Ferrari LaFerrari Spider reportedly debuts privately

If the Porsche 918 Spyder didn't fulfill your dream of open top motoring in a hybrid hypercar, look for Ferrari to publicly debut a topless version of the LaFerrari (standard version above) in the near future. The Facebook page for Automotive Passion (D. Benoit) asserts the LaFerrari Spider is finally on the way and backs up the claim with a photo of a carbon-fiber box that bears the vehicle's sharp silhouette (below). Motor1 claims that Ferrari plans to build 150 to 200 examples of the LaFerrari Spider, which is less than half of the 499 coupes, and customers already snapped them all up. The Prancing Horse is reportedly charging a hefty premium over the hardtop's $1.4-million price tag for the droptop. Given the coupe's sales success, we are surprised Ferrari didn't take the LaFerrari's roof off even sooner, and rumors about the Spider go back to at least 2014. The removable top might add a few pounds, but the 949-horsepower 6.3-liter hybrid V12 should still be plenty to hustle the hypercar around. Ferrari debuted the LaFerrari Spider at a private event, according to Motor1. Showing the hypercar suggests development in nearing completion, so expect a public debut and official info sometime this year. Ferrari 250 GTO heading to The Quail with no reserve

It's not every day that a Ferrari 250 GTO changes hands. It is, after all, one of the most highly coveted cars ever made, and there were only 39 of them built in the first place. So when one goes up for sale, it tends to fetch millions. Tens of millions, actually, and the prices keep escalating.
Throughout most of the 1980s they were trading hands for six figures. In 1989 one sold for $10 million. A few months later, $13 million. Prices fluctuated in the 90s, but by 2012, one sold for a whopping $35 million, eclipsed the following year at $52 million. Nobody knows what the next one will sell for, but we're about to find out.
That's because Bonhams has got one consigned for its upcoming auction at the Quail Lodge during Monterey weekend next month. And it's offering it without reserve, meaning that it could sell for the opening bid (however unlikely), it could break the previous record or it could land anywhere in between or beyond.

Ferrari F50s duel in world's most improbable tug-of-war

If it wasn't obscene enough to go off-roading in a Rolls-Royce Phantom or rally driving a Ferrari Enzo, the Tax The Rich crew has gotten its hands on a pair of ultra-rare Ferrari F50 models to perform a tug-of-war battle, which we usually see reserved for pickup trucks. Only 349 F50s were ever built, but this video pits two of them against each other by attaching a rope to the front ends, throwing the shifter into reverse and punching the throttle.
