4.10 Yukon gears
New TrueTrac Differential
New bearings and seals
New rotors
New calipers
New pads

Transmission:

Suspension:
New front cool springs, 3" over stock (first generation coil springs)
New re-arched, 9 leaf rear springs
New Monroe Gas Magnum shocks all around (pn 34658, heaviest ones I could find, same part number, front and rear)
Track bar relocated to front of axle to eliminate bind and bump steer
(this is a Quigley flaw, they mount the track bar on the rear of the axle, between the control arms, and it binds on the lower control are
causing bump-steer and erratic handling.  That has been fixed on this van.)

Interior:
New carpet
New foil-faced insulation (first layer)
New carpet padding (on top of foil faced insulation)
Seats from a 2006 E-van, great condition
Autometer Pyrometer gage
Autometer Boost gage
Autometer Transmission Temperature gage
Gages mounted in the pillar
Autometer tachometer (steering column mounted)
New JVC stereo with six new speakers

Tires/Wheels:
37x12.50x16.5 Goodyear Wrangler MT, Military version, 90+% tread
Black D-ring wheels
Centramatic Balancers
McGard lugnuts and wheel locks

I'm sure I'm missing something, because there has been a ton of work and new parts.
The front bumper is MASSIVE, and came with the van.
I installed two LightForce lights on the bumper, through a fused relay directly from the batteries.  These will come with yellow filters.

I drove this van on several ~700 mile highway trips, and it did great, I just have no time to finish it, and no need for it any more.
The reserve is low, just to break even with the parts cost.  I have several more pictures, including the gutting, cleaning, and installing of the interior, but I can post only 24 pics on the listing, but if you give me your email address, I can send more pictures.

About feedback:
The last feedback was left by a bidder that did not pay for the item.  An unpaid item case was opened, bidder was informed, unpaid item case was closed, transaction was cancelled, and THEN the buyer attempted to send funds 18 days after close of auction, by a method other than those specified in this legally binding contract.  eBay's removal of this feedback is pending.

This is a LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT.
If you bid, be prepared to follow the terms of the contract.

Check the payment details.
I will be unavailable for pickup between 31-Jan and 03-Feb.

If you plan to ship the vehicle, let me know, and be certain your shipper will transport it, it is 7'-9" tall.

On Jan-28-13 at 11:04:10 PST, seller added the following information:

NOTE: About the low score of 12 on the history report.

This is originally a Colorado vehicle that was used by one of the Colorado ski resorts (which lowers the score for some reason?  why that lowers the score escapes me)

The accident in the history happened while I owned it, and it wasn't an accident, it was stolen by a mechanic in Seymour Indiana, and recovered.
The damage was a ripped out parking brake cable, bent driveshaft, and a cut on the inside of a tire from the parking brake cable.  That was the original Dana 60 rear that has been replaced with a Dana 80, the original driveshaft that was repalced with a new driveshaft 1410 driveshaft, and the orginal Mickey Thompson tires, which have all been replaced with the 37's.  The van also had the original engine and transmission in it at that time, both of which have been replaced since.  There is nothing in the history that has lowered the value of this van, and I really wonder about the value of these 'free' auto history reports.

And, this is a nearly 100% RUST FREE Colorado truck.  There is NO ROT ANYWHERE, only minor surface rust on some parts of the frame, and no rust on any body panels, inside or out, except for minimal surface rust on some parts of the rockers (see pictures).  Somebody is going to get a killer van for far less than it would cost to build.

