The Bronco was owned by ex wife the past few years. She gave it our son for a vehicle. So, I put all new tires on it, had the front brakes replaced, front wheel bearings serviced, trail arm bushing replaced and the left upper and lower ball joints with an alignment. Did some other things to get it good shape for him... Over $1700 invested in the past 2 months...
We have used it a couple of months and loved it! However.. He took it out to our friends farm and slipped the rear end in a hole just deep enough that he could not get it out. After pulling him out, it was noticed that the front of the transmission is leaking pretty good. It still runs fine and drives, but we parked it immediately as not to do any further damage. Best case scenario is you pull the transmission out, replace the front seal and have the transmission and cooler flushed and all is good. Worst case scenario is it will need a different transmission. I really can't say which. So, this would be good if you are able to handle some mechanical work. Otherwise, the AC is cold, it has PW PL PS and an am/fm cd stereo. Worst case scenario it is probably worth the price if you just take the wheels and tires off and salvage the rest! But, I do think it is way too good for that! The big dune jump and the damage done
Mon, 20 May 2013The Silver Lake sand dunes see their fair share of well-built trophy trucks executing impressive jumps. Drivers build insane pieces of machinery for the express purpose of sailing through the air like mad men and women.
Mike Higgins is no stranger to the area. His heavily modified Ford trophy truck has gone flying through the sky on more than one occasion, but he recently bit off more than he could chew. After hitting a particularly lofty dune, Higgins went airborne for a ridiculous 180 feet before becoming intimately familiar with the finer points of gravity.
While Higgins nailed the jump, his landing fell short of wowing the judges. The impact very nearly broke his truck in two. Despite the mechanical mayhem, the driver walked away without a scratch, proving that occasionally miracles really do happen. You can check out the jump and the subsequent destruction below for yourself. Be warned: there's a fair bit of foul language.
Plethora of 2015 Ford F-150 customs runs the gamut at SEMA
Wed, 05 Nov 2014
Of Ford's customized trucks, two feature the name of famous Ford racers.
Of all the OEMs making appearances at the 2014 SEMA show, Ford owns arguably the most significant group of vehicles, thanks to its new 2015 F-150 and Mustang. While you can look for our Mustang coverage soon, we've managed to sneak out and get snaps of some of a few of the F-150s on display at the company's sprawling, 20,000-square-foot display (look for even more aftermarket F-150 goodness in the coming days).
Enterprise customer billed $47k for Mustang stolen from rental lot
Sun, 05 Jan 2014A weekend rental of a Ford Mustang GT Convertible sounds like a nice, relaxing way to burn some gas, but one Nova Scotia woman's two-day rental is turning into a months-long headache. In early October, Kristen Cockerill picked up the Mustang from Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and she returned it the following day as stipulated by the rental contract. Unfortunately, she dropped the car off on a Sunday - a day on which the particular Enterprise office is closed - and the car ended up being stolen overnight.
Now, two months later, CBC reports that Cockerill received a bill from Enterprise for the full replacement of the car totaling $47,271 (a base 2014 Mustang GT Convertible currently costs $40,349 in Canada). As it turns out, the fine print in the contract says that the renter is responsible for cars dropped off after hours until it can be inspected the next business day - this is also reflected on the key drop seen in the news report video, which states "vehicles returned after hours are the responsibility of the renter until inspected on the next business day."
It's not clear how much, if any, of that amount Cockerhill will be responsible for once her insurance company gets involved, but if the insurance company refuses to pay, Enterprise will bill the amount to the credit card she provided during her rental. While this ordeal is far over for Cockerhill, it's a good reminder for the rest of us to always read the fine print.
