Ferrari to list stock on Italian exchange
Mon, Nov 23 2015Ferrari announced Monday it will list its stock on the Mercato Telematico Azionario – the main section of the Borsa Italia stock exchange in Milan. The news comes a little over a month after the exotic automaker launched its initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange. The company's stock listings are the culmination of a long process that dates to the merger of Fiat and Chrysler, if not earlier. Once the two auto giants came together, they merged their brand portfolio under one umbrella, incorporating the Dodge, Ram, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati brands, as well as Mopar, Lancia, Fiat Professional, and the Fiat and Chrysler brands themselves. Ferrari, however, was deemed a separate entity, even after FCA chief Sergio Marchionne wrested control of the Maranello-based outfit from longtime chairman Luca di Montezemolo. Almost exactly one year after FCA launched its IPO on the NYSE, Ferrari did the same. Nine percent of its common shares were listed under the symbol RACE. Another one percent was offered to the listing's underwriters. Ten percent remains in the hands of Enzo Ferrari's family, led by his son and company vice-chairman Piero Ferrari. And the remaining 80 percent will be distributed among FCA's shareholders. FERRARI APPLIES TO LIST SHARES ON MTA Ferrari N.V. (NYSE: RACE) and FE New N.V.1 announced today the filing of the application for the listing, in connection with the planned separation of Ferrari N.V. from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V., of the common shares of Ferrari on the Mercato Telematico Azionario organized and managed by Borsa Italiana S.p.A. Maranello, 23 November 2015 1As part of the separation, Ferrari N.V. will be merged into FE New N.V. which immediately before the merger will hold the shares in Ferrari N.V. now held by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. FE New N.V. will then be renamed Ferrari N.V., and its common shares will be listed on the MTA and the New York Stock Exchange.
Jay Leno's first time behind the wheel of the F40 is a magical moment
Mon, Nov 14 2016Jay Leno has a vast collection of cars and thanks to his connections gets to drive other incredible machines. But Leno has never experienced the raw, visceral feel of a Ferrari F40, until now. It doesn't take long for him to call it the best Ferrari he's ever driven and to claim that it's one of the most exciting cars to drive. The 1990 F40 belongs to Ferrari collector and jeweler David Lee. The vehicle, like the rest of Lee's collection, is immaculate. Lee isn't a stranger to Jay Leno's Garage and has let Leno experience his other Ferraris in the past. But the F40, in all of its turbocharged fury, is Leno's favorite Prancing Horse. As Leno claims, the F40 is a visceral, raw machine that caters to those that enjoy driving. There are no driver aids to help put down the 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8's power and nothing in the way to dilute the driving experience. Leno even goes as far as claiming the F40 is Italy's version of the AC Cobra, which is high praise from a person that isn't a huge fan of the brand. Leno clearly caught the Ferrari bug. All it took was a drive in the iconic F40. Ares Design turns the Ferrari GTC4Lusso into a 412 revival
Wed, Oct 24 2018Ares Design has a second project on the go for this year, after its beautiful Ares Design Coupe for the Bentley Mulsanne. The Modena, Italy, coachbuilder released renderings of its Project Pony — Ares gives "Project" codenames to cars in development — that turns a Ferrari GTC4Lusso into a modern 412. The conversion is the next in the firm's Reborn Legends group, coming after the reimagined Ferrari 250 GTO based on the 812 Superfast. This particular writer is ambivalent about the GTC4Lusso and a huge fan of the 412, so I think Project Pony an outstanding way to turn a shrug into "Buy with One-Click." For those unfamiliar, the 412 was a passionately unloved four-seat Ferrari from the 1980s, the last in a series of front-engined V12 grand tourers that began with the 1972 365 GT4 2+2. Named for the displacement of a single cylinder, the engines got larger and more advanced, through to the 412 that ended production in 1989. The 1985 model introduced the brand's first automatic transmission, a General Motors unit just as derided as the rest of the car, but which sold better than the manual. This was the era when Tom Selleck's Magnum P.I. made the 308 a must-have poster, when Don Johnson's Testarossa made every boy question the payroll policies of the Miami Police Department, when the 288 GTO showed what a car would look like if it were half "The Godfather" and half Sophia Loren, and the F40 generated gravitational waves. The 412, meanwhile, lived in a damp hut on marsala dregs and stale polenta. Ares Design retained the GTC4Lusso's side vents but without the strakes, the door handle, and taillight arrangement. Every other exterior line got redrawn. New carbon fiber body panels include pop-up headlights in front and transverse vents on the hood. The bread-van profile gives way to a sharply raked C-pillar that falls into a gently sloped trunk just long enough to balance the front end. The rear diffuser shoots up to mimic the original coupe. Chrome frames the side glass and B-pillar for an authentic '80s look, with the retro 412 wheels the finishing touch. The reupholstered 2+2 interior replaces the rounded forms on the instrument panel with squared-off angles, down to the square vents instead of the original round units. There's a round steering wheel, too, as opposed to the flat-bottomed GTC4Lusso wheel.