Chicago Auto Show: The really big reveals from shows past

Fri, Feb 9 2024

The 2024 Chicago Auto Show may seem like a shell of its former self, but it still holds the title of the largest consumer auto show in the United States. It didn't get that reputation simply by being efficiently produced or convenient for locals desperate for something to do in February — it earned it over decades of breaking automotive news and powerhouse reveals, eventually earning an informal designation as America's truck show.  2024 may be a down year for Chicago, but let's not forget all of the great things that have come out of it, historically. Here's a look at some of our staff favorites. Bet you didn't know about a few of these cars that were first revealed in the Windy City.    2008 Dodge Challenger SRT-8  I didn't just pick this one as a former Challenger owner, but instead to illustrate just how many cool Chicago debuts we take for granted. Chrysler often chose its home turf to debut new cars, so the few times its unveilings happened elsewhere tend to stick in our minds. The first Challenger SRT-8 was kind of garbage, if we're being honest. I mean, who buys a race-bred, V8-powered muscle car without a limited-slip differential? But the SRT-8 formula evolved over time into something truly special, and what we saw in Chicago was essentially the early version of the Scat Pack, which was ultimately very successful for Dodge. And who would have thought we'd be here, 15 years later, still talking about that debut? And still loving these big Mopars, flaws and all. — Associate Editor Byron Hurd SHO time in Chicago IÂ’ll always have a certain fondness for the return of the Taurus SHO at the 2009 Chicago Auto Show. Chicago has always leaned truck and van heavy for press reveals, but every now and then, as this list illustrates, something spicy would appear. The return of the SHO as a high-powered successor to the original that ran from 1989-1999 gave enthusiasts hope for FordÂ’s performance business, especially for sedans. With a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 packing 365 hp, all-wheel drive and five-spoke wheels, the SHO was a nice upgrade from the lower-rung Taurus models. It was a bit more sedate than the original SHOÂ’s Yamaha-sourced V6 that teamed with a five-speed manual transmission, but still a worthy response to the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and later the Chevy SS. The SHO — Super High Output — begat things like the Fusion ST and gave Ford solid four-door performance for the rest of the decade.

Watch a Ford Bronco casually jump a McLaren 720S

Sun, Sep 8 2019

Michael Cox can't stop jumping his classic Ford Bronco. He's jumped it on the beach. He's jumped it in the desert. He's jumped it at racetracks. Now he's jumped it in Hoonigan's backyard playground. Upping the ante on this one, he completed the jump while a modded McLaren 720S drifted underneath.  For those who don't know Michael Cox, he's a builder, racer, mad man extraordinaire who's worked with BMW and Porsche and specializes in off-road racing. Possibly more famous than the man is the vehicle he's known for driving, a custom-built Bronco that sports a cat-themed desert camo wrap.  Technically, this is not the first time Cox has visited Hoonigan and jumped his Bronco. But last time, the Bronco soared over nothing but tire crumbs and those tiny pebbles that get stuck in tread. This time, the stakes grew significantly, as a custom 720S drifted under the Bronco while it was in the air.  After a few donuts, Cox first tries a jump over a flatbed trailer. Once he easily clears that obstacle, Hoonigan brings the McLaren into the picture. Watch the video above to see a few crazy men show total disregard for the cost of a supercar.  This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. VW walks away from Aurora after self-driving startup partners with FCA

Wed, Jun 12 2019

BERLIN — Volkswagen has ended its partnership with self-driving car software firm Aurora, two days after the Silicon Valley start-up said it would build autonomous platforms for commercial vehicles with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. "The activities under our partnership have been concluded," a VW spokesman said in a statement on Tuesday following an earlier Financial Times report on the move which said VW now wanted to work with Ford Motor Co on autonomous driving. Ford's majority-owned subsidiary Argo AI is building an automated "driver" that could compete with Aurora's technology. Aurora said Tuesday "Volkswagen Group has been a wonderful partner to Aurora since the early days of development of the Aurora Driver." The company's statement added that it continues to work "with a growing array of partners." The autonomous vehicle industry is still in its infancy, and alliances and strategies are fluid. Aurora has sought to remain independent and serve a number of would-be autonomous vehicle makers rather than be acquired. Aurora, which said in February it had raised $530 million in new funding, also has partnerships with Hyundai Motor Co and China's Byton to develop and test self-driving systems for automakers, fleet owners and others. After announcing its partnership with Aurora in early 2018, VW last June began discussions with Ford to develop a range of commercial vehicles, later extending the discussions to include electric vehicles and Argo's autonomous driving technology as part of an alliance designed to save billions in costs. VW and Ford have not announced partnerships involving electric or autonomous vehicle technology. Green Chrysler Fiat Ford Volkswagen Technology Emerging Technologies Autonomous Vehicles
