OK guys, this is an ex-mud racer turned sand toy (well almost).  I have owned it for 18 or 19 years.  It was originally campaigned as a mud racer from the early 80's to about '89 or '90.  I purchased it and set to work rebuilding and further modifying it to suit the sand drag racing and duning use that I had in mind.  I have countless hours and cash invested in this little truck and have had it running but never drove it.  The motor is a de-stroked (289 high nickel crank) 302 with aluminum rods, forged pistons, Lunati cam and lifters, Weiand tunnel ram, two Holleys etc, etc.  The trans is a built C4 with a full manual valve body and an 8" convertor.  I have a pair of 16.50 paddles and a pair of 20.00 paddles that are mounted on lightweight steel wheels also.  The motor was freshened up many years ago and ran for cam break-in only.  It has been oiled down and turned over by hand a couple of times a year since.  It  is not currently ready to run and I am not going to get it running to sell.  The paint was done in the mid 80's and still looks great today!  Check out all the airbrush work, even the grill and lights plus the reaper scenes.  The truck does need a few things to make it complete some of which are shifter and cable, wiring harness built (minimal in a race car), harnesses (they would be out of date if I had them anyway), gauges installed, fuel pump, etc.  Most of the hard work has been done.

This will make someone a great toy with fairly minimal work left to do.  I have set a reasonable reserve and will let the auction run it's course.  I have described the Bronco fairly and as such am selling it as-is, where-is with no warranty expressed or implied.  I take my auctions seriously, please give me the courtesy of doing the same.

Thanks

Ford reveals new rapid prototyping and low-volume production techniques [w/video]

Mon, 08 Jul 2013

It's called "F3T," and that stands for Ford Free-form Fabrication Technology. The process that The Blue Oval has developed means being able to sidestep the weeks-long process of tool-and-die making when engineers want to construct a new part, allowing them to fabricate a three-dimensional part from a two-dimensional sheet of metal in just hours.
While F3T is being developed it is limited to "low-volume prototyping or even low-volume niche vehicles," but the next step is to evaluate it for use in Ford's global manufacturing facilities. You can find out more about it in the video and the press release below.

Ford highlights new F-650 and F-750 with full-size Tonka show truck [w/videos]

Thu, Mar 5 2015

Who among us hasn't been tempted by the prospect of buying a big yellow truck and painting the name Tonka along the side? Well apparently there were some folks over at Ford who were just as tempted, only they actually had the means to make that childhood fantasy a reality in the form of the truck you see here. Revealed at the NTEA Work Truck Show this week in Indianapolis, this Tonka show truck stands nearly 10 feet tall. It's painted bright yellow, just like the one you played with in the sand box (and probably still would given the opportunity and maybe no one else looking) and has a blacked-out nose treatment and special graphics. As you can see, it's also equipped with a working dump bed, and has a truly staggering 33,000-pound gross vehicle weight rating, built to showcase the Blue Oval's new line of medium duty trucks. Of course "medium duty" is a relative term, and the new F-750 is clearly a heavier piece of machinery than the company's own Super Duty pickups, but they're lighter-duty than a proper big rig. The new 2016 Ford F-650 and F-750 are just as tough as the models they replace, but they're now quieter and more comfortable to use. In fact, Ford says its 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 diesel is now 25-percent quieter inside the cabin at highway speeds, 45-percent quieter at idle and 35-percent quieter standing outside in front of the grille. Ford notes that it's the only medium-duty truck manufacturer that makes its own engines and transmissions. That Power Stroke diesel comes with 270 horsepower and 675 pound-feet of torque as standard, but can be upgraded to 300 hp and 700 lb-ft or all the way up to 330 hp and 725 lb-ft. Commercial buyers will also be able to choose between Regular, Super and Crew Cab models with a straight-frame, dock-height or tractor-towing frames, meaning that whatever it is you've got to haul, chances are high that the new Ford F-650 and F-750 can be set up to get the job done.

Ford Focus ST diesel estate in track showdown with Focus ST hatch

Sun, Jan 18 2015

Diesel hot hatches are still a concept that's gaining ground. Obviously, there are none for sale in the US, but European buyers have the choice of at least the Volkswagen Golf GTD and Ford Focus ST Diesel. What better way to find out how the new, high-performance oil-burner really stacks up than for Ford to stage a race against the gasoline-fueled Focus ST? On paper, the ST Diesel is at a big performance detriment here. Its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder makes 182 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque compared to 247 hp and 266 lb-ft for the gas version in this race. However while not a factor for this race, the oil-burner does offer better fuel economy and produces less CO2, which makes a difference for European buyers. Ford skews the race results by giving the ST Diesel Estate a two-second head start for this one-lap battle around the Castle Combe Circuit. Also, this is a video from the Blue Oval, which is going to further minimize the appearance of weakness for its vehicles. Still, both STs really get to show off their strengths, and it's worth seeing how the sibling rivalry shakes out at the finish line.
