Selling my 2006 Crown Vic P71 police package . I have maintained it using only Motorcraft parts and oil.  I have owned it for 3 years . It has 3185 idling hours and 119.404 miles.  I have serviced it on time every 3-4 months even though the mileage was low.  It drives perfect, no pulling, no vibrations. It starts right up and there is no noises, no leaks, no fumes, no check engine lights. NJ smog inspection is current. I have added tinted windows, center console compartment with cup holders and storage, removable cd/radio player with ipod connector, Avital car alarm with remote start which comes handy in summer and winter. Also added  a WHELEN remote siren unit with 8 LED strobe lights (6 on rear tail lights,2 on front corner lights)  Whelen high beam flasher , interior rear deck 6 led strobe light unit and also a Soundoff Predator 2 DUAL LED strobe windshield light (will be disconected if not law enforcement/fire/ems employee, as per ebay rules). Since I have had it I have changed a transmission oil hose, antifreeze hose, front brakes last year(pads and new rotors),serpentine belt, ac drier, spark plugs and last week a new Motorcraft battery. Tires have about 50% tread left.  Car has minor scratches, small crack on front and rear bumper.  Has paint peel on bumper and small spot on roof. Small holes on dash where police equipment was once mounted. Front driver seat has normal wear and tear common for the age and use. Passenger seat looks brand new. Rear seat is also in great condition.  Rear trunk is clean and spare tire is new.  Car has power windows, power locks, power heated mirrors, tilt wheel, cruise control, ice cold AC , heat and all the p71 upgrades and lots of power.    Thanks for looking and you can contact me at (908)481-1317.  Car is in Kenilworth,Nj 07033. Ford Explorer Jackson Pollock Edition results in trip to hospital

Tue, 02 Jul 2013

Among the many useful pieces of driving advice we've taken to heart over the years, "Safely secure all cargo" is etched pretty high on our personal stone tablets. We've had a couple of frustrating moments over the years (numerous wonky cupholders and too-tall lidded cups; a radar detector that released its suction cups and dashed itself below the dashboard, etc.), but never anything like the scene above.
These photos above come courtesy of the Washington State Patrol, and they show the unfortunate aftermath of a driver, his dog, and his Ford Explorer after it crashed near the town of Belfair last week. According to reports, the man was schlepping five-gallon containers of paint inside his vehicle when he was involved in an unexplained accident. It's not clear what triggered the crash, but the impromptu abstract painting covered the whole of the interior, including the driver and his faithful companion.
The man was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries, and his dog was cleaned and later taken to a humane society.

Ford S-Max Concept proves minivans aren't always minivans [w/video]

Tue, 10 Sep 2013

Ford's latest don't-call-it-a-minivan is called the S-Max Concept, and it's a looker. As you can see, the conceptual overgrown hatch makes good use of Ford's latest design language, especially at the very front of the S-Max, which bears a striking resemblance to production models that include the Focus, C-Max and Fusion.
Powering the S-Max Concept is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine, and while Ford doesn't actually list power figures for the concept, previous estimates put the mill at 133 kW of power (about 178 horsepower) and 240 Nm of torque (about 177 pound-feet). Inside, there's room for seven passengers and at least some of their luggage.
As you'd expect, the S-Max is loaded up with all of Ford's latest infotainment technology, including Sync and MyFordTouch. More interestingly, there are also onboard heart and blood glucose monitors that we doubt will be seeing the light of production anytime soon. On that topic, don't expect to see any S-Max-shaped vehicles hitting the US market from Ford, either. Scroll down below for the press release, but not before checking out the high-res image gallery above.

Ford rolls out diesel Focus ST at Goodwood [w/poll]

Sun, 29 Jun 2014

If you're in the market for a hot hatch, there are some excellent choices at your disposal - especially if you live in Europe. But if you want a diesel, well, your choices become rather more limited. Volkswagen tends to that niche market with the Golf GTD (essentially an oil-burning version of the GTI available Stateside), but that's about the extent of it. The pleas of those looking for more diesel-burning hot hatch choices haven't fallen on deaf ears at Ford, with the Blue Oval not only rolling out a facelifted gas-powered Focus ST at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend, but also a new diesel version as well.
The diesel Focus ST (which we hope and pray isn't marketed as the STD) packs a 2.0-liter turbodiesel four producing 182 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque to propel the oil-burning hot hatch to 62 in 8.1 seconds en route to a top speed of 135 miles per hour. With less power and only slightly more torque, that makes the diesel Focus ST considerably slower than the gasoline one, which packs 252 hp and 270 lb-ft, runs to 62 in 6.5 seconds and tops out at 154 mph, but (in a testament to how far particulate filters have come) the diesel model cuts carbon emissions by nearly a third compared to the petrol version and returns about 50-percent better fuel economy, which makes that much more of a difference in markets where diesel is already priced better than gasoline at the pump.
For buyers who wouldn't consider anything other than a diesel, it also represents 23-percent more power than the previous top-level diesel Focus. The VW Golf GTD, for reference, offers up 181 hp (just 1 horse less), 280 lb-ft (15 fewer torques) but is somehow estimated to reach 60 in a considerably fleeter 7.4 seconds.
