hi and thnx ~!~ I know diesels are supposed to run forever, but at 242k, this Van runs and drives much better than you would expect. it was company owned and properly serviced, as normal fleet style, to reduce risk and add life and reliability; add to that Ford's tough as nails approach with the V8 diesel and the iron build of the great E350 line.
motor starts with a gentle flick of the key and idles correctly. no gauge or dash lights are on. tranny snicks into drive and the van just pulls right along. the ride is firm but exactly to be expected. steers straight, rides well and is reasonably comfy. I have had these power-strokes before in the truck line, and it is just very nice to see, like this one here, a van that does not clatter like mad and no smoke at startup ~!~ (or at all... )
the rear bins are pro grade and can handle all your organizing needs. the floor has been covered with protective mats, and although dusty, they did a good job. all dash and features seem to work fine. front drivers seat has some wear tears, the rest you can see... please see all photos carefully. there are signs of previous repairs along the van's bottom edge, please see the black paint line along the body; it is hiding some repaired rust and corrosion and starting to age. also, please note how clean, dry and solid are the frame, floors, lines and all undercarriage. overall very clean front to rear.
the E350 is at my mechanic's shop now and I just authorized $900 in repairs. I do not want a buyer to have problems or driving home issues, so... he found that the power steering pump had a front seal leak, so that gets replaced. he recommended some new brake lines, OK. the alternator was putting out about 9 volts, so he will install a new one. I will have repairs done and receipts to back it up. I have no problem fixing things if it makes sense, I just was hoping to get off a little easier.
feel please feel free to bid and buy, truck runs and looks great from most any angle. please see all photos, I took every good and bad shot I could. feel free to email or call, or just come by and take a drive. vehicle is as shown and at my home. j. bettes, 805 Clinton ave, Bridgeport, CT 06604 >>

Buy Ford and GM stock and make 5%
Tue, Feb 2 2016Want to make a five-percent return when 10-year treasuries are paying around two percent? Ford (F) and General Motors (GM) have solid balance sheets, strong cash flow, solid earnings, and growing markets. By all accounts, they are smart investments. But the market is down on these stocks. Why? Some of the stupid excuses include: They are cyclical companies The Detroit 3 have lost 3.5 million in sales since 2000 The world economy is shaky GM recently filed for bankruptcy Their markets have peaked They haven't changed their ways Let's take these criticisms one by one: They Are Cyclical Companies Yes, they are cyclical. Every company is cyclical. Every industry is cyclical. Some more than others, but not every company is immune from swings in the market. Banks used to be 'non-cyclical' leader, not anymore. Airline stocks are just as cyclical as auto stocks, yet they are trading at multiples greater than the auto industry. Why? And what accounts for the irrational stock price for Tesla (TSLA)? At least Ford (F) and General Motors (GM) make money and have positive cash flows. In fact, both companies have a net positive cash position. They have more cash on hand than liabilities. Auto sales in the United States hit a record 17.5 million vehicles in 2015. During the Great Recession, Ford (F) and General Motors (GM) cut their break even points to 10 million vehicles per year. Anything above an annual U.S. volume of 10 million vehicles is profit. And what a profit they make. Sales of Ford's F-150 continues to be the best-selling vehicle in the United States for over 30 years. Detroit 3 Have Lost 3.5 million in Sales Since 2000 Automotive News reports General Motors (GM), Ford (F) and Chrysler (FCA) have lost a combined 3.5 million vehicles sales since 2000. So how can they be making more money? Two big reasons – Fleet Sales and the UAW. Fleet Sales The Detroit 3 used to own car rental companies to keep their factories running. Ford owned Hertz (HTZ), General Motors owned all of National Car Rental and 29 percent of Avis, and Chrysler, the forerunner to Fiat Chrysler (FCA), used to own Thrifty Car Rental and Dollar Rent-A-Car. The Detroit 3 owned these rental companies to have a place to sell their bad product and keep their factories running. These were low margin sales, and in many cases, were money losers for the Detroit 3. They no longer own auto rental companies.
Car companies used to cook up sales with recipe books
Fri, 08 Aug 2014The evolution of automotive marketing has undergone a number of strange phases. Few, though, match the strangeness of the 1930s to 1950s, when automotive marketers turned to cookbooks as a means of promoting their vehicles. Yes, cookbooks. We can't make this stuff up, folks.
This bizarre trend led to General Motors distributing cookbooks under the guise of its then-subsidiary Frigidaire. Ford, meanwhile, offered a compilation of recipes from Ford Credit Employees (shown above). The cookbook-craze wasn't limited to domestic manufacturers, though. As The Detroit News discovered, both Rolls-Royce and Volkswagen got in on the trend, although not until the 1970s.
The News has the full story on this strange bit of marketing. Head over and take a look.
Has the 2015 Ford Mustang gained hundreds of pounds?
Sun, 01 Jun 2014Automakers face competing interests when it comes to developing a new generation of vehicle. On the one hand, companies want to build their cars to be safer and better handling, with more equipment and maybe even larger dimensions over the model it's replacing. On the other hand, they strive to keep weight down to the benefit of both performance and fuel consumption. Usually something has to give, and in the case of the new 2015 Ford Mustang, those efforts may have resulted in a weight penalty of two or three hundred pounds.
This according to Blue Oval modifier Steeda Autosports, which states that "the 2015 Mustang ended up gaining 200-300 pounds in this remake". Despite the Mustang not being on the market yet, it would appear the leading Ford aftermarketer has been given early access to the 2015 model to help jumpstart its tuning efforts (a rather common development among trusted tuners). If Steeda's assertion is accurate, that would make the challenge of getting the new pony car up to speed for both Ford and aftermarket customizers like Steeda that much greater.
We're waiting for official word from Ford on the veracity of Steeda's claim, but if true, it's bound to be a bit of disappointing news for legions of Blue Oval performance enthusiasts. Watch this space for more.
