V8 FLEX SOHC Naturally Aspirated, mileage: 91,660 miles This vehicle is surplus property of the Village Of La Grange and MUST be sold according to Illinois law; it MUST be sold in an auction-type setting such as eBay. There is NO Buy-It-Now option. We will NOT accept any trades for this vehicle. The vehicle is being sold AS IS and with NO existing warranty; neither express nor implied. All sales are FINAL and NO returns will be accepted and price adjustments given. The vehicle will be sold to the highest bidder after the starting price has been satisfied. There is NO reserve on this vehicle-the starting price is BOTTOM LINE what we will accept for this vehicle-DO NOT MAKE AN OFFER! Again, this vehicle has 91,660 original miles. The vehicle has no notable body damage or rust-just normal wear-n-tear scratches, dings, and dents-nothing major! The vehicle has power locks, windows, mirrors, trunk release, power driver's seat lumbar/recline, power cut-off switch (push switch and remove ignition key and car will stay on, however, car cannot be placed in drive and stolen), rear defrost, dome light, interior lights, and spotlight ALL IN GOOD FUNCTIONING CONDITION. The vehicle also has manual tilt steering wheel, power adjustable gas pedal, AM/FM stereo, and air conditioning all in good working order. The vehicle is equipped with cruise control, however, we did not use it often, so we do not know if it works (probably works). The vehicle has driver's seat and passenger-seat air bags. Lastly, the vehicle's exterior lights, lamps, signals, wipers, defrost, etc. are all in working order. There are NO illuminated warning lights on in the dash indicating any malfunctions with the vehicle. Lastly, the vehicle's tires are in good condition (they were replaced 072013 and in good condition). The vehicle shows normal wear-n-tear regarding scratches and dings, however, there are NO major imperfections in the vehicle's body. The exterior of the roof has a couple of "plugs" from holes drilled in the roof for the light bar that was attached and removed. The police de3cals were all removed from the exterior, however, glue is very slightly visible. A good detailing should eliminate the glue from the decals left over. The interior roof liner has a smaller hole cut in between the driver and passenger seat, which once housed a police camera system, now removed. The rear removable seat (vinyl) is brand new, however dirty from being in storage-it will need to be wiped off. The front seats are in good condition with no tearing, however, they will need to be cleaned. The interior vinyl flooring is in good condition, however, again, will need a good cleaning. The following reflects the service record on the vehicle for "more major items:" Radiator replaced on 033111, A/C Condenser replaced on 041811, Blend Door Actuator & Motor Assembly replaced 050911, Cooling Fan Sender, Motor & Fan Assembly replaced 060711, Air Bag Jewel/Warning Lamp, Water Pump Assembly, and Intake Manifold/Thermostat replaced on 062411, Driver's Seat Belt Buckle Assembly replaced 112911, Manifold Intake, Gaskets, Thermostat, and Ignition Wire replaced 021712, Alternator replaced 032912, Tires, Left Inner Tie Rod Ends and Alignment completed 040912, Sway Bar Links replaced 052412, Front/Rear Brakes, Serp Belt, Right Outer Tie Rod, and Alignment completed 100212, Transmission Service/Flush completed 101812, Front Driver's Seat Rebuilt 112912, Trans Assembly, A/C Condenser replaced 042213, Blower Resistor, Air Bag Jewel/Lamp/Breaker, and Instrument Cluster replaced 051313, 4 Tires replaced on 072013, A/C Compressor, Accumulator and A/C Recharge completed 100113, Vehicle Involved In Minor Accident on 030414 (Front Passenger-Side Bumper/Headlight). The vehicle currently has an oil filter adaptor leak in which the dealer charges approx. $300.00-this repair was NOT made. The vehicle will eventually need brakes replaced-fine for now though. Lastly, we were notified this year of a safety recall on the vehicle for the steering column shaft, which we have not repaired. The paperwork will go to the winning bidder and the repair at the dealership is free. 2022 GMC Hummer EV No. 001 at Barrett-Jackson brings $2.5 million
