I purchased the BII used in March of '09. I have done regular maintenance and replace some minor parts to keep it in good shape. Nothing major, it just works and works. Runs great, no lifter tick. Everything works like it should. I did install a new grill and light assemblies, but still have the original grill. I drive it on the weekends, and it is never anything but a blast to drive. I was going to restore it and make some upgrades (suspension, paint, interior...) but no longer have room to keep it. The paint is old, and has some rock pecks, but will still shine up nicely with the exception of a 12"x12" spot in the center of the hood that is oxidized. All the chrome looks new, as does the bumper trim. The body is straight with a few minute door dings. The engine and transmission have no issues at all. No leaks, properly serviced... I did change the plugs and replaced the alternator from a 60 amp to an 85 amp, a couple of weeks ago. The air, and all power options work properly. The interior is age worn, but still looks decent. The only things that do not function properly are: Fuel gauge, and the brake and rear anti-lock lights come on from time to time in the instrument cluster (even though there are no issues with either). Basically, it's just a good little car that's fun to drive, great on gas (20 mpg), and a good find for any collector or BII enthusiast. I don't have a long list of things I have done to it, as it simply hasn't needed anything in the last 4 years that I have had it

Evo grabs Ford's Fiesta R5 rally car by the scruff
Wed, 04 Sep 2013Evo and host Henry Catchpole were thinking of excuses reasons to borrow the bonkers Ford Fiesta R5 rally car for a day or two, when it struck them: the car is street legal. With access to the R5, some of the world's most beautiful driving roads in the English Lake Country nearby, and a handy video crewing hanging around, the plan seemed to write itself.
Based on the resulting video, it was a good plan. Without spoiling the video for you - something we can't really do in text as the best part is listening to the rally car run - Catchpole finds the Fiesta to be sublimely quick and massively satisfying. Even taking the car for a spin on a pseudo rally stage, after leaving the English countryside, does nothing but add to his assessment of the beastly little Ford. Scroll on below to see for yourself, and enjoy the ride.
Ring Brothers shows 1965-66 Mustang fastback carbon fiber body
Thu, 07 Nov 2013We covered one of Ring Brothers' more extreme SEMA builds yesterday, the De Tomaso Pantera-based ADRNLN, but if that well-executed but over-the-top Italian-American exotic is too much for you, then perhaps this Ring Brothers 1965 Ford Mustang fastback with a carbon-fiber body suits your tastes better.
What the performance-parts manufacturer is showcasing with the Mustang is the carbon-fiber body itself, which is fashioned around the 1965-66 fastback. It can be bought from the company and bonded to the skin and unibody as a do-it-yourself project, or you can take your Mustang to Ring Brothers and have the body installed there. The fenders, doors and quarter panels are two-inches wider than stock, and Ring Brothers offers a custom widebody chassis to those who want the complete package.
The show car looks sharp in person lowered on HRE wheels, and we appreciate the bare front end so we can see the supercharged V8 and front coilover suspension, though the details on those performance upgrades are slim. Also note the custom independent rear suspension setup at the rear.
Ford gives S-Max the Vignale treatment in Milan
Wed, 09 Apr 2014Ford has a bit of a history in reviving the names of old coachbuilders it has long since gobbled up and using them to distinguish its top-of-the-line models in Europe. That's what it did for years with Ghia, and after having replaced it several years ago with the Titanium trim level, now it's doing it again with Vignale.
At the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, Ford revealed the Mondeo Vignale concept in both sedan and wagon body-styles, which are set to reach production next year. But before they do, the Blue Oval automaker is at it again, applying similar upgrades to the S-Max minivan and unveiling it in concept form in Milan this week.
Setting the Vignale concept apart from any other S-Max is its Milano Grigio rose-hued silver pearlescent paint, 21-inch alloys, chrome trim and hexagonal-pattern grille. Inside it's all ultra-soft quilted leather and aluminum trim, with tablet docking stations in the back and thinner, more flexible seats than the existing production version.
