ie Bauer did gangbuster business in the late '80s and early '90s with their upscale off-road machines, and none wore the two-tone paint better than the full-sized Bronco. While most were green, this lovely burgundy-over-tan Bronco is downright gorgeous to look at and it's hard to believe that these went out of production nearly two decades ago. I mean, this sucker's in incredible condition! The chrome bumper looks great, the grille and aero headlights are sharp, and the tan roof adds just the right contrast to work with the lower rocker moldings and pinstripe. Someone has thoughtfully added chrome tubular steps on each side to make it a little easier to climb into the tall 4x4, but other than that it remains quite stock.
Up for auction is an extra clean miraculously maintained 1995 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer with 134,000K adult driven miles. This truck is rust free and in great condition. Equipped with the original 5.0L this Bronco also was optioned with the Eddie Bauer trim package, electric windows, electric locks, tilt wheel, 4X4, and a factory Tachometer.

These trucks are becoming extremely difficult to find and becoming more collectable by the day.

The A/C blows cold and works great. This Bronco runs and drives well. It has great tires all the way around and fresh brakes.

All windows are functional and there is no rust found in the quarter panels or tailgate. The undercarriage is solid and in very good shape. This truck is ready for work or for your collection, it also comes with the matching painted hard top.

The interior is another very pleasant surprise, offering plush cloth buckets and lots of space for five. Eddie Bauer insisted on upscale appointments in the top-of-the-line models, and the fabric chosen here is tasteful and durable, showing minimal wear over the past 20 or so years. Nice carpets with monogrammed floor mats give it a plus feel, and as the most expensive of the Ford SUVs, this Bronco sports just about every feature in the book: power windows and locks, A/C, cruise control, and power lumbar support in the front seats. A wide center console offers plenty of storage as well as a handy place to put your coffe,e and the dash is one of the more car-like features of this big truck. A full array of big, legible gauges are in front of the driver, with the climate controls and AM/FM/cassette stereo waaaaay over there in the center of the dash. The nicely appointed back seat looks barely used, and the cargo bay is positively massive, especially with the spare tire living outside on a swing-away rack, and a power rear window there for convenience.

Ford's erstwhile 302 cubic inch V8 is a great choice to move all this sheetmetal, providing plenty of low-end torque that doesn't feel strained. Despite a vast aftermarket for the venerable 5.0, this one remains quite stock, from the long intake hoses from the remote air filter, to the intake that was specifically designed to bolster the torque curve. The engine bay is as clean as the rest of the truck, and if it's ever seen anything rougher than a gravel driveway, I'd be surprised. With a 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission and a 2-speed transfer case, this truck is equally happy at highway speeds, or crawling at barely a walking pace, and the suspension is built for moderate off-roading. Even the exhaust system is quite stock, offering a smooth hum instead of V8 horsepower, but that's the point of the Eddie Bauer model. Handsome factory aluminum wheels are bright and shiny, wearing 31x10.50-15 Goodyear Wrangler RT/S radials.

If you grew up in the '80s, you know this is a cool truck, and you just won't find more luxurious go-anywhere transportation for less cash than this. Call today

Autoblog Technology of the Year Award Special | Autoblog Podcast #758

Thu, Dec 1 2022

This episode of the Autoblog Podcast features Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore, Road Test Editor Zac Palmer and Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski. The trio begin by discussing the 2022 Technology of the Year award. Ford's Onboard Scales and Smart Hitch hauling/towing tech as tested in the F-150 Lightning won this year. Why the Ford won, how testing went down and Ford's competition — including the GMC Hummer EV and Genesis GV60 — are discussed. After diving through the Technology of the Year award testing, the three take on this week's news. A mysterious vehicle based on the Corvette (that isn't a Corvette) is supposedly on its way. Audi is giving us "Performance" versions of the RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback. Plus, we discuss a recent study that provides data for the 10 longest lasting vehicles on the road today. After the news, the crew dive into the cars they've been driving this week. Greg's been behind the wheel of a Nissan Pathfinder, while Jeremy and Zac have been driving some plug-in hybrids, including the Lexus NX 450h+ and Autoblog's long-term BMW 330e xDrive. Ford Fiesta rally car warms up in Sweden

Tue, 18 Mar 2014

Rallycross is seeing a sudden surge in popularity with two series bringing the racing to the US and Europe. The Ford OMSE team is competing in both championships this season, and it saw no reason not to hold practice with a highly modified Fiesta in the snow of Northern Sweden. It brought together Andreas Bakkerud from the European-focused FIA World Rallycross Championship and Patrik Sandell from the North American-focused Global Rallycross series for some training and fun. They certainly appear to be enjoying themselves, too, with some lovely pirouettes in the powder.
If you're unfamiliar with rallycross, the discipline combines the best of rallying and circuit racing. Drivers (with no co-drivers) race rally cars over a circuit that generally mixes dirt and asphalt, and unlike traditional rallying, multiple cars compete side-by-side at once. Even better, it's often a very two-fisted form of motorsports with lots of car-to-car contact. Global Rallycross and World Rallycross will both kick off their seasons in May. With spring on the way, scroll down to watch the Fiesta kick up some of the last snow drifts of the year.

Ford paying $750 million just to close plant in Belgium

Thu, 21 Mar 2013

According to a report from Reuters, Ford is shelling out $750 million in a severance deal that will see the automaker close its facility in Genk, Belgium. The automaker reached this deal with the 4,000 hourly workers employed at the plant last week, which means the company will pay out an average of $187,500 per worker.
Ford is still negotiating with the 300 salaried workers at the factory, which currently produces the Mondeo sedan. All told, Ford expects to lose around $2 billion in Europe thanks in no small part to the region's ongoing economic downturn, and two more plants are scheduled to be shut down in Europe this year. The company will log its $750 million payout under "special items" for this quarter.
As you may recall, Ford took a similar path in the US back in 2009 when the domestic market took a spill. Back then, the company shelled out around $50,000 per employee with at least one year of experience, plus either $25,000 toward a new car or an extra cash payment of $20,000. It would seem the cost of closing plants in Belgium is a much harder pill to swallow than in the States...
