Yes this car does have a MOPAR HEMI in it!!!!!! Car is in EXCELLENT Condition! It has just received a total makeover! Fresh Black base clear paint job! Car was originally white. All the door jambs, trunk and under hood were painted, along with the wheels and front push bar! New windshield and wiper blades, new battery, new fuel pump, new brakes front and rear, new tires! Powering this beast is a 2004 Dodge 5.7 HEMI mated to the dodge 5 speed automatic transmission. Car was professionally built! Motor and tranny had 20,000 miles on them when they were installed, now they have just over 60,000 miles on them. Motor was hopped up before installation and it features fully ported and polished heads, a comp cams camshaft, custom headers, 2 1/2 inch exhaust with flowmaster style mufflers and stainless tips. Fresh air induction, as well as a hypertech chip. Street and performance wiring harness. Car runs and drives excellent. Interior is also in excellent condition. All factory gauges work, air blows ice cold, heater blows hot! Power windows, power locks and power drivers seat. I've had an absolute blast with this car! Car was a lot of fun with the stock motor, but is really fun with the HEMI in it! Now it runs as it should, being a police interceptor!!! Have drove this car for 40,000 miles with the HEMI in it, so it is reliable!! Have made many cross country trips in it and have all the confidence in the world in it!! Rear axle has had new bearings also. Ok a little more about this build, I spent just over $5000.00 on the motor swap, the wiring harness was $900 which is for a streetrod. So if you wreck the car and want to swap the drivetrain in something else this wiring harness makes it a breeze. The paint job is a $4000.00 value, I own a custom car shop, so it is not a typical driver paint job, it's nice! I built this car for fun!!! I like to speed down the hi-way, and this car keeps you off the radar as cops and hi-po's don't pay attention to it, they think it is one of theirs!! I've put 70k miles on this thing and have made hi speed runs everywhere across the country and have only been pulled over 1 time, and that was at nite, and I didn't get a ticket!!! It's fun messing with the public as they think you are a cop, they slow down and get out of your way when you're ripping down the hi-way!! Which is a lot of fun!! I've owned every Mopar muscle car, as well as mustang gt's, Porsche's, a pair of Viper GTS's, and have had more fun in this car than all those just because of things I've got away with that I couldn't with the others. It's nice to be incognito!!! This thing also gets 22mpg on the hi-way going 80+ mph, 65 gets around 18-20. Do you like smoking the tires? Well I've set this up with my prostock burn out tire annihilator system, put it in low, push the button on the dash and stand on the gas and watch the tires go up in flames!! It's COOL!!!! Driving this thing is like having a free pass to haul a$$!!!!! |

Consumer Reports no longer recommends Honda Civic
Mon, Oct 24 2016Consumer Reports annual Car Reliability Survey is out, and yes, there are some big surprises. First and foremost? The venerable publication no longer recommends the Honda Civic. In fact, aside from the walking-dead CR-Z and limited-release Clarity fuel-cell car, the Civic is the only Honda to miss out on CR's prestigious nod. At the opposite end there's a surprise as well – Toyota and Lexus remain the most reliable brands on the market, but Buick cracked the top three. That's up from seventh last year, and the first time for an American brand to stand on the Consumer Reports podium. Mazda's entire lineup earned Recommended checks as well. Consumer Reports dinged the Civic for its "infuriating" touch-screen radio, lack of driver lumbar adjustability, the limited selection of cars on dealer lots fitted with Honda's popular Sensing system, and the company's decision to offer LaneWatch instead of a full-tilt blind-spot monitoring system. Its score? A lowly 58. The Civic isn't the only surprise drop from CR's Recommended ranks. The Audi A3, Ford F-150, Subaru WRX/STI, and Volkswagen Jetta, GTI, and Passat all lost the Consumer Reports' checkmark. On the flipside, a number of popular vehicles graduated to the Recommended ranks, including the BMW X5, Chevrolet Camaro, Corvette, and Cruze, Hyundai Santa Fe, Porsche Macan, and Tesla Model S. Perhaps the biggest surprise is the hilariously recall-prone Ford Escape getting a Recommended check – considering the popularity of Ford's small crossover, this is likely a coup for the brand, as it puts the Escape on a level playing field with the Recommended Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Nissan Rogue. While Ford is probably happy to see CR promote the Escape, the list wasn't as kind for every brand. For example, of the entire Fiat Chrysler Automobiles catalog, the ancient Chrysler 300 was the only car to score a check – there wasn't a single Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Maserati, or Ram on the list. That hurts. FCA isn't alone at the low end, either. GMC, Jaguar Land Rover, Mini, and Mitsubishi don't have a vehicle on CR's list between them, while brands like Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Nissan, Lincoln, Infiniti, and Cadillac only have a few models each. For EV drivers, realities may dampen the electric elation
Mon, Feb 20 2023The Atlantic, a decades-old monthly journal well-regarded for its intelligent essays on international news, American politics and cultural happenings, recently turned its attention to the car world. A piece that ran in The Atlantic in October examined the excesses of the GMC Hummer EV for compromising safety. And now in its latest edition, the magazine ran a compelling story about the challenges of driving an electric vehicle and how those experiences “mythologize the car as the great equalizer.” Titled “The Inconvenient Truth About Electric Vehicles,” the story addresses the economics of EVs, the stresses related to range anxiety, the social effects of owning an electric car — as in, affording one — and the overarching need for places to recharge that car. Basically, author Andrew Moseman says that EV life isn't so rosy: “On the eve of the long-promised electric-vehicle revolution, the myth is due for an update. Americans who take the plunge and buy their first EV will find a lot to love Â… they may also find that electric-vehicle ownership upends notions about driving, cost, and freedom, including how much car your money can buy. "No one spends an extra $5,000 to get a bigger gas tank in a Honda Civic, but with an EV, economic status is suddenly more connected to how much of the world you get to see — and how stressed out or annoyed youÂ’ll feel along the way.” Moseman charts how a basic Ford F-150 Lightning electric truck might start at $55,000, but an extended-range battery, which stretches the distance on a charge from 230 miles to 320, “raises the cost to at least $80,000. The trend holds true with all-electric brands such as Tesla, Rivian, and Lucid, and for many electric offerings from legacy automakers. The bigger battery option can add a four- or five-figure bump to an already accelerating sticker price.” As for the charging issue, the author details his anxiety driving a Telsa in Death Valley, with no charging stations in sight. “For those who never leave the comfort of the city, these concerns sound negligible," he says. "But so many of us want our cars to do everything, go everywhere, ferry us to the boundless life we imagine (or the one weÂ’re promised in car commercials),” he writes. His conclusions may raise some hackles among those of us who value automotive independence — not to mention fun — over practicalities.
Ford brings FPV Falcon production in house [w/video]
Thu, 21 Feb 2013For the first time since 1976, Ford of Australia is bringing the assembly of its stonking Ford Performance Vehicle line back in-house to the company's Broadmeadows and Geelong facilities. That's a point of pride for FPV, which builds high-performance versions of the Australian Falcon model like the F6, GS and the heroic GT seen here.
In the video below, we hear FPV employees talking in hushed tones about the important legacy that cars like the GT have for Australian gearheads of all stripes, and how proud they are to say that hand-built machines like this GT R-Spec with its Boss 355 engine are now rolling out of their home base. For our part, we're just dying to drive this version of the Coyote V8; the engine is rocking a "Miami" supercharger from Harrop and makes some 450 horsepower.