Mon, Mar 29 2021This year's Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Ariz., played host to a bunch of the first examples of hot new cars: VIN No. 001 of the 2022 GMC Hummer EV, 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing and CT4-V Blackwing, 2021 Ford Bronco, 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 and 2021 Ram 1500 TRX. Every single one of them sold for more than six figures, with all the proceeds of nearly $5 million going to charities, but the big winner was absolutely the Hummer with a hammer price of $2.5 million. The Bronco did nicely, too, with a selling price of $1,075,000. You can see the list of the sale prices from highest to lowest of these first examples below. GMC Hummer EV: $2,500,000 Ford Bronco: $1,075,000 Ford Mustang Mach 1: $500,000 Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition: $410,000 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing: $265,000 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing: $165,000 Despite the Hummer going for $2.5 million, it wasn't the most expensive car to cross the block. That honor goes to a 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 Super Snake that was once owned by Carroll Shelby himself. It sold for $5.5 million, the same price it sold for back in 2007. Nearly as pricey as the Hummer was a restored, numbers-matching 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 that went for $2,475,000. Related video:
Thieves still love older Hondas and pickups most, says NICB [w/video]
Wed, 20 Aug 2014No one wants to have their car stolen, but a new study by the National Insurance Crime Bureau has some bad news for older Honda owners and pickup drivers. Fortunately, it has better news for drivers overall. The group is reporting that according to preliminary data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, thefts were down 3.2 percent in 2013 (versus 2012) to fewer than 700,000 cars. That's the lowest figure since 1967. That's also less than half of the peak of over 1.66 million thefts in 1991. "The drop in thefts is good news for all of us," says NICB President and CEO Joe Wehrle. "But it still amounts to a vehicle being stolen every 45 seconds and losses of over $4 billion a year."
Honda drivers might not find it such good news with older Accord and Civic models topping this year's theft study. Toyota and Dodge can't really celebrate, either, with two models each on the list, as well. Overall, this year's list was split evenly between foreign and domestic models, which were mostly pickups.
The 10 most likely vehicles to be stolen in 2013 were:
The USPS needs 180,000 new delivery vehicles, automakers gearing up to bid
Wed, Feb 18 2015Winning the New York City Taxi of Tomorrow tender was a huge prize for Nissan, even though the company is still working through the process of claiming its prize. The United States Postal Service has begun the process to take bids for a new delivery vehicle to replace the all-too-familiar Grumman Long Life Vehicle, and that will be a much larger plum for the automaker who wins it, perhaps worth more than six billion dollars. The Grumman LLV is an aluminum body covering a Chevrolet S-10 pickup chassis and General Motors' Iron Duke four-cylinder engine. The USPS bought them from 1987 to 1994, and the 163,000 of them still in service are a monumental drain on postal resources: they get roughly ten miles to the gallon instead of the quoted 16 mpg, drink up more than $530 million in fuel each year, and their constant repair needs like the balky sliding door and leaky windshields have led the service to increase the annual maintenance budget from $100 million to $500 million. A seat belt is about as modern as it gets for safety technology, and the USPS says that assuming things stay the same, it can't afford to run them beyond 2017. Last year it put out two triage requests for proposals seeking 10,000 new chassis and drivetrains for the Grumman and 10,000 new vehicles. The LLV is also too small for the modern mail system in which package delivery is growing and letter delivery is declining. The service says it doesn't have a fixed idea of the ideal "next-generation delivery vehicles," but it listed a number of requirements in its initial request and is open to any proposal. Carriers have some suggestions, though, saying they want better cupholders, sun visors that they can stuff letters behind, a driver's compartment free of slits that can swallow mail, and a backup camera. The request for information sent to automakers pegs the tender at 180,000 vehicles that would cost between $25,000 and $35,000 apiece, and it will hold a conference on February 18 to answer questions about the contract. GM is the only domestic maker to avow an interest, while Ford and Fiat-Chrysler have remained cagey. Yet with a possible $6.3 billion up for grabs and some new vans for sale that would be advertised on every block in the country, we have a feeling everyone will be listening closely come February 18. We also have a feeling the LeMons series is going to be flooded with Grummans come 2017. News Source: Wall Street Journal, Automotive News - sub.
