Fisker Ocean EV production to ramp up to 300 units a day in fourth quarter
Thu, Sep 7 2023Electric-vehicle startup Fisker said on Thursday it expects to increase the production of its Ocean sports utility vehicle to about 300 units a day in the fourth quarter from around 180 units. The company has a manufacturing tie-up with Canadian auto part supplier Magna International, which produces its vehicles for the European and North American markets. Vehicle deliveries are expected to accelerate in North America in September, CEO Henrik Fisker said. As of Sept. 4, Magna has manufactured 3,123 vehicles, with just under 3,000 handed over to Fisker, the company said, adding that more than 450 Fisker Oceans in the US have been either delivered to customers or are in the process of being delivered. Last month, Fisker cut its annual production target due to supply chain issues. That overshadowed a smaller-than-expected quarterly loss and its first revenue from deliveries of electric sport utility vehicles. Even as suppliers recovered from a "COVID hangover" to keep pace with Fisker's production ramp-up, one key supplier of a complicated part which needs specific skilled labor, is taking longer than expected, the company had said. Henrik Fisker teases more pictures of the EMotion EV
Thu, Apr 27 2017Luxe-green-vehicle pioneer Henrik Fisker said earlier this week that he will unveil a prototype of his EMotion electric vehicle this summer. He also reiterated that the car will have at least a 400-mile single-charge range. And he tweeted an image showing off the sedan's dihedral (also known as "butterfly") doors. The car is expected to start sales sometime next year. Fisker followed up that tweet with another noting that the car's carbon and aluminum structure will cut the EMotion's weight relative to similar vehicles by 20 percent. He also touted the vehicle's "extreme low hood," which will certainly help aerodynamics as well as the car's sportiness. Fisker started teasing images last fall, subsequently noting that the car will have a top speed of 161 miles per hour and adding that the car will be roomier than its sleek profile would suggest. As for the unveiling timetable, the EMotion's debut as a prototype would take place about a month after Tesla's planning to start deliveries of its Model 3. A cool summer indeed. Fisker is better known among green-car aficionados as the founder of Fisker Automotive. That company made the high-end extended-range plug-in vehicle Karma, which was favored by such luminaries as Leonardo DiCaprio and CeeLo Green. After the company went bankrupt in 2013, its assets were acquired by China-based Wanxiang, and the company has been relaunched as Karma. That automaker's four-door Revero extended-range plug-in, which is estimated to be able to go as far as 50 miles on electricity alone, is also scheduled to debut this year, with an MSRP of about $130,000. Karma Revero refresh spied with carryover Fisker interior
Tue, Mar 13 2018The Karma Revero debuted last year, rising from the ashes of the Fisker Karma. Really, the Revero was little more than a Fisker with a fresh badge. As charming as the mustachioed face may be, it didn't do anything to set the car apart. A much-needed refresh is on the way, though how much it changes remains to be seen. Based on these spy photos, it doesn't look like much will change between the A and C-pillars. That goes for the interior, too. This might come as a bit of a disappointment, as the car has a slick interior design, but it sacrifices a lot in terms of ergonomics and space. On the outside, the Revero will get new front and rear fascias with new lighting and a longer hood. Don't expect too many changes to the powertrain. The GM-sourced turbo inline-four is paired with electric motors for a healthy 403 horsepower and 981 pound-feet of torque, though the sheer size and weight of the Revero means it's not particularly fast. Rumors suggest that the next Karma model, the Atlantic, will ditch the GM powertrain all together. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.
