For sale is a '71 Bronco. Vehicle starts, runs and stops. Shows almost 25k in mileage but I doubt that is the actual amount. Has the 302 V8, 3spd manual on the floor, dual exhaust, original fronts seats and rear bench seat that are all in good shape. Custom made front and rear bumpers and new tires. I have a brand new wiring harness ready for installation along with a rebuild kit for the carburetor. New battery tray that needs to be installed along with fan guard and new choke cable. Also an electronic ignition kit with coil and new hardware for the removable hardtop. Vehicle needs body work and restoration. Rear outer quarter panels should probably be replaced. Under side of floor pans have surface rust but nothing to major. Both rocker panels need to be replaced. The door posts seem solid but just need to be cleaned off and repainted along with the rest of the vehicle. Bronco has the after market power brake kit, front disc brakes and power steering converstion.

Hemmings came across an interesting article from the Throwin' Wrenches blog about the intersection of ice cream, cars and civic duty in America's late 1950s. In particular, it focuses on the Mister Softee trucks, which criss-crossed neighborhoods of the eastern US serving ice cream. Looking past the ultra-durable vehicles used - heavy-duty Ford-based chassis, for what it's worth - the article delves into some deeper national-security territory.
See, Mister Softee truck owners were voluntary members of the Civil Defense, thanks to all the useful stuff (potable water, generators, freezers and fridges) that the machines carried with them for serving ice cream. They're pretty darn similar. And yet our views are oh so different.
If you guys could read the transcripts of our editors' chat room, you'd know that we're a pretty argumentative bunch. It's always good-spirited stuff (well, usually), but when we're not obsessively covering this or that, we're usually fighting about one car being better than another. We're all enthusiasts here, and our automotive tastes run the gamut from the weird and unusual to the decidedly mainstream - we all feel strongly about specific cars in a given segment. While it usually makes for good conversation, if we're passionate enough, it can turn into a tomato-throwing showdown.

Ford looks back on 50 years of the Mustang in Detroit

Ford has something special sitting in its booth here at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. In fact, it brought two special somethings in the form of the Ford Mustang 1 Concept that first saw the light of day in 1962 and the very first production Mustang that rolled off the production line in 1964.
These classic creations are sharing floor space with the brand-new 2014 Mustang in honor of the pony car's 50th Anniversary. Since Ford's latest 'Stang already made its auto show debut (at a number of locations, including Los Angeles), we think it's pretty cool that the Blue Oval did something special for its home-town show.
