This 1967 Ferrari 275 is Jay Leno's teenage dream car
Tue, Aug 16 2016Jay Leno isn't a major Ferrari fan, even going as far as taking a Lamborghini over one in the past. But in this episode of Jay Leno's garage, he reveals his soft spot for the 275 GTB/4. This Ferrari was one of his dream cars from his teen years. Thanks to David Lee, a watch dealer and the car's owner, Leno gets that chance. Sometimes your heroes meet their heroes. Throughout the video, Leno gushes about the car. From the 3.3-liter V12 engine, to the graceful body work, he doesn't have a single negative word about it. Leno's praise also centers on the simplicity and purpose of this particular machine. It has plain and simple gauges, the only comfort feature is power windows, and it has a classic gated manual transmission. Leno also highlights how the car doesn't compromise its design; The only purpose of the styling is to please the eye. So check out the video above to see Leno fall in love with this red Ferrari. It's worth watching just to hear the V12 breathe deeply through its six carburetors. Related Video:
A Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 retrospective, by Gear Patrol
Tue, 12 Aug 2014When we think of desirable Ferraris from the 1970s, the choices are somewhat thin. Obviously, there was the 365 GTB/4, better known as the legendary Daytona, but that was initially a product of the 1960s. Really, aside from the arrival of the stylish 308, the 1970s weren't a strong decade for Ferrari.
As Ferrari the brand grows, though, even some of its less-desirable cars are becoming popular among enthusiasts. Considering that, we should begin hearing more mid-70s Ferrari love, such as that being espoused by Anthony Rimicci, for his Dino 308 GT4.
As the first mass-produced, mid-engined V8 Ferrari, the Dino-badged 308 GT4 can best be thought of as the earliest ancestor to the 458 Italia (other mid-engined Ferraris, like the 250LM and 288 GTO are more akin to the Enzo and LaFerrari). It was also the final car in the Dino line, while many of the vehicles were rebadged as Ferraris, following lackluster sales.
Ferrari makes its return to Need For Speed: Rivals in a big way
Thu, 14 Nov 2013With all the excitement over Forza Motorsport 5 and Gran Turismo 6, it's easy to forget that there's another racing game from an even older franchise coming out. The latest Need For Speed installment, Rivals, is set to hit stores November 15 (this Friday) for the Playstation 4, November 19 for PS3 and XBox 360, and November 22 for the XBox One. As part of the run up to the launch, we have a great look at all the new Ferrari content for the new title, which marks only the second time the Italian marque has been in an NFS game.
The last time we saw a prancing horse in Need For Speed was 2009's Shift, when we got ten models as part of a paid, downloadable pack. In anticipation of Ferrari's return to the series, we've got a gallery of images of some of the featured models, like the F12 Berlinetta (which we've shown you before), the FF, the Enzo, the 599 GTO and both the 458 Italia and Spider. All of which are bound to make for phenomenal tools for escaping the virtual cops.
We'll have a more extensive look at Need For Speed: Rivals in the near future, but until then, have a look at the game's Ferrari content up top.
